This comprehensive offering complements the existing Schlumberger packer technology portfolio and includes mechanical-, wireline-, and hydraulic-set retrievable packers, permanent packers, bridge plugs, service tools, and accessories. These systems are designed to meet reservoir conditions for a wide range of well applications and environments.

DescriptionThe Model PMDJ packer is a mechanically set retrievable production packer featuring two sets of slips to provide a secure grip. The double “J-setting” system design enables reliable operation in environments of high differential pressures and temperatures. This packer can support both acid and frac stimulation operations and has applications in oil and gas production wells in addition to injection wells due its lack of dynamic O-rings. The packer can be set in compression, tension, or neutral.

Setting OperationUpon attaining desired depth, pull the string upward until the J-slot is cleared and rotate ½ turn clockwise (right). Apply 8,000 lbf compressive force, then pull the same tension value upward. Repeat these last two steps to ensure good isolation.

Releasing OperationApply 2,000 lbf compressive force, rotate ½ turn clockwise (right) and pull. For emergency release, pull until the emergency release pins are sheared.

DescriptionThe Model PMP-2 production mechanical packer is a mechanically-set double-grip production packer. The segment mechanism in the setting system enables the mechanism not to be affected by high differential pressures and temperatures. Packer is set in compression, tension or neutral.

Setting OperationOnce at depth, rotate 5–6 turns clockwise (right), at tool´s level and while placing the tubing to reach weight, set 5,000 lbf and pull the same quantity. Set 12,000 lbf compression force and pull the same quantity to leave the packer set and packed.

Releasing OperationApply 2,000–3,000 Ibf tension on the string and rotate. When the loss of tension is perceived, wait for the pressure to equalize, then pick up to release the packer.

DescriptionThe Model PJT tension mechanical packer with “Jay” is mechanically set and is ideally suited for shallow wells. This economical packer offers simple operation and can be used in production and injection wells.

Setting operationOnce at depth, rotate ½ turn counterclockwise (left), pull the tubing to 6,000 lbf, leaving the packer set and packed.

Releasing operationRelease tension of the tubing beyond setting point, rotate ½ turn clockwise (right) and retrieve the tool. For emergency release, pull until the emergency release pins are sheared.

DescriptionThe Model PJP-2 mechanical packer is a mechanically-set, retrievable production packer with double-grip anchoring for well testing. The “Jay” setting mechanism allows for simple operation. The packer is specifically designed for fracs and squeeze cementing jobs.

Setting OperationOnce at depth, pull 2 in to remove the J-pin and rotate ½ turn clockwise (right). Apply weight according to procedure.

Releasing OperationPull the string up to 2,000 lbf over its weight, wait for the elastomers to stop packing. Once the packer is unset, begin retrieval.

DescriptionThe Model TM-1 mechanical packer allows for isolation of several zones using a single anchor at the bottom, by means of a hydraulic or mechanical packer. The Model TM-1 is highly effective and very robust and can be used in either injection wells or wells in production.

Setting OperationBefore running this tool, set the shearing pins rate and the correct position of the pin in the J-slot. After anchoring a packer at the lowest part of the string, pull the tandem according to the operational procedure.

Unsetting OperationRelease tension, set 500 lbf compressive force, then rotate from 1 to 3 turns clockwise (right) (at tool level). Retrieve the tool.

DescriptionThe Model TM-2 tandem mechanical packer enables isolation of several zones utilizing its larger packing surfaces. The installation requires that it be run with a hydraulic or mechanical packer at the lowest part of the string, offering the necessary anchor to the system. This highly effective and robust packer can be used in injection wells as in production ones.

Setting OperationBefore running the packer, set the shearing pins rate and the position of the pin in the J-slot. Then, pull according to procedure having the lowest packer set as an anchor for the system.

Unsetting OperationRelease tension, apply 500-lbf compressive force and rotate from 1 to 3 turns clockwise (right) (at tool level) to retrieve the tool.

DescriptionThe Model RFH hydraulic packer is a hydraulically-set hydrostatic packer with double grip, featuring slips in the lower section and hold downs in the upper one. The packer can be retrieved by tension. The Model RFH is useful for oil and gas production wells as well as for injection ones. The tubing can remain with tension, neutral, or weight and can be moved selectively.

