The Department of Natural Resources has been working diligently to reopen the park and trails. Wildcat Mountain State Park and the Hillsboro State Trail are completely repaired and open to the public. The 17-mile section of trail from the Sparta Train Depot to downtown Wilton is open. The 5.3-mile stretch between Logan Rd. and Kendall is also open. Tunnel #1 is about 3.5 miles west from downtown Kendall. The section of trail from Wilton to Logan Rd. (between Tunnels #1 and #2) remains closed. The public is reminded to stay off all closed trail sections until repairs have been made. ! Other Recreational Opportunities in the Area The Department of Natural Resources provides many different recreational opportunities surrounding the Elroy-Sparta and 400 State Trails. With over 50 miles of the La Crosse River and Great River State Trails open and three State Parks within 25 miles of Elroy, there are many ways to keep exploring Wisconsin!
