Position Description Name: Title: National Distribution Manager Responsible To: Refer to organization chart. Objectives: 1. To oversee the management of the company Distribution Operations. 2. The timely scheduling of all product deliveries in the most cost effective, efficient manner. Hours of Duty: As per letter of employment as a salaried staff member. Duties and Responsibilities: The Fleet Operations Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - 1) The management of the full range of vehicular or transport equipment at Nylex including all Trucks, Trailers, Fork Lifts, Utilities and Cars 2) Obtaining the necessary permits (and / or any other state requirements) and necessary OH&S (or other) information which may be required eg. directories / maps etc. 3) Oversee the purchasing (and other requirements) of various equipment, including trucks, trailers, spare parts, tyres, driver uniforms, transport equipment (eg. ropes tie down straps and ratchets etc.) and other consumables for transport use. 4) Liase with the appropriate personnel in relation to Credit and Fuel cards for both the procurement of new cards and use of existing cards. Nylex’s profitability and competitiveness. 5) To comply with Nylex documentation procedures for transportation and ensure the compliance by various drivers / contractors with this process 6) Co-ordinate the maintenance of, responding to problems relating to, and the general appearance / cleanliness of our complete fleet of vehicles. Position Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Fleet Operations Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: -

1) The management of the full range of vehicular or transport equipment at Nylex including all Trucks, Trailers, Fork Lifts, Utilities and Cars

2) Obtaining the necessary permits (and / or any other state requirements) and necessary OH&S (or other) information which may be required eg. directories / maps etc.

7) Oversee the manufacture of truck trays and trailers with either third party manufacturers and or internal maintenance staff.

8) Maintain a register of Vehicle incidents involving damage to company or third party property. Manage claims from third parties, liaising with insurance company / drivers / management and third parties, to identify causes, apportion responsibility and rectify damage caused to company or third party property.

9) Record and maintain from the available records, information of a statistical nature in appropriate formats relevant to the running of the fleet.

10) Lead and chair monthly transport staff meetings and any other extraordinary transport staff meetings.

11) Attend meetings and prepare KPI reports as required. 12) Work in a safe and efficient manner at all times. 13) Oversee and maintain safe working conditions throughout the transport operations area

including regular review of driver log book hours 14) Continuously improve transport work methods and operations and make recommendations

on equipment renewal. 15) Optimise labour requirements to achieve transport objectives, including the training, hiring

and firing of staff as required under proven commercial / NWS guide lines16) Perform regular performance reviews of all direct reports, including drivers.17) Manage contract drivers including training, performance review, document control and

invoicing/pay rates.

Authority To: -

1) Ensure the security of the company's premises, property or equipment at all times.2) Identify, segregate and resolve non-conforming (manufactured) products. 3) Hire, reprimand and dismiss staff within the transport area in line with any award or

regulatory conditions in force at the time.4) Authorize overtime for transport staff. 5) Report on all functions relating to transportation to the Operations Manager.

Quality System Responsibilities:

1) To understand and comply with the Quality System relevant to this position. 2) To provide recommendations / suggestions for improvements through the Opportunity for

Improvement process. 3) To identify and to act upon reports of Non-conformances and to ensure the correct

implementation and documentation of any process or procedure. 4) To control and verify the implementation of solutions or improvements within the

Transportation area affecting the product, process or procedure. 5) To work with management and all staff in the implementation of the Quality System.

Relationships:

1) To work at the direction of the Operations Manager.2) To manage the Despatch Department and ensure co-operation with Sales and Customer Service

Departments. 3) Provide a leadership role for the drivers4) To encourage and maintain the spirit of teamwork and co-operation within all the various

departments which have your involvement at Nylex. 5) To conduct yourself according to the Nylex "Code of Conduct", and maintain the confidentiality

of the company at all times.

Safety:To comply with the OH&S Act 2004.

Environment:To comply with AS/NZS 14001:2004 Environment Management System

Qualifications / Skills:

Essential:1) Appropriate qualifications / experience or training in fleet operations

management.2) Word processing / spreadsheet / database skills and computer literate. 3) Fluent in the SAP ERP platform environment4) High level of literacy and numeric skills. 5) High level of communication skills. 6) Demonstrated ability in staff supervision. 7) Ability to organize and prioritize maintenance requirements. 8) A commitment to customer service, safety and quality.

Desirable:1) Advanced word processing / spreadsheet / database, (incl. Graphs), skills.
