USDA Recommends Storing and Shipping Fresh Strawberries at 32F (USDA Handbook 669)
USDA Clarifies PACA Upper Temperature LimitThe decision (G. Tanaka Farms vs. Garden State Farms Inc), dealing with the facts of the case, says that temperatures of 40degrees and above are abnormal. It does not say that a temperature of 33 39 degrees would not also be evidence of abnormal transit. transit temperatures above 32 degrees are not recommended and that depending on the circumstances and facts involved, higher temperatures could establish a problem with the transportation of the strawberries.
