Seminar on “Search Engine Optimization” was organized by Computer Engineering Department in association

with CSI Student Chapter on 23rd Sept., 2010. 21. A Workshop on "Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (MSoffice2007)" was organized on 25th September, 2010 for 1st

and 2nd year students of MCA and B.E. We got overwhelming response for the same. However due to limitation of resources only 46 students were allowed for participation on first come first serve basis.

22. Organized Workshop on “Photoshop” on 16th OCT., 2010 for CSI students. 23. In Student2Business Project Competition by Microsoft, numerous Entries were received through the medium of

internet from all over the country and our department student team stood Second for their project EMBEDTRIX, which was evaluated by Microsoft‟s Evaluation Panel.

24. Microsoft Student Project Program: organized by Microsoft Corporation India. Received First Prize in Entire West Zone.

25. Our student has selected in top 100 entries among 22000 in “GREATE MIND CHALLENGE 2006 “ a national level programme organized by IBM .

Cultural activities Cultural Event is a tradition at SCET. SCET is the platform for myriad & diversified cultural programs. The “Verve” cultural program is the heritage of SCET. Wealth is being created at SCET wealth of innovation, creativity, area, enthusiasm, knowledge and leadership students from entire South Gujarat Region participate by unleashing their creative potential showing their fads & fashion, unlocking their dynamic leadership with their fertile ignited winds. The bush green campus exudes & resembles an area of compassion, harmony, prudence & wisdom. These cultural fabrics bind the tie of love & devotion among the entire SCET fraternity. The “Verve 2010” corymbs of cultural function.

Sports activities SPORTS FACILITIES -College has one multipurpose cricket ground which involves Volley ball ground, 400 meters Athletics track, Foot ball ground, Basket Ball court. -College has two lawn tennis clay court and two badminton court. -College also has one table tennis room with 3 tables. SPORTS ACTIVITY Students do regular practice for various indoor as well as outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis Chess, Volleyball, basket ball etc after their regular routine study They participate in above said games at various levels like inter college, Inter University and National level Inter engineering sports events. College also organize Inter department sports in various games like cricket, volley ball, badminton, table tennis, basketball and some odd games like Futsal ( Five-A-side Football ) , Six-A-side cricket, tug of war etc. to boost the moral of students and encourage them to participate in sports. Students also participate in district level, state level and national level games and have won many championships.

Literary activities With the advent of civilization, our world has always seen a rat race among its inhabitants to be on the forefront. SCET has always given its students myriads of opportunities to come forward and showcase their talent in both technical and non-technical fields. Continuing the legacy, the Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology organizes its Literature & Debate Events throughout the year. The theme posters for Literature & Debate Events, are designed each year. Following events are going to be conducted as a part of L&D Events: Mr. & Ms. SCET, Model Making Competition , Pick n Speak, G.K & Literature Quiz , Group Discussion , Debate etc.

Career Counseling SCET provides ample opportunities for development of Soft skill &

Emotional Intelligence. Many courses have mandatory class room presentation and group discussion components which help improve communication skill. Personality development and Career guidance programmes are conducted to develop the student‟s communicative skill and prepare them to pursue their higher studies to face interviews. We also organized on line test for final year students in association with private firms to increase their chances of employability and adoptability in the industries.

