UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL CLUB AUTUMN PROGRAMME 2011 – PART 22
We would like to present the second part of the University International Club (UIC) Autumn Programme and warmly invite all AU foreign staff members, spouses and everyone associated with the International Community to participate. At the UIC you can start a new network, meet other foreign staff members and/or their spouses, as well as some Danes. The autumn UIC Programme offers a good selection of meetings and seminars with very different topics. For example, in early October we held a seminar about the Happiest Country in the World. The issue is on the agenda again on 2nd November, but this time with group discussions. On 9th November, Associate Professor Beverly Mortensen will share some experiences from her personal life under the title ‘Reflections by a Nobel Wife’. Later, a talk is scheduled concerning immigration; we will visit a Danish law firm and hear about Danish employment and labour law. On 7th December at 15:00, the Christmas Party that resembles an authentic Danish Christmas Eve takes place. This party has been a popular event for years, which the involvement of all family members adds to make it an unforgettable day. We encourage you to check the most recent news and/or changes in the UIC Monday mails as well as on the UIC website (www.au.dk/uic). Another service to sign up for is the weekly UIC Newsletter, which provides information about events and activities happening in and around Aarhus. Please note that the events, if not otherwise announced, are held on Wednesdays in the DTM Building 1650 on Høegh Guldbergs Gade 4 (see Map on the reverse side). At the UIC, we have helped newcomers settle in since 1998 and have provided information about Denmark, as well as local information about the city and Aarhus University. The UIC welcomes people from all nations, educational backgrounds and languages, although English is commonly spoken. We encourage a positive atmosphere and will do our best to help you integrate. Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you.
