Most consumers don’t realize that a heatpump’s cooling efficiencies are measured by both SEER and EER ratings. Many are familiar with SEER - an average measure of performance under varying conditionsthroughout the cooling season when amajority of the days reach relativelymoderate temperatures. However,it’s also important to compare EER – a heat pump’s measured efficiency at a constant 95

The Model 677C uses environmentally sound Puron refrigerant. For manypeople, that’s an important consideration because Freon®-22*, the refrigerantmost commonly used in home heat pumps, is gradually being phased out ofexistence due to concern over the Earth’s ozone layer. Not only is this anadvantage environmentally, it’s a potentially huge advantage financially aswell. As supplies dwindle, costs to service heat pumps using Freon-22 mayrise.