Setting OperationSelect the rated value of the shearing pins, with the purpose of setting the installation selectively or as a whole in the case of using multiple packers. Run the packer (with the predetermined string) with a blank plug or another element for that purpose (according to installation) to allow pressurization. At the required depth, apply pressure according to the rated values of the setting pins. Check the mechanical specifications for correct operational parameters for weight and tension.

Releasing OperationSet the string at neutral point and apply tension exceeding the tubing weight, according to the rate of the shearing ring for this operation.

Lower the Model PHJ packer with the predetermined string, with a blank plug or another element for that purpose, according to installation, to allow pressurization. At the required depth, apply pressure according to the shearing values of the setting pins. After this, repack it with 2,800 psi (see table).

Releasing OperationSet the string to the neutral point, rotate ¼ turn clockwise (right) and lift approximately 30 cm to lock the pin in the “Jay” in the unset position.

DescriptionThis Model PHJ-A hydraulic packer, utilizing double mechanical grip and hydraulic setting, can be retrieved either by pulling or rotating the string. The Model PHJ-A packer can be used in all types of installations, but is primarily used in selective water injection wells where many zones require isolation. The two-piece telescoping mandrel allows adequate clearance to collapse the slips and elements before loading the packer immediately below it. When it is necessary to retrieve many packers in the same string, a tension stack is avoided. The Model PHJ-A packer can be set in compression, tension, or neutral.

Setting Procedure.Previously, you must select the shearing pins rate, in order to set the packers in a selective way or altogether in just one single operation. Run the Model PHJ-A packer in a predetermined string with a plug at the bottom, so that it can be pressurized. Upon reaching the required setting depth, pressurize the string according to the shearing rate, then pack it with 2,800 psi.

Release Procedure.Determine where the neutral point of the string is, rotate ¼ turn clockwise (right) and lift approximately 30 cm, in order to lock the J-slot pin in the safe position.

Lower the PHR-2 hydraulic packer with the predetermined string, with a blank plug or another element for that purpose (according to installation) to allow pressurization. Get to the required depth and apply pressure according to the shearing values of the setting pins.

Releasing OperationSet the tubing to neutral point, pull with ±2,000 lbf and rotate the string from 5 to 6 turns clockwise (right). The tool releases once tension is removed.

DescriptionThe Model THJ tandem hydraulic packer is hydraulically set, allows straight pull-and-rotate release, and is designed for selective installations. The telescopic mandrel helps avoid extra tension forces while retrieving. The packer can be set in compression, tension, or neutral. This make this packer an excellent option.

Setting OperationRate the shearing value of the calibrated pins, with the purpose of setting the installation selectively or as a whole in the case of using multiple packers. Lower the Model THJ packer with the predetermined string, with a blank plug or other element for that purpose to allow pressurization, according to installation. At the required depth, apply pressure according to the shearing values of the setting pins. After setting, repack with 2,800 psi (see table).

Releasing OperationSet the string to the neutral point, rotate ¼ turn clockwise (right) and lift approximately 30 cm to lock the pin in the ”Jay” in the unset position.

DescriptionThe Model CSM circulating sleeve allows complete circulation. The Model CSM is easily operated by applying tension to open and compressive force for its closing. The circulation sleeve can be opened or closed repeatedly as required and allows an unrestricted flow passage when in the open position. The Model CSM allows total transmission of the torque when packers must be operated. Applications include equalization and circulation over packers that are designed to allow pulling.

Operation ModeApply downward force on the tool to shear pins according to the shearing table. Rotate the tubing ⅛ turn clockwise (right) at desired tool depth, while maintaining a slight torque, and lift the tubing slowly until tension is acquired again. Tool is completely open to allow full circulation.

To close the tool, apply downward force and rotate the tubing ⅛ turn counterclockwise (left). Lift the tubing slowly until tubing is again under tension.

DescriptionThe Model CSH hydraulic opening circulation sleeve is designed to be used in wells when communication between the tubing and the annulus is required for normal well circulation. The Model CSH sleeve’s hydraulic opening mechanism is not affected by the differential pressure applied to the tubing, when the opening valve has not been introduced.

Operation of the Model CSH is simple. The valve has rated shearing pins that, once cut by direct differential pressure, allow free circulation inside the tubing.

