SSimmental Simmental Sale Management Commentsale Management Comments
Welcome to the First Annual Pathway 2 Profit Female Sale. We are pleased to be involved with this exciting new
sale. The last decade has seen the Shologan family fast-tracking a Simmental cowherd, not sparing expense to obtain
the best females available. Through embryo transplant, they in turn, have multiplied these top females in volume, often
mated to very notable sires in the industry.
Then came "Tanker"! Red Tanker is arguably Dynamite's best son or at least in a league with his famous broth-
ers Nevada and Bombshell. Red Tanker has probably improved the high quality donor group at Shologan Stock Farms
and sired the top calves in other herds who used him through A.I. In general, the Shologan offering will be an exceptional
group of Red Tanker daughters out of high dollar cows bred to the $45,000 Remington On Target.
The Mappin Simmentals contingent will offer many years of breeding Simmental, tracing many generations of
cow families to their own program. Functionality takes priority over fancy in this herd of eastern Alberta Simmentals.
Don't even look at the feet or worry about the udders. Soundness has been bred into the Mappin heifers for generations.
You may notice they haven't been afraid to invest in herdbulls, in particular from the Twin Chief program who have only
accentuated the merits of the herd.
The Lake Bottom crew works closely with the Shologan family and have purchased some very good cattle recen-
try to start their nucleus herd of Simmentals. They should be keeping their consignments to build their new herd from,
but the theme from all the consignors is to "sell more than we should so we can support and buy more through the fall".
The herd name N Lazy B is a familiar name called out as a buyer at many Simmental sales over the years. They
dispersed a while back, but their passion for cattle, in particular Simmental, drives them to stay involved in a smaller
scale.During summer tours, I have seen the bulk of the
offering, including the Angus, and would be happy to
appraise any of the cattle on your behalf. Absentee bidders
may use the WLEX system or the confidential services of
MacKenzie Sales Management, or ourselves at Transcon

Welcome to the Pathway 2 Profit Red & Black Angus Female Sale from MSM! It is with a great deal of pride and antici-
pation that we are a part of the Brandls and Shologans female sale in Olds on November 12th.
After having 10 very successful All AI'ed events on this date we are confident that the kind of Angus cattle they will be
offering this year will follow suit just as well. Although Brandls are primarily Black breeders their Red program has taken incredi-
ble strides in the few short years they have been in them. Having been to their bull sale for the past 3 years in Jarvie I can assure
you their hearts and minds are in this Angus breed to the N'th degree!
The philosophy behind their program is quite simple…to raise a sound acceptable and marketable product that will
increase the value of their customer's cattle. I have always been a strong advocate of this concept…purchase genetics only from
operations that have a strong commercial customer base and the BCC operation certainly does. Buy with confidence as no expense
has been spared to bring you very strong future genetic matings through AI, the purchase of the excellent SAR Silver Prairie 173S,
and especially the "30 days of May" on Mulberry the Brandl's purchased in
March.Shologan Stock Farm brings a strong consignment of Red Bred
Heifers, Mark & Pat have assembled a very good herd of Red Angus cattle
to compliment their progressive Simmental operation.
On November 12th in Olds there will be value at all levels on this
exceptional Red and Black Angus group of females. Come and enjoy some
hospitality and join your fellow Angus breeders in support of a hard work-
ing, very dedicated families that truly believe in the cattle industry!!
Yours Truly,
Bryan Mackenzie

Welcome From Brandl Cattle Comp
Welcome From Brandl Cattle Companyany
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Pathway 2 Profit Female Sale. It is also a pleasure to be
working along side an excellent group of cattlemen in the Shologan's, Mappin's, Prezkop's and Bidluk's.
Last Spring when Mark Shologan and I were discussing marketing plans the concept was born to run con-
joining sales of two breeds that compliment each other so well in the commercial industry. For ourselves
we were looking for a venue where we could market both Red, as well as Black Angus females; thus the
Pathway 2 Profit was commenced.
Brandl Cattle Co. is a herd that we have developed over the past 32 years. Since the beginning we
have always insisted on trouble free cattle as I was in school and Mom and Dad were gone to work during
the day, we all needed to sleep at night, so the cattle had to look after themselves. In the early years I had
a lot of desire for the showring and while we were very successful, over the years we have grown to con-
centrate more energy on our commercial bull customers who are the backbone to this industry and our
bread and butter.
As you read through the catalogue you will see that we concentrate on the fundamentals of struc-
turally sound, easy fleshing, functional cattle with breed character. Don't come to the sale expecting to see
a bunch of over fed, fluffy cattle. We are offering a pick of the herd flush, a fantastic donor cow, a rare
embryo package sired by the Agribition Champion Fort Rock, several proven brood cows, bred heifers,
and some outstanding heifer calves that will make excellent cows themselves as well as being super com-
petitive junior projects.
Note that in our offering we have put together several genetic packages of mother/daughter and
mother/daughter/daughter. We breed for uniformity and consistency and are willing to sell these cattle
the same way we like to buy them.
The cattle business is about to enter same very good times. Invest in unique, rock solid, trouble
free genetics. We look forward to hosting you November 12 in Olds, Alberta.

