Brochure

Description: A simple trifold brochure that showcases a 1981 Chevy Silverado

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For this project I created a brochure that showcased a 1981 Chevy Silverado. The work that went into this took a great deal of time because I had to use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Using a two page, trifold layout through Adobe InDesign, I promoted this vehicle using the official “Chevy Bowtie” and a series of photos that I took personally using my Nikon L820. I trimmed the photos in Adobe Photoshop to remove unnecessary background images and placed them into InDesign. I then created a rock-like platform using Adobe Illustrator, thus creating a platform for the series of truck images to rest on. Lastly, I used a textwrap method via Adobe InDesign to tie it all together. It was very difficult project, but it was enjoyable.

Message: In most of my projects I present a somewhat serious product, however this time I wanted to do something a little more…goofy. I wanted to use a little satire and humor in this project and so I incorporated that into the text. This brochure is used as a “congratulations on your purchase” document.

Audience: The person(s) who purchased a 1981 Chevy Silverado.

Montage

-Description: An inspiration montage; pieced together by the blending of four images and typography.

-Process: I first created a black, I then collected four separate images of Mahammad Ali. The first image in the upper left corner was in color, so I created a mask and then put a black and white color effect over it. Using the brush tool, I was able to fade out the image so it would blend into the black background. The next two images at the top were already set to black and white, so I just used the brush step with separate masks, as previously stated to blend in these images. I then took the more recent photo of Mahammad Ali and made it a little more clear by adjusting the brightness and color levels. I then placed the photo into the bottom left corner of the piece and added a mask, blending it into the background. I then inserted a quote from Mahammad Ali, gave it a more athletic font, and placed a mask over that as well.

-Message: Don’t give up, it’s hard now but later you’ll be able to live on victoriously

-Audience: Anyone who plans on giving up; athletes; anyone going through trials

Logos-Description: Three logo variations for the same company

-Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For this project, I used Adobe Illustrator to create three unique logos for Arctic Bay Productions For the first image, I then distorted the star by adjusting the anchors to form something resembling a twisted flower. I then made a smaller red star in the center and adjusted those anchors, and finally repeating those steps to create a yellow star in the center, creating one large arctic themed flower. I then placed it on a yellow rounded rectangle with opacity set to 30%. For the second I I used the Rectangle Tool to create two mountains, adjusting the opacity on both and setting them both to a teal color. I then used the line tool to create snow caps. Then using the Circle Tool, I created a moon in the background, setting it to indigo and lowering the opacity. I then inserted the text, “Arctic Bay” and using the brush tool with a lowered opacity, I added a frosted look. I then used the line tools to create a blue line and a lighter indigo line. I curved them slightly, and then changed the stroke to 5 point, and gave it a charcoal brush effect. For the final logo, I created two rounded rectangles using the rounded rectangle tool. I then inserted the letters “AB” and made them larger than the rectangles. Finishing the logo by inserting the word production underneath it all.

-Message: Arctic Bay Productions is a production company focused on the strengthening of your business.

-Audience: Anyone interested in starting a company and needs PR and Visual Media help

Business

Card-Description: Business card designs by using a personal logo.

-Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign. I used Illustrator to create the “blimp” logo by taking the pen tool and drawing out the outline of the blimp. Then, using the direct selection tool, I was able to curve the lines of the blimp to make it look more professional. I planted the logo on my stationary and dropped the opacity to about 40%. I then inserted this design into a 3.5 X 2 inch canvas, while adding one underline to my personal information as to add contrast. I then took the logo and placed it on another 3.5 X 2 inch canvas, as to imply it was the back of the business card.

-Message: Elevation Inc. is a strong, creative company that can help with all of your PR and Marketing needs.

-Audience: Small businesses and other companies who are trying to greaten their public image.

Flier

Description: A black and white flier designed to help promote the Vouant Communications, Graduate Leadership ConferenceProcess (Programs, Tools, Skills): I started with drawing some simple sketches of what I wanted to see in the flier. I then took one of my sketches and used it as a guide for my layout on Adobe Indesign. The layout changed over time. I used two black boxes for contrast; one for the title and one for the webpage. I made sure to have two different fonts that would add contrast, but not conflict. I made sure to keep the date, time and place slightly larger so that passing students would notice it quickly. I was given the logo, text and image to assemble this layout.Message: This flier is intended to be a tool to invite graduating seniors to attend a seminar that will help them build their leadership skills.Audience: The target audience would be graduating seniors, ages 22-30.

Event Ad

Description: This is an advertisement for a Scout Troop benefit dinner. The goal is to raise money for scout camp.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I scanned the photo of the scout and inserted it into Microsoft Word 2011. Using the publishing effects, I was able to crop out a large portion of what scanned (only what was unnecessary.) I wanted to keep this add simple as if it were being used for an actual scout troop who was aiming this strictly at friends and family. Therefore, I blew up the image to make a full bleed effect, and then added for blue boxes to hold the text. I wanted to keep the boxes semi clear as to make the back image still visible. I changed the center box to a lighter blue to add contrast. After finishing, I saved it as a PDF, and then using pdf2jpg.net, I converted the image into a JPG and placed it in this post.

Message: The message is simple, come support Boy Scout Troop 908 buy purchasing a spaghetti dinner. All funds will go towards the troop making it to scout camp this summer.

Audience: The friends and family of troop 908

Imaging

Description: Take and present a quality photo, while editing it for a professional advertisement. Use color scheme of the photo and incorporate that into the advertisement layout.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I took a photograph of the Romance Theater using a Nikon L820 Camera. The photo was then uploaded to Adobe Photoshop where the image was given some slight saturation. Then, using the color pattern in the photo, and a sketch idea, an advertisement was designed for a possible live TV show. I also included color samples with labels so that my client may know the color set up that I used for this advertisement. I used a big split complementary color scheme made up of teal, violet, brick and gold.

Message: The message behind this advertisement is suppose to be an invitation to attend a live show of a up and coming local program. The photo is of the Romance Theater, where the show will be filmed. The color scheme and pattern helps give special attention to the fact that there is a live band.

Audience: The advertisement is aimed at college students mostly, but includes local residents as well.

Fliers

Description: Fliers designed with the intent of promoting a new television show to be filmed in Rexburg, ID. The show was entitled, Late Night with the Live Band Club.

Process: The program used to create these fliers was simply Microsoft Word. I created four different fliers by using simple shapes and placing text within the colored shapes. For the first flier I lowered the opacity to give it a formal look. The second flier took the most time because I had to line up and form the conversation boxes just right. The third flier was made up mostly of text boxes and was quite easy to assemble. The last one was supposed to be a simple, yet formal invite to be part of the audience. It is made up of varying black shapes and text boxes. This flier was ultimately chosen to be the main advertisement for the television program. This project took roughly two hours.

Message: Come see the show and be part of the live audience!
