Coyotes Spotted During the Day on Green Valley Street & in Greenbelt

There is obviously a food source in our neighborhood for the coyotes to be spotted not only at night but during the day. They are jumpers and can walk along the fence lines. Please be extra diligent when allowing small pets and children outside.

Safety Tips• Keep a close eye on small children when outdoors.

• Keep small pets inside, particularly at dawn and dusk when coyotes are most active.

• Keep pets on a short leash when walking.

• Keep pet food and water dishes inside.

• Secure food and trash at all times and remove all sources of water.

• Pick up fallen fruit.

• Sweep up fallen birdseed, which can attract mice and rats, a common food source for coyotes.

• Remove brush, wood piles and debris where rodents are abundant and coyotes can find cover.

• Install motion-activated lighting or sprinklers.

• If a coyote approaches or acts aggressively, throw rocks, make noise, look big, and pick up small children and pets. Do not turn your back on the coyotes.

• If a coyote is frequently seen around schoolyards or playgrounds or is acting aggressively, contact Animal Control (714-935-6848) or the police department (714-593-4485 or 911 if attacked.)

Market Snapshot: Housing is Currently in a Real Good Spot!A year ago the 30-year mortgage climbed all the way to 5%--housing slowed to a crawl. Since then, rates have plummeted to 3.5%, that is down 30%. For a $700,000 loan, that is a $614 per month savings, or $7,373 per year. That is a HUGE savings!

Thank You for CallingWe would like to thank those of you who have contacted the

Rainbow Environmental Services Picks Up Large Items Free of Charge from Your Home

A portion of your bi-monthly water bill is your trash payment. And your trash payment includes the “10/4” trash service. Rainbow will come to your house four times per year to pick up as many as ten items that do not fit in your trash receptacles. These items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, green waste, and bagged garbage in excess of the receptacle capacity. A separate truck is dispatched for bulky items so advanced scheduling is required. Just give them a call at 714-847-3581.
