LEWIS AND CLARK’S EXPEDITION TO THE Oregon coast set the stage for the settlement of the Pacif ic Northwest; naturally a destination for frontiersmen and explorers, the region remains ripe for discovery. Desert, mountain and seashore landscapes coupled with a mild climate and a cosmopolitan mix of cultures, make British Columbia, Washington and Oregon ideal settings for a variety of spectacular golf and touring.

The launch of Bandon Dunes to the Oregon coast and subsequent addition of Pacif ic Dunes, Bandon Trails and f inally Old MacDonald, may be the most influential golf development in U.S. history. A walking-only facility built on tight fescue grown over sandy dunes shaped by wind and weather; Bandon was the contemporary American birth of true links golf, making household names of designers like David McLay Kidd and Tom Doak, and cementing legendary designer status upon Coore and Crenshaw.

Bandon shined awareness on the Pacif ic Northwest as a golf destination and that awareness was rewarded with hosting the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Even now, almost 20 years after the opening of the f irst course at Bandon, there remain hidden gems to be discovered, and we are delighted to introduce you to a great sampling – from the courses at Whistler, to Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria, Pumpkin Ridge in Portland and the Nicklaus and Fazio courses at Pronghorn Resort in Bend.

Discover the pleasure and ease of traveling with Kalos Golf. Our attentive staff awaits at every course with your bag already prepped for your arrival. For each round, we accommodate pairing requests or match you with new friends who share your skill level and enthusiasm for the game.

For those interested in more than golf, we have designed exciting tours to meet the needs of discriminating travelers; exploring the natural wonders of Whistler Blackcomb, touring the gardens of Victoria and Seattle, discovering the majesty of coastal Oregon and the Columbia River Gorge, learning the history of winemaking in the Willamette Valley.

Whether playing golf or learning about local history and natural wonders with our experienced guides, shopping or exploring on your own, you will experience unsurpassed personal attention, returning from your journey with new and enriched friendships and memories of a captivating experience.

plan to arrive in Vancouver, British columbia on september 3. You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to the four seasons resort in Whistler, centrally located in the heart of this outdoor adventure capital of western canada. settle in and relax until our welcome reception this evening. . . . . . . .sEPtEmbEr 4: whistlEr GolF: NiCKlAUS NorTH GolF CoUrSe

Winding along a gentle valley next to a glacier-fed lake, surrounded by snowcapped peaks and majestic fi rs, nicklaus north is a stunning introduction to pacifi c northwest golf. more parkland than mountain, the views and tumbling rivers set the stage for a round that tempts risk for reward on virtually every hole. Wider landing areas off the tees typically result in longer approaches to well-defended greens; while longer tee shots gamble with hazards – avoiding fairway bunkers and hitting to narrower landing areas – to earn a short-iron approach. there are fi ve par-three holes at nicklaus north, and with water framing four of them, each could be a signature hole. a memorable game, along with some fresh mountain air, awaits.

We depart from green lake via fl oatplane and fl y high over the mountains to marvel at ancient glaciers that formed and continue to shape the Whistler Blackcomb Valley. it is a breathtaking and unique journey over rugged peaks and crystal-blue alpine lakes to witness the capacity of these powerful ice rivers to carve the splendid vales of Whistler.. . . . . . .sEPtEmbEr 5: whistlEr GolF: FAirMoNT CHATeAU WHiSTler GolF ClUB

chateau Whistler golf club climbs over four hundred feet from the base of Blackcomb mountain. don’t be surprised to see a variety of wildlife in the surrounding forests, from bear to eagles, beavers and grouse. nine holes out and back, framed by fi rs, rocky outcrops, lakes and streams, this is mountain golf at its fi nest. Whether it’s the elevated tee looking down to the par three 8th, or the steady climb up to the par four 3rd, robert trent Jones, Jr.’s design philosophy of fi tting the course to the site is on spectacular display. elevation changes, forced carries over rivers, ravines and perfectly situated bunkers, will demand creative and accurate use of every club in the bag.

GolF: BeAr MoUNTAiN reSorT today, we split the fi eld between two outstanding nicklaus courses at Bear mountain golf resort, host of the champions tour pacifi c links. though the mountain course boasts higher altitude and includes more extreme elevation changes than the Valley course, both are truly mountain layouts. the Valley’s generous fairways lead to massive greens with tiers and swells that require an accurate approach to chance two-putts. the signature hole on the mountain course is a wonderful representation of mountain target golf: the par three 10th, an island green set on a small lake. the views from both courses are spectacular, the conditioning is superb, and we will be treated to a wonderful day of golf.

