Green Technology Concrete Blocks THE IMPORTANCE OF CONCRETE BLOCKS Concrete blocks used for years to build residential homes and its made of Portland cement, blended cement , various types of aggregates and water. The need for energy-efficient construction has become increasingly pressing due to global warming effects and rising energy cost. The building envelope is the interface between the interior of the building and the outdoor environment, including the walls, roof, and foundation. By acting as a thermal barrier, the building envelope plays an important role in regulating interior temperatures and helps determines the amount of energy required to maintain thermal comfort. Minimizing heat transfer through the building envelope is crucial for reducing the need for space heating and cooling. The building envelope can affect the lighting, heating, and cooling needs of the building. These interactions are important to consider when retrofitting or weatherizing buildings to cut their energy use in the most cost-effective way. In conjunction to preparing for the green technology trend an inventor has developed green technology concrete block for houses. The concrete block is lightweight with membrane encasements between. The membrane made of recycled materials. The membrane acts as a physical barrier to shield and reduces the heat incident on building wall from being transferred across the lightweight concrete panels and blocks and entered into the interior of the building. For hot climate countries like Malaysia, the membrane encased inside the aerated lightweight blocks and panels is to impede the heat from outdoors entering into the building. This would make sure a relatively cool indoor ambience thus reducing its reliance on air-conditioning system and subsequently reducing the total energy consumption of the building required for comfortable living. In cold climate countries, it works similarly though in a reverse way by reducing the heat of the warm air inside the building that might escape and transfer out of the building. At the same time lightweight aerated block/panel wall will retard if not prevent the ingress of cold air (outside the building) into the interior part of the building.