Operation ModeWhen opening is required, fill the tubing (to avoid an abrupt impact of the ball on the sliding sleeve valve seat), then drop the valve. Taking this into account, obtain ±10% of the shearing pins value, according to the rated shearing table.

Once the check valve has seated, pressurize the tubing to achieve the necessary pressure to shear the pins and open the sleeve, thereby allowing communication to the annulus.

Note: If the tubing cannot be filled, the shearing value of the pin will be inaccurate and will need to be taken into account. The fatigue of the shearing pins produced by the high impact on the tool is changed when the well has no fluid level.

DescriptionThe Model VDR dynamic valve with cup packer is designed for multiple purposes. In mechanical pumping wells, the valve allows the circulation and clearing of the tubing of paraffin incrustations and carbonates by adding a simple cup packer under the valve. The Model VDR is also employed as a bypass valve for the oil-associated gas. In these instances, a tandem packer is placed above the valve.

Operation ModeThe valve is placed in the production string just below the point where the paraffin becomes solid due to a lower temperature. When loss of production is observed, circulate the well through the annulus while applying more than 300-psi differential pressure, thus opening the sub and communicating the annulus with the tubing, to accomplish cleaning.

DescriptionThe Model AR-1 tension mechanical anchor is a robust and reliable in applications where it its necessary to secure the string to the casing while using mechanical pumping. Pumping efficiency is increased by means of decreasing the friction caused by the movement of rod inside a not properly aligned tubing string. The Model AR-1 anchor can be set in compression, tension, or neutral.

Setting OperationWith the tool at depth, rotate from 6 to 8 turns counterclockwise (left) at tool level and apply compressive force or tension according to procedure. Be aware of the rate at which the emergency release shearing pins were set.

Releasing OperationSet the string to the neutral point and pull between 1,000 and 1,500 lbf, then rotate from 6 to 8 turns counterclockwise (left) at tool depth. In case of using the emergency release option, pull over the tubing weight as rated for the shearing pins

DescriptionThe Model AR-2 torque anchor is robust, reliable, and has applications where it is necessary to secure the string to the casing while using electrical (ESP) pumping, increasing efficiency by providing a secure anchor to the casing. When the rotor starts its rotation, the torque applied to the tubing string is transferred to the casing walls.

Operation ModeWith the tool at depth, rotate with a pipe wrench (on the surface) clockwise (right), then release suddenly to verify the anchor is working properly. The friction against the friction pads on the casing force the springs and activates the slips.

Releasing OperationStart pulling out the tubing while checking the tension.

DescriptionThe Model AR-3 DL hydraulic tension anchor was specifically designed for special wells (dogleg, deviation, etc.). It is necessary to secure the string to the casing when using mechanical pumping, thus increasing its efficiency. The packer can be set in compression, tension, or neutral.

Setting OperationWith the tool at depth and the installation plugged at the bottom, apply pressure to shear the pins (previously set). Then, apply tension according to tubing movement procedure. Be aware of the shearing pins rate for the emergency release option.

Releasing OperationSet the string to the neutral point and pull between 1,000 and 1,500 lbf. Rotate 6 to 8 turns counterclockwise (left) at tool depth. In order to use the emergency release system, pull over the tubing weight according to the shearing pins rate.

DescriptionThe Model ATC “Catcher” tubing anchor is demployed to keep the production string in tension and hold certain tubing parts that could fall into the well. The anchor is primarily used in mechanical pumping systems when it is necessary to maintain the tubing in tension.

Setting OperationOnce at the desired depth, rotate the tubing counterclockwise (left) 5 to 8 turns until slips are in contact with the casing.

Maintaining the torque, apply alternative loads to the tubing (less than the tools working value). Release the torque and continue applying alternative loads to eliminate residual torques.

Apply the necessary tension to the tubing as recommended by the calculations performed previously, plus the appropriate additional tension as a safety margin.

To release, apply a small amount of compression to the tubing and rotate 5 to 8 turns clockwise (right). Should it become necessary, it is possible to release the anchor without compression or even having it in tension. To ensure that the tool is completely released, pull the tubing a couple of feet and rotate clockwise (right) again.

DescriptionThe NRA278 non-rotating tubing anchor is installed as part of the tubing string, to set it fix to the casing. Its main application is in wells where it is not possible to set the conventional anchors by means of tubing rotation due to heating pipes inside the well.