GolF: CHAMBerS BAY (WAlKiNG oNlY) -or- SAliSH CliFFS GolF ClUB (CArTS AvAilABle)Chambers Bay is a robert trent Jones, Jr. links design on the shores of puget sound, on the site of a former quarry. host of the 2015 u.s. open, the fi rm, fast and rolling fescue fairways lead to large, undulated greens. a lone fi r tree on the par three 15th, punctuates the starkly beautiful landscape, which was seemingly sculpted by nature. the greens were a hot topic of discussion in 2015, and after the u.s. open, it was decided to let the greens change over to poa annua, which they will have fully done by the time we play. the key at chambers Bay, as with all great links, is to account for the fairway and greenside mounding to best land your drives and approaches. Salish Cliffs opened in 2011 and is owned and operated by the squaxin island tribe. a hybrid mountain parkland layout with 600 feet of gradual elevation change and expansive views of the surrounding Kamilche Valley, the course’s main defense is the tall fescue that frames most holes. salish cliffs is visually stunning and a true hidden gem on our pacifi c northwest journey.

home to four of the fi nest courses in the world, it’s no wonder that a pilgrimage to Bandon is the defi nitive bucket-list conquest for passionate golfers. Whether you’ve chosen to play david mclay Kidd’s Bandon dunes, tom doak’s pacifi c dunes or old macdonald, or coore and crenshaw’s Bandon trails, each has earned its rank among the greats. shaped by the sweep of the pacifi c, set among dunes cast by prevailing winds, there is perhaps no fi ner venue for the game of golf. the resort’s remote location gives cause for some of its mythology, and we are privileged to dock just thirty minutes north in coos Bay for our two days at Bandon dunes.

We will visit a local cranberry bog, where we learn about cranberry production, and enjoy fresh farm-made cranberry treats. after our visit to the cranberry farm, we visit stalwarts of coastal oregon: a selection of historic lighthouses that have protected sailors along this craggy coast for centuries. . . . . . . .sEPtEmbEr 11: coos baY, orEgon

a second day at Bandon dunes is an opportunity to master a new course – and likely a different wind direction. While Bandon trails is the most protected of the four main courses here, wind plays a signifi cant factor in scoring on all; ride the current and take advantage of tight, fast fairways rolling to mammoth greens, or keep it low? much will depend on the bearing of the wind and executing on the advice of our expert caddies will be essential.

ever since early pioneers began farming the land of the Willamette Valley, it has yielded an impressive bounty. in the 1960s, the valley’s soil was found to be ideal for growing grapes, especially pinot noir, pinot gris, and chardonnay varietals. Vineyards now populate these rolling hillsides, and the valley’s output is arguably just as good as its better-known california neighbor. today, we tour a selection of local vineyards and pair lunch with just the right vintages.. . . . . . .sEPtEmbEr 14: PortlanD

We board a short flight from Portland to Bend, Oregon, an outdoor adventure hub of the Pacific Northwest. Known for wonderful hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting and fly-fishing and a unique, high-desert climate, Bend has been a preferred outdoor vacation destination for Northwesterners for decades.

Pronghorn Resort is on the outskirts of Bend and features two impeccable golf courses: a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and a Tom Fazio Championship Course. Both are wonderfully maintained and offer unique challenges, including lava formations on the Fazio course. Generally, the layouts are a mix of parkland meets high-desert target golf, with lakes, streams and desert bush framing the second cut. Serenely stunning scenery is the backdrop for two memorable rounds at Pronghorn.

The Pronghorn Golf Extension is limited to 24 guests based on availability of lodging and tee times. While there is plenty to explore on your own in Bend, this extension focuses on golf and relaxation at Pronghorn Resort.

Tour price is $1,395 per person, double occupancy in a Junior Suite ($1,135 per person, double occupancy in a Deluxe Room; $1,695 for a Single Room). The price includes three nights accommodations at Pronghorn Resort, one round on the Fazio and one round on the Nicklaus course at Pronghorn Resort and air-port transfers on standard arrival and departure dates.