years; Muscle, Performance, Maternal Power with Fertility and Longevity being of
utmost importance. His 12 year old dam continues to be the matriarch of Stacy and

that work for their owners, not the other way around.

About our cowherd…we have a genetically unique cowherd. Many years ago a
few wise old breeders told me, "Don't raise the same thing as everyone else or
why should people come to buy from you when they can get the same genetics
anywhere else." With our unique genetics we continue to receive much interest
globally. In fact we probably have as many or more foreign purebred cattlemen
tour our herd, as there are domestic.
Our black cowherd does not have any Traveler or EXT, not that those aren't good
genetics, but almost everyone has them or a combination there of. Jump at the
chance to add some real outcross genetics to your herd. Our cows consistently
produce bulls for our bull sale that average well in excess of $3000.

tion she's by the maternal patriarch New Trend. New Trend daugh-
ters continue to be responsible for many of the top cattle in the industry and with semen off the market these daughters are getting hard-
er to get a hold of. Now take a look at the photo of her dam 683H. I've been asked if she's a good as her photo - yes, definitely. She
has a $4000 daughter at U-2 and a son named Panama 69P at Ter-Ron and a big, strapping Affirmed son in our bull pen for next spring.
Our vet called her safe to Squall, but I had her marked down later to our Stallion son, either way it's gonna be a good one!

Bodacious and the Dynastar daughter Red Brylor Cherok

$4000 to Kinared and $3100 to Norell. Ginn Family Farm
has a daughter of 204K as does Moose Creek. Two sons of
204K have sold well through our bull sale. This is a struc-
turally correct, deep bodied heifer with great performance.
Lady 31U is out of a super productive New Trend daughter
that we purchased at the T-S Dispersal. She had produced
3 big, powerful bulls for Gilles before coming to our place.
Last year we sold a daughter at the All AI'ed sale to

a ton of muscle and femininity.

He is the most respected, admired and talked about Red Angus bull in modern times. He is the

Welcome From SWelcome From Shologan Stock Fhologan Stock Farmarm
Welcome to the First Annual Pathway 2 Profit Female Sale. It is truly a pleasure for us to welcome
you to this inaugural event. It also is a pleasure to be working with a group of cattlemen that share similar
goals in the Livestock Business.
Shologan Stock Farm is a family operation located at Rochester, AB. We currently are breeding 230
females. Through the use of artificial insemination, embryo transplant and a herd bull battery that we feel
is second to none, we are striving to produce cattle that are functional and will work for our commercial
producers.
The Pathway 2 Profit sale is a collaboration of 2 great breeds that I believe compliment each other.
Our Simmental offering is anchored by the largest group of Tanker daughters ever offered. Tanker we
believe is one of the best sons of TNT Dynamite Black. Tanker truly has the capacity and shape of his
father, yet has added calving ease and correctness to the mix. We have used Tanker successfully on heifers
and they have calved like a dream, the best part is you have a very productive calf at weaning time. You
will also see a select group of females from our embryo program from some of the donors that have
anchored our herd and are becoming breed matrons. As you read the catalogue you will see that our entire
Simmental bred heifer section is bred to the $45,000 Remington On Target 2S bull. Target calves have
blown every one away, the biggest problem is ""We don't have enough of them"". We look forward to see-
ing his influence in our program in the future.
Our Red Angus program has advanced over the past few years with purchases of select cattle from
some of the breed's leading herds. This past spring we took a giant leap forward when we partnered with
Get-A-Long Stock Farm and Brox Stock Farm on the purchase of the Anchor 1 Hitch bull. This Red Angus
bull caused quite a stir this past spring as he had some very progressive Red Angus Breeders bidding on
him.We are very passionate about this great industry we live and work in, and want to try to pass some
of this on to you. If you have any questions about the sale, please feel free to contact us about the offering
and our program or call any of our sale staff at Transcon Livestock or Mackenzie Sale Management.
We look forward to seeing you on November 12 so we can help you get on the
… Pathway
2 Profit… See you in Olds.

