Using word pictures and your imagination, please take a walk with me past the Berean Gardens, and as we walk by the Berean Center you will begin to see God's handiwork as well as the labor of love volunteers have brought to this area. As we enter the wooded area, a new garden is begin- ning to bud and blossom. You can use your sense of smell with the lovely spring air, the soil and decay- ing leaves, the trees and maybe even flower blossoms. Next you will use your sense of hearing as your ears pick up the sounds of water gurgling over the rocks in the stream. This time of year it may be a swelling stream with spring rains and thawing ground. Let's take a moment; sit down upon a rock bench and just soak in the ambiance. What a place of peace and rest! And then we will use our sense of sight and behold the overall picture of two prayer chapels, one for men across a bridge and the other for women at the end of a stone lined pathway. New red doors greet all those who enter and the men's chapel has been upgraded with new windows. Both chapels will soon have a new gray exterior paint treat- ment and be equipped with air con- ditioning. These chapels may remind some of the old gospel song, The Church in the Wildwood. This is truly an overload for the senses. If you are of the male gender, there is a treat for your eyes hanging above the door as you exit, a ban- ner/wall hanging in the men's prayer chapel. This was made with loving hands and a heart of service by Edie Asbury. The Bible that Harry Hock used to preach out of has been preserved in a shad- ow box under glass and is also in the men's prayer chapel. A craftsman made a beautiful cross for the interior front of the ladies prayer chapel. The shadow box and cross were made by Nelson Byers. Have you noticed ref- erences to senses? Let's take a look at these senses in a spiritual “sense”. Sight – In Exodus 14:13 Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of the lord which He will show to you today. Taste – Psalm 34:8 implores us to “taste and see that the Lord is good”. This verse has two of the senses. John 6:35, Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Hearing – Rev. 3:20 I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will have a meal together. Smell – II Corinthians 2:15 For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death, to the other, the fragrance of life.” In Philippians 4:18 -19, we read of gifts that Paul received from Epaphroditus and he said, “They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God. Touch – remember when we were on our walk in the garden and we took a rest and sat on the rock? I am sure you remember that Jesus is the Rock and we are told in Psalm 18:2, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my Savior; my God is my rock in whom I find protection.” This is the ultimate way to touch – to put your whole self upon the Rock. Luke 18:15 One day some par- ents brought their little children to Jesus so He could touch and bless them. In Matthew 9:21 a woman who had suffered for twelve years came up behind Jesus. She touched the fringe of his robe for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” The Prayer Garden is an exciting project and it is sincerely hoped that the changes and improvements will help to awaken everyone to be more involved in corporate and individual prayer times. We are told in Joshua 22:5, Take diligent heed . . . to love the Lord your God and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. And a good way to do this is with “all your senses”!

Iwas recently asked togive a testimony ofwhat God has been

doing in our lives in the last fewmonths. I will share it with youalso. Just in case you missed anearlier issue, our home wasdestroyed by fire on July 5,2010. We have rebuilt on thesame foundation and moved into our new home on March18th.

As I stood across the roadfrom our home and watched ourhouse burn down, I was amazedby a calmness and peace thatallowed me to accept the situa-tion with the assurance thatwhatever happened, God was incontrol. I actually wonderedwithin myself, “I wonder whatGod has in store for us and whatlessons he wants to teach us inthe days ahead.”

THANKSThere are many things I am

thankful for, too numerous tomention all of them. My hus-band and I were amazed at thegenerosity of many people, some we knew and some wedidn't; people from church and

some from our places of work. Our church people came on avery hot day and cleaned thesalvaged items and packed themfor storage. Our insurance com-pany treated us well andresponded in a timely manner. Iam thankful for a God givenoutlook. For the most part Ihave been able to think aboutwhat I have instead of what Ihave lost. I am thankful for thelittle things: for a tilt drawer inmy new sink cabinet; for achance to change a few things inthe design of our home, for agood Christian contractor (thesame one who built our firsthome).

TRUTHTo give a balanced view of

our journey, I must tell you thatwaiting is not always easy; wait-ing on permits, weather relateddelays etc. Then there has beena few times when we remem-bered a lost item and experi-enced grief. It may sound sillybut I actually grieved the loss ofChristmas ornaments. Youknow, the ones that were handmade or had a sentimentalvalue. The interesting thing isthat a week after this occasion, Ifound those ornaments in ourstorage unit, not realizing thatthey had survived fire andwater damage. Both my hus-band and I have grieved the lossof treasured books and personaljournals.

We all deal with stress dif-ferently. My husband hadextreme difficulty sleeping for awhile. And there has been a few

times when I had to ask for for-giveness for a hastily spokenword. When building a housethere are lots of decisions to bemade. I thought this would beeasy because we had just builtour home six years previouslyand we liked our home so mostof the decisions would be thesame. Not so! Trends and col-ors change quickly and buildingcodes have also changed.Occasionally some decisionshad to be made over againbecause of unavailability orbeing cost prohibitive.

TRUSTThrough life's trials and

tests, I have learned that God isfaithful and can be trusted. Mychurch's recent ladies retreat inFebruary had Trust as thetheme. As we sang the oldhymn, Tis So Sweet to Trust inJesus during one of the worshiptimes, I was overcome with joyand gratitude for this blessedtruth found in the fourth verse:

I'm so glad I learned to trustthee, precious Jesus, Savior,Friend

And I know that thou artwith me and will be with me tothe end.

Jesus, Jesus, How I trustHim, How I've proved Him o'erand o'er

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus,O for grace to trust Him more.

This is why I can say no mat-ter what happens, God is Good.