The NRA278 anchor presents API 2⅞ EU 8RD connections, in box-up and pin-down configuration.

The slips are manufactured with treated materials to achieve high external hardness and great internal tensile.

Setting OperationThe NRA278 anchor is operated by means of upward and downward movements in the tubing. The tool setting is carried out by tensioning the tubing.

It is released by applying tension that exceeds the one rated to shear the ring.

DescriptionThe Model RK cement retainer is designed for squeeze cementing operations. It has a surface-controlled valve when setting weight in the string to open it and lifting it to close it (by means of the stinger located in the lowest part of the string).

To test the tool, the stinger must be position inside the flapper valve, between the seal rings. The valve closes automatically when the stinger is retrieved.

The Model RK retainer is part of a Wireline setting kit. Adapters are necessary to set by tubing. The retainer can sustain high pressures and temperatures.

DescriptionThe Models KP and MP lateral outlet mandrels are designed out of an oval cross-section of a pipe, and can incorporate SAE 4130 low steel alloy or AISI 316L stainless steel into their construction. The mandrel ends are integrally forged and end in an excentric rounded cross-section. This excentric ends allow to place the threaded connections, having the same flowing area as of the one as of the tubing. The ends present an API EU 8 RD box-up and box-down threads configuration.

The sizes are: ∅ 2⅜ in, ∅ 2⅞ in and ∅ 3½. These type of mandrels have a lateral output pocket that can place many types of regulating valves as for example, flow valves for water injection, gas lifting, blanks, etc. The pockets are made of SAE steel and 4130 steel. The one piece tubular pocket is welded to the mandrel by qualified operators and procedures.

The packing seal diameter complies with the dimensions and external polish required by the API 11V1 std. The pocket presents a ledge in its entry which allows the use of valves with an integral or upper latch.

DescriptionThe Model FRS flow retrievable control valve is constructed from AISI 316 stainless steel.The valve’s regulating system is automatic and is made up of a piston, a hole (interchangeable), a spring, and a seat. Depending on the service, the seat can be provided in tungsten carbide and the piston rod with an insert of the same material in its end. The critical pieces are thermically treated or entirely made of K-Monel®.

The seal elements provided are made of a Kevlar® and Neoprene™ compounds that assure better performance than rubber and fabric ones. They operate under the same principle as the retrievable flow regulators available in the market, and can be installed in 1- or 1½-in pocket mandrel diameters of any manufacturer.

A retaining system can be provided to avoid the backflow from the formation to the tubing. The standard model comes with a spring that allows rates up to 170 m3/day; it can be replaced by one for higher rates in order to obtain a maximum of 240 m3/day.

An anti-lock system can be provided for high differential pressure wells. The ∅1¼-in regulating valves have a lower integral latch (nose) and the flow gets in through the upper part (head). The ∅1½-in retaining valves present a latch in the upper part (head) and the flow gets in through the lower part (nose).

DescriptionThe Model FSS surface flow control valve installs directly into the injection pipe and employs an automatic flow-regulating system. Different flow rates through the Model FSS surface flow control valve are determined by interchanging the orifices, allowing accurate adjustment of the flow by means of a simple operation.

The Model FSS valve allows injection flow regulation on the surface, without constant adjustments of the valves. In this way, operation costs are reduced.

DescriptionThe Model WRTP-1 retrievable service plug is a tool with electric- and hydraulic-setting systems and allows isolation of critical zones. The plug can be run with wireline or tubing.

Setting Operation

Electric System:With the corresponding adapter kit, thread it to the electrical setting tool.

Hydraulic System:Run the Model WRTP-1 with the hydraulic setting tool to the required depth. Throw the ball and pressurize the string to set hydraulically.

Releasing OperationRun the fishing tool, set 5,000 lbf compressive force on top of the plug to open the equalization sleeve and unlatch the releasing retention system. Pull 4,000 to 5,000 lbf to release the plug.

DescriptionThe Model JP278 jet pump is run in the tubing string above the packer and can be used as a final installation in a well production system. The jet pump’s design allow an operator to run a variety of tools through it.

Applications for the Model JP278 jet pump include recovery of surface acid after a stimulation job, recovery of frac-pumped fluids, well testing, cleaning plugged or damaged zones, and for periodic cleaning of injection wells.