As we venture in to the Red Angus business we feel that we have found the missing
link. When I first saw Hitch I knew he was a bull that we had to try to own. Hitch has
the look of a herd bull, from the massive amount of meat over his top, to the muscle in
his twist, Hitch walks out wider than any bull I have seen, and not only wide but tracks
correct. If you want to add something a little different to your red program take a look
at the Red Angus heifers bred to Hitch. We were happy to purchase him with Get-A-
Long and Brox stock Farms.

Sheila is from Dad's favorite cow and for good reason. She may be
one of the most productive cows on the entire place. 63N was a grad-

that with a cow family like LFE Amber 27H, it is no mystery that they work. Her half sister topped the Agribition Sale in 2006 for a

The only Direct daughter of the Legend NLC Good A Nuff this year.
We consider our daughters of Good A Nuff very special as they real-
ly produce well for us. They have the cow look all over them, with
style and shape that give them lots of capacity. As you look down the
bottom of her pedigree you will see the great Sunny Valley Bull Nevada that is the senior herd sire for Wayne & Linda Libkey. Nevada
is a half brother to our herd sire Tanker and I think the Good A Nuff X Nevada works well. If you want a female that will go out and

Welcome From the MapWelcome From the Mappinspins
Welcome to the First Annual Pathway to Profit female sale. We are very pleased to be a part of this sale, and
send out a huge thank you to both Shologan's and Brandl's, as they have worked very hard in getting this event off of the
ground. We have spent many, many years building our herd, and very few females have left the herd through consignment
sales. Over the years, we have established a herd strong in numbers, and even stronger in quality: Good uddered, easy
fleshing, free moving, moderate framed, fertile females that thrive in hard grass country are selected for replacements.
They have to be profitable, or they don't stay. These females produce the bulls we sell at our annual bull sale, the
ShortGrass Simmental Bull Sale, which is held the first Saturday in March in Veteran. These bulls are thick, rugged,
hairy, high performing red and black bulls that are making a big impact on herds in Eastern Alberta and Western
Saskatchewan.
We are bringing a select group of bred heifers and heifer calves to represent our program to Olds on November
12th. You may notice that these heifers represent the genetics of our powerful herdbulls, which we have built our program
around. The bred heifers came straight out of the keeper pen, with 3 out of 4 carrying the service of our proven calving
ease heifer bulls ("Nike" from the Twin Chief program and "Firepower" who we raised ourselves). The calves were
selected from the top end, with several being excellent junior prospects. All are up to date on their vaccinations and have
been Ivomec'ed. The bred heifers were preg-checked in August, with the vet giving her best estimate on calving dates.
These females have not been pushed, and have seen very little grain in their lifetimes: they will milk, their feet will last,
and they will go on to be excellent producers for their new owners.
Our website, although still under construction, will give you a sample of our program. We will also be exhibiting
at Farmfair, with a heifer calf sired by "Firepower" who was one of few females chosen by sales management to represent
the breed in the Northern Image (Farmfair) sale. We look forward to visiting with you, old friends and
new acquaintances. Please feel free to call or stop by the farm, or approach us on
sale day, look for yourselves and visit; you won't be disappointed.

Welcome From the NWelcome From the N Lazy BLazy B
Last year Wava and I dispersed the majority of our
cow herd, but at the time we decided to keep a hand full of
our "pets" and the top end of our open heifers to be sold as
bred heifers this fall. This was our way of avoiding "the
empty nest syndrome", but most of all it gives us an opportu-
nity to be part of an industry we enjoyed and is a large part
of our lives. Even though the work seems harder with age, it
is very rewarding to meet our friends and colleagues at sales
and other functions.
The bred heifers we are offering, will give you anoth-
er opportunity to acquire some of the NLB genetics that go
back to hard working ranch type mothers.
At this time, both of us would like to sincerely thank
you for your support at our cow dispersal.