Summer Season Schedule 2011

Godspeed - Ray Heisey and FamilyAt the end of September 2010,

God met us and changed ourplans, resetting our focus on the

country of Mali, West Africa, where thereare street children living in desperation andhopelessness. We have had His hope andHis provision in our lives for manyyears. Now He is calling us to give it awayto these children who are in such need.

You know us as part of your world herein middle America. God knows us in Hisplans for bringing hope not just here onearth, but hope in Him throughout all of eter-nity. We have been blessed and comfort-able. God continues to bless us—and you, Ithink. We have all that we need to livecomfortably. It has been many years sinceany of us has known the pangs of physicalhunger that we could not fill. We have hada place to lay our head at night without fearfor our lives. We have plenty of clothes and(many) more than 1 pair of shoes. We takeschooling for our children for granted, withall the opportunities of sports and extracur-ricular activities that are provided withit. We are free to worship God where andwhen we choose—or choose not to.

We (Ray & MimHeisey and daughter,Julie) are going toMali, West Africa inMay, 2011. We havecommitted to go for atleast a year to workwith Claudia Wintochand Healing 2 TheNations, Int’l, inBamako, Mali’s capitalcity. We are goingbecause we feel thatGod has called us to goand we need to obeyhim. Right now weare doing our best toplan, prepare and pack, making arrangementsfor schooling for Julie, sorting & deciding what to take with us. Weare also trusting that God will provide in theplaces where we cannot see what is needed.

Thank you for being a part of our liveshere. We have been enriched by our friend-ship with you in the past and hope that thosefriendships will continue well into the

future, and across the continents. We do planto send out another letter in March withmore details, and to keep you updated on ourprogress as we continue to prepare.

SincerelyRay, Mim & Julie Heisey

When I grow up, I want to belike you”, was the partingstatement from John

Hawbaker as he gave a tribute to RayHeisey on Sunday evening, March 20. Onehundred fifty friends and family gathered inthe Berean Center for an appreciation din-ner to honor Ray for twenty-six years offaithful service to the camp as administra-tor. John used visuals as he spoke of Ray.The first was a bag of leaves which he pre-sented to Ray as a remembrance of all theleaves that Ray and others remove on CleanUp Days each spring. Another visual was ahand-made poster showing one lone stickfigure at the bottom left and many smallerstick figures all over the poster. This repre-sented the fact that thousands come to Raywith a request for something to be done, andhis usual response is, "Yes, I think we can

do that." A paint can was a visual of themany tasks Ray oversees to get the campready for camp meeting every year. The lastobject was a drawing of a large red heart, toillustrate Ray's heart for God, for people andfor the world.

After a delicious roast beef dinner pre-pared by Dan Asbury, Ken Myers, Board ofDirectors President, emceed a programwhich began with singing of two hymnschosen by Ray. Nelson Byers led thesinging and Sally Weller accompanied onthe keyboard. Nelson then began the trib-utes as he represented the cabin owners.Nelson spoke of many times when Raywould assist the cabin owners with repairsand always with a willing, cheerful spirit.Eugene Heidler, past President of the Boardof Directors and representing the board, spoke of the many projects Ray saw through

to completion and his servant heart. PhilVarner represented the PropertyManagement Team as he spoke of Ray'swork ethic and willingness to help withprojects upgrading the camp. Dale andLinda Winger have worked with Ray fortwelve years. Representing the camp staff,Linda said, “Ray is the best boss I everhad,” and told of Ray's caring and compas-sionate heart. Dale mentioned that Ray wasalways patient and long suffering, even withpeople who were demanding. And eventhough Ray was Dale's boss, he was ahelper and a good listener. Ken Myers com-mented on Ray's forward thinking and hisskill in managing the camp.

To complete the evening, Ray and Mimshared the call of the Lord on their lives togo to the country of Mali in West Africaunder Healing 2 the Nations International.

Their youngest daughter, Julie, will be leav-ing with them in early May for this firstterm of 15 months. They will be workingwith children who have been abandoned onthe street and some that have been taken inby this mission. Mim spoke of Body, Spiritand Soul. Body is the finances needed;Spirit is the emotional support and Soul isPrayer. She asked us to pray for their safe-ty; that their lives will be expended well to

the glory of God and that the team (boththose there and those left behind here atcamp) will carry on with God.

A video slide presentation of theprogress and changes at the camp over thelast twenty-six years was put together byAnita McIlveen with assistance from LauraMusser. The accompanying music was thesong, “Thank you for giving to the Lord”.As we look at the years of labor Ray gave to

Roxbury Holiness Camp, we know thatthere are many people who have beenimpacted by his faithfulness in living a lifepleasing to God and of giving of himself inhumble service.

Have you ever had a long last-ing business relationshipwith someone but never met

that person? Roxbury Camp has beenusing Susquehanna Design and PrintingCompany in Millersburg, Pennsylvaniafor ten years. I have corresponded withRich Frantz via e mail all these years andwe have worked together on each issue ofthe Ripplings. Rich is the graphic design-er who takes the text and pictures I sendhim and does his magic to make theRipplings look professional.

So I decided it would be helpful for meto be able to actually visit Rich in hisworking environment and to see how theRipplings goes through the productionprocess. Last spring I took a trip toMillersburg to see for myself. Rich gaveme a guided tour of the print shop and weenjoyed getting to know each other overlunch.

Susquehanna Printing also producedthe general camp brochure a few yearsago. For a majority of our tenure together,

the Ripplings used to be delivered to theRoxbury post office for mailing. But withmodern technology, they are now mailedout of the Millersburg post office.Susquehanna Printing does the design, printing, folding, addressing and prepara-tion for mailing, a one stop shop!
