Baptism - Parents must be registered with the parish three
months prior to Baptism. Please call the Parish Office to register
for a Baptism preparation session.

Ministry Fair @ St. Paul
This weekend, May 19th & 20th, take a few moments to stop in Fr. Cox Hall to browse the Parish ministry displays, which showcase the good work our committees do. Talk to the rep-resentatives at the tables and consider where
your gifts might be put to good use. Cookies, milk and coffee will be available throughout the fair. Parish cookbooks will also be for sale.
St. Paul Parish Cookbooks
This weekend at our ministry fair, we are selling parish cookbooks, which were put together when Fr. Bill was Pastor. There are a limited number of cookbooks and we want to clear the shelves. Pick up one for a birthday or shower gift, give one to a neighbor who has been kind to you or get one for yourself, if you don’t already have one. They have many delicious and easy recipes contributed by past and present parishioners of St. Paul. The cookbooks are $4 each or 3 for $10.00.
Celebrating a New Feast Day -
Mary, Mother of the Church
The title Mother of the Church (Mater Ecclesiae) has been used in devotion to Mary by her Christian children since ancient times, but this year on March 3rd, 2018, Pope Francis decreed it a new feast day - The Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Moth-er of the Church. It will be celebrated every year in the Roman calendar on the Monday after Pentecost. This year it falls on May 21st. In honor of this rare event - the first celebration of this new feast day - we are giving away free prayer cards, Mary Mother of the Church. These will be located on the tables in the Gathering Space. Please pick one up and enjoy this beautiful intercessory prayer in dedication to Mary, Our Mother of the Church.

Pentecost Sunday: Today we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Church and the beginning of its mission in the world. Pentecost Sunday reminds us that our lives are filled with the Holy Spirit and God has accomplished creative things in us through this gift. We have been entrusted with this great gift of the Holy Spirit. Now is a good time to ask: Are
we being good stewards of this gift? What creative things have we done to glorify God’s accomplishments in us?

will finish the novel, Patron Saint of Liars by Ann Patchett. We meet in Fr. Esser Library at 10:30. Everyone is welcome to come to either discussion.

Rose Sale Thank You Through your dona-tions for the “Roses for Life” Event
each year, you have given Wis-consin Right to Life Education Fund the revenue needed to fund so many Respect Life pro-jects. The teen camps, college grants, educational material, Respect Life booths at fairs, conferences, etc. happen each year because of you. Wisconsin Right to Life is the most suc-cessful state pro-life group in the nation. The number of abor-tions in our state has dropped over 69% since 1987 when rec-ords were first kept. The abor-tion rate in our state has de-clined 15% in just the past three years. Thank you Father and the Staff, Moms & Tots, Human Concerns Committee and pa-rishioners so very much for your support. We could not do it without you.
Rice Bowl Thank You
Once again, parishioners have made our Rice Bowl Len-ten Project successful. We raised $3,223. The Catholic Re-lief Services receive $2,417 and locally, Racine Vocational Ministry receives $806. Internationally and locally we have changed lives.

Spiritual Friendship
Meals on Wheels Drivers
Needed
Since 1964, volunteers have been delivering nutritious meals to seniors who
are homebound or recovering from an illness. The seniors are truly grateful for their daily meals and so enjoy the daily visits with vol-unteers. One senior commented, “I look forward to their smiling faces and cheery words!” The time com-mitment is as little as 1.5 hours between 10:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.. Volunteers “adopt a route” on a specific day of the week, Monday through Friday. Consider this ministry to our elderly and call Ruth at 898-1370.

Update
As of May 1, 2018, St. Paul the Apostle Parish has col-lected $38,202
towards our goal of $56,000. There are 240 donors out of 1,431. Over-all, total pledges raised on a goal of $7.7 is $5,111,064, with 21,960 donors. This is down 1,356 com-pared to last year. There is still time to contribute. Envelopes are available in Fr. Dietzler Gathering Space.