Magazine / Newsletter MAGAZINE Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology publishes, annual student magazine called GRAFITEE, which includes articles from students and staff. Articles are from technical and non technical domains, like poems, stories, recent happening, technological advances etc. It also comprises of detail of pass out students including photographs. College also publishes event proceedings and other details, for annual tech fest event KSHITIJ. NEWS LETTER SCETMATE is the voice of SCET family. It is a humble attempt to showcase the details of SCET, its meteoric rise and achievements which have multiplied by leaps and bounds. It serves to highlight the achievements of SCETians -all staff and students, their persona, way beyond the in exhaustive curricula. Bubbling with zeal and enthusiasm the faculty inculcate and inspire a thirst in the students for an all-round personality development which SCETMATE never fails to portray! Technical Activities / Tech Fest Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology is organizing the National level Engineering Undergraduate‟s Techno festival as – KSHITIJ – an yearly extension of KSHITIJ series which was initiated in 2002. The aim of Kshitij is to provide a unique apropos to the upcoming technocrats wherein they can share their creative ideas and keep themselves abreast of the latest trends in the various arenas of technology. Industrial Visits / Tours CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT We had organized industrial visit for the students of B.E.IV (Chemical) to Ankleshwar on dated 04/02/2010. The details of the industries are as below: 1. Bharuch Enviro Infrastucture Limited (BEIL), Ankleshwar –It is a common Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) for Hazardous waste of whole Ankleshwar Industrial Estate. 2. Bharuch Eco Acqua Infrastructure Ltd (BEAIL), Ankleshwar – it is a Common Effluent Treatment Plant for Ankleshwar Industrial Estate. 3. Analpa Industries, Ankleshwar – It is equipment fabricator. COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT Computer Department of S.C.E.T organizes industrial visit to enhance industry institution interaction. Industrial visit helps the student to translate the theoretical aspect into practical aspects. It also creates awareness in student regarding practical knowledge of current technologies and also environment of industry.

Industrial visit is held annually at Computer department. During the last few years industrial visits were organized for some renowned companies in and around Surat. In the past few years student of computer Engg. Department visited companies like GIPL, RELIANCE, KRIBCHO and ONGC. The visit to various industries becomes a common platform to promote technology change for betterment of society and creating awareness in society. Following is the year wise summary of industrial visit held during past few years. ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT Industrial visits play vital role to the undergraduate students for better know how of manpower and other resources and also to winess industrial environment. Electronics & communication department helds the industrial visits for pre final and final year students every year. Around two visits are being held for both the classes and routinely we do visit F M Station Surat, Doordarshan kendra sachin, Larsen and Toubro Limited Hazira, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd, Hydro Power Plant. In addition, others nearby hazira belt industries like ONGC, reliance industry limited (automation plant), NTPC, KROBHCO, ESSAR, BISAC gandhinagar are also visited by deaprtment in near past. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT The Students of the Electrical Engineering study during the 4 year course contents not limited to

Electrical Power System : Power generation, transmission , distribution and Protection ;Its Modeling ,Performance Analysis, Stability Analysis and its Control .

Electrical Machines: Types of Electrical Machines- their construction , working , performance analysis and designing of these Electrical utilities.

Measurement of Electrical Quantities : Various Electrical measuring equipments – analog and digital meters, bridges , Sensors, their calibration and performance analysis.

Testing of electrical Utilities and meters, circuit breakers, relays etc.

Power electronics, its application to Electrical machines and Power system.

Microprocessor , Microcontroller , Embedded system etc.. Thus in order to provide hands on experience and a broader perspective to their theoretical knowledge, several industrial visits are organized during their 4 year study program. 1. The pre-final students are taken to visit various Power stations Like

Kakrapar Nuclear Power Station : They are given insight about the how power is manifested from nuclear fuel in a controlled manner.

Ukai Thermal and Hydel Power Station : Here they are shown to how coal is procured, pulverized , used in boilers to produce superheated steam to run turbines and ultimately the generators to produce electricity. The station also houses the Hydel power plant.

2. Visit to Substations

The students are shown the various distribution schemes adopted by the Power Distributing Company ,the station layout, the control panels, the various Electrical devices as Power and distribution transformer , circuit breakers etc.

