    ISO 14825:2011 Intelligent transport

    systems - Geographic Data Files

    ISO 14825:2011 specifies the conceptual and logical data model and physicalencoding formats for geographic databases for Intelligent TransportSystems (ITS) applications and services. It includes a specification ofpotential contents of such databases (data dictionaries for Features,Attributes and Relationships), a specification of how these contents shallbe represented, and of how relevant information about the database itselfcan be specified (metadata).

    The focus of ISO 14825:2011 is on ITS applications and services and itemphasizes road and road-related information. ITS applications andservices, however, also require information in addition to road and road-related information.

    Typical ITS applications and services targeted by ISO 14825:2011 are in-

    vehicle or portable navigation systems, traffic management centres, orservices linked with road management systems, including the publictransport system

    ISO 14816:2005 Road transport and

    traffic telematics - Automatic vehicle and

    equipment identification - Numbering anddata structure

    ISO 14816:2005 establishes a common framework data structure forunambiguous identification in RTTT/ITS systems. It excludes anyphysical aspects such as interfaces. It is neither frequency- nor airinterface protocol-specific.

    Data elements that form part of transmission or storage protocols suchas headers, frame markers and checksums are thus excluded.

    The specifications for protecting against changes, classifying andqualifying security aspects of the data structure elements are not

    included within ISO 14816:2005.

    ISO 14813-1:2007 Intelligent transport

    systems - Reference model

    architecture(s) for the ITSISO 14813-1:2007 provides a definition of the primary services and application

    areas that can be provided to Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Users.

    Those with a common purpose can be collected together in ITS service

    domains, and within these there can be a number of ITS service groups for

    particular parts of the domain. ISO 14813-1:2007 identifies 11 servicedomains, within which numerous groups are then defined. Within this

    framework, there are varying levels of detail related to definition of

    different services. These details differ from nation to nation, depending on

    whether the specific national architecture building blocks are based

    directly upon services or on groups of functions. Thus, the intent is to

    address groups of services and the respective domains within which theyfit. As these domains and service groups evolve over time, it is intended

    that this International Standard be revised to include them.

    ISO 14813-6:2009 Intelligent transport

    systems - Reference model

    architecture(s) for the ITSISO 14813-6:2009 provides an 'enabling' structure for use in the ITS

    sector. It provides a formal means to enact the ISO/TC 204 decision byresolution to use ASN.1 for data definitions within ITS InternationalStandards. This provides a common message form to enableinteroperability and reuse. It provides consistency of use so thatwhere other aspects of ASN.1 (defined within ISO/IEC 8824 andISO/IEC 8825), such as transfer rules, are selected to be used, they areused in a common and consistent way in order to maximizeinteroperability and reuse.

    It is important to note that ISO 14813-6:2009 does not require the use ofASN.1 for anything other than providing a common and flexible form

    of data definition and this document makes specific provision for thesupport of use of other extant standardised syntax notations…