Movie Night ~ “Joshua”
Come enjoy Movie Night on Monday, May 21st at 6:00 p.m. in Fr. Cox Hall. The featured movie, Joshua, is based on the novel by Joseph Girzone, which the St. Paul Book Club has read. It tells the story of a possible second coming of Christ to a small U.S. town. “When a well-intentioned stranger, Joshua (Tony Goldwyn) shows up in a new town, the locals are at first sus-picious, then overjoyed with his presence. He has a charisma that makes everybody feel good. However, the local priests are mystified by him and cannot explain why they feel that way.” This movie is rated G and suitable to be seen by children. Everyone is welcome! Popcorn and water will be provided, or you may bring your own snacks/drinks. A free-will offering will be accepted. Please call the Parish Office if you have questions.

Deeper Understanding of Scripture Pentecost Sunday
Today we cele-
brate the "birthday of
the Church!" Pente-
cost is described in
the first reading from
the Acts of the Apos-
tles. But before the great driving wind and
tongues of fire empowering the Disciples,
the Holy Spirit had already arrived. The
Gospel for today's Mass during the day is
from John 20. Jesus appears to the fearful
disciples after his resurrection. He first
speaks a message of calm. "Peace be with
you." The apostles "rejoiced when they saw
the Lord." When the enthusiastic response
settles down, Jesus "breathed on them and
said to them 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'"
This action is Trinitarian, and it has hap-
pened before. If you turn your Bible back to
the beginning, you'll read: "The Lord God
formed man out of the clay of the ground
and blew into his nostrils the breath of life,
and so many became a living be-
ing" (Genesis 2:7). In the Garden of Eden,
we see God's first, original covenant with
man. The breath of life signifies that origi-
nal indwelling of grace, the special state of
likeness and friendship with God before the
Fall. Here now, in this locked room, the
Apostles receive the long-awaited promise:
the very breath of God, new life, a new cov-
enant.
In the pairing of these two readings-the
Pentecost experience in Acts and the breath
of Jesus in John's Gospel -we see that the
coming of the Holy Spirit is not only an
empowering, it is an indwelling. We have
each received the breath of grace in our bap-
tism. It is confirmed, strengthened, and
deepened in each reception of the sacra-
ments. If we persevere in virtue, the Spirit
of God is alive in us, inspiring our actions of
love. This Pentecost Sunday, how is the
breath of God alive in you?

God, our Father, you alone are the Lord of creation. May all of us who share in the
beauty of life, uphold its sacredness.
Pray that those who are just beginning human life may be protected and nourished to grow to full maturity.

Save the Date - Vacation Bible School
Plunge in to VBS 2018! At Splash Canyon VBS, your children learn God keeps his promises on life’s wild ride! The children will look into the Bible, God’s Holy Word, and explore five Bible accounts where our faithful God keeps his promises to be with us and gives us life and hope through Jesus, our Savior. Vacation Bible School will take place July 9th to July 13th, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for ages 4-9. Come along with us as we sing fun songs, do crazy crafts, eat yummy snacks, play awesome games, and more. Plus, learn that all God’s promises are Yes in Jesus! Can’t wait to see you there! Registration forms are available on tables in the Gathering Space or on our website. Cost is $25 per student. Volunteers are needed! 2018/2019 Christian Formation Registration
Registration for the 2018/2019 Christian Formation Program is now underway. Registra-tion forms are available online or on tables in the
Gathering Space. Please note: If your child will be receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion, preparation begins in first
grade. These Sacraments are normally received in second grade, but one year of formation is required before sacraments may be received. The same holds true for students receiving Confirmation. At least one year of High
School Christian Formation is required before receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. However, Freshman and Sophomore classes are preferred before receiving Confirmation as a Junior. All Christian Formation classes will be held on Sundays this year, with Preschool and Elementary Classes meeting in the morning, and Middle School, High School and Confirmation classes will be held in the evening. Please call the Parish Office or visit our website for more information. Fees from prior years must be paid before we can accept your registration. Catechists are needed! If you would like to volunteer, please contact Amy in the Parish Office.