3. Visit to Electrical Device Manufacturing Companies

During their final year they are taught the designing of motors and transformers, so they are taken to visit companies who manufacture transformers, Electrical motors, Stampings for motors , foundry industries and die-casting industries who make aluminum die casted rotor for Single phase and three phase Induction Motors up to 10 Hp

ENVIRNONMENTAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT The students of M.Sc (Environmental Science) as a part of their course curriculum study the different treatment processes for water, waste water and air quality. To make the theoretical understanding more clear they are taken to the different water treatment plants, Sewage Treatment Plants and Industrial Effluent Treatment Plants. Since, the inceptions of the course from 2005, students are taken every year to industries and treatment plants like Anjana Sewage Treatment Plant, Sarthana Water Treatment Plant, Sumul Dairy, Textile Industry of GIDC, Surat, Chalthana Sugar Industry." INFORMATION & TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT A Report on an Industrial Visit to SUMUL DAIRY On 26th February 2009 (Thursday) by the Department of Information Technology, SCET. An Industrial Visit was arranged by the Information Technology Department of Sarvajanik College Of Engineering and Technology, Surat to the leading manufacturer of Milk Products known as SUMUL DAIRY LTD., Surat on 26/02/2009(Thursday). INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT 1. Reliance Industries, Hazira, frequency: once in 2 years 2. Essar Power/Steel Ltd., Hazira, frequency : once in 2 years 3. Kakrapar Atomic Power Station, Anumala, frequency: once or twice till date 4. Thermal Power Station , UKAI, frequency: once till date 5. KRIBHCO, Hazira, frequency: almost once in every two years. TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT It is a practice at the Textile Technology Department to carry out about 6 industrial visits per semester (2 visits for each class in a semester). Each class is accompanied by 2 faculty members. All faculty members are accompanying the students turn wise. The visits are conducted on working Saturday‟s so that teaching is not disturbed. This gives the students a golden opportunity to gain practical knowledge of Industrial practices and through Industrial Institute Interaction give the industry trained personnel well versed with the environment prevalent in the industry. At the textile technology department, about 80 industrial visits have been conducted so far. The visits are being organized and co-ordinated by Prof.Anita Desai & Prof.Dr.P.A.Khatwani. A few visits were also organized by Prof.J.R.Ajmeri. The industries visited include well known large scale industries like Welspun Terrytowels, Vapi, Reliance Industries, Ahmedabad & Hazira,

Bombay Dyeing Mills, Mumbai, Raymond Mills, Thane, Garden, Surat, Birla Cellulosics, Bharuch, Supreme Nonwovens, Vapi, Rajashree Polyfils, Rajpipla, to name a few. It also includes the visit to small scale industries like Fairdeal Filaments, Surat, Goyal Knifabs Ltd., Surat, etc. Along with industrial know how, students are also exposed to Research Associations across the country with visits to ATIRA, Ahmedabad, BTRA & SASMIRA, Mumbai. They are also exposed to latest trends in technology by visits to exhibitions and Trade Fairs like ITME Mumbai, GARTTEX, Surat, etc. In this semester the following visits are in process: Reliance Hazira, Donear Industries Ltd., Surat and Marudhar Mills, Surat. TEXTILE PROCESSING ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT An industrial visit of B.E. III (6TH Sem.) & B.E. IV (8TH Sem.) was arranged on 25/11/2009 to Mangal Geeta Fashion Ltd. & Krishna Dyeing & Printing Mills, Surat-Bardoli Road, Kadodara, Surat. There were total 30 students with two faculty members. Mangal Geeta Fashion had dyeing as well as printing unit. All the state-of-the-art machineries were installed. Students observed all the unit operations/Processes like scouring, bleaching, dyeing, printing, finishing etc. adapted to dye & print synthetic fabric prevelant in Surat market. Their technical personnel demonstrated the preparation of design screens for printing & how innovative various hand screen printing styles are ruling the market in sarees & dress materials. The other unit Krishna Dyeing & Printing Mills had the range of cotton processing machineries along with synthetics viz. Polyester & Nylon. It was a new experience to students to see cotton processing in Surat as Surat has mostly synthetic fabric dye houses.

Alumni activities The performance of alumni has had a definitive impact on professional scene. Our alumni have impressive spread across industry, academia and entrepreneurship in India, abroad and in government also. Numerous alumni are actively engaged in the Institute's affairs as volunteers, locally and across the world, through the Alumni Association, SCETAA. Institute works closely with the Alumni Association to involve Alumni in its educational and research activities wherever possible, by inviting them to participate in various college activities, as visiting faculty or guest speakers
