Meeting 2nd Monday of each month at St. Thomas More Catholic Church
2900 Kimball Ave Manhattan, Kansas
Social time at 8:30 a.m.; meeting begins at 9 a.m.
KPQG website: https://kpqg.wordpress.com/page/
Wow, I feel as if I just got off a roller coaster ride and am trying to get my equilibrium again. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Spain in November but no sooner got home than we were helping watch our little granddaughter for several days as her regular care provider had pneumonia and now her Mommy is starting a new job. Add the stresses of getting ready for guests at Christmas and you can understand why I'm a little loopy.
It will be great getting back to our Quilters Guild in December and we have lot's to do at that meeting including installation of new officers and draw-ing for the opportunity quilt. Be sure to turn in all of your tickets and may-be even buy a few more in order to have the best chance to win!
Also during the holidays keep looking through your sewing room(s) for items to donate to our January auction. I would ask a few favors about the donations. First of all, please carefully edit, sort and clean anything you bring so that we have lots of real treasures to bid on. The ladies help-ing with the auction would appreciate it if you could bring items early, well before our usual start time of 9 a.m. so the sorting can be finished and the auction started on time. If you have items that are really not worth asking a bid on such as bags of scraps, old magazines, dated patterns, etc., you can put them on the free table instead.
Finally, since we've already experienced a taste of winter (well, you all did, I was in sunny Spain), remember our cancellation policy for meetings is the same as for USD 383 schools. If the schools are closed, so are we.
For now let me wish you all Merry Christmas/Feliz Navidad!
Betty
PAGE 1 PRAIRIE POINTER DECEMBER 1,
Greetings from Jennie Burden: [Sent to Rachel Moreland}
I’m so glad you got the banners from the challenge in this month's [Nov] newsletter. It almost made up for not being there in person to see them. Everyone did such an amazing job.
I haven’t found a quilt guild yet that has speakers, but there is a quilting group I’ve joined at the Senior Center. We’re still getting our house just the way we want it (involves some landscaping, new lighting, & remodeled bathroom) so I haven’t had time for quilting yet. Once I’m settled into a routine I’ll be back quilting again. Give my regards to the guild! Take care, Jennie

The Versatile Nine Patch, by Joan Ford, Newtown, CT, Tauton Press, 2017, 220 p.
Use up your left over scraps with this book from the Scrap Therapy series. 18 charming projects , include bags, table toppers, pillows and, of course, quilts. Ford uses 2 inch, 3.5 inch and 5 inch squares to make the nine patch projects. If the small squares scare you, she has designed interfacing that has appropriate size grids. One whole chapter is about using the interfac-ing. But, you can make the designs without the interfacing with step-by step instructions. Other books in this series include Scrap Therapy Cut the Scraps! and Scrap Therapy Scraps Plus One!, which are not in the KPQG library.
