LANCASTER, PA www.lancasterseminary.edu 2013 ANNUAL REPORT This 2013 Annual Report of Giving recognizes and celebrates the impressive support of donors who share our commitment to quality theological education. Thanks to your generosity, we exceeded our $1 million goal for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, and are well positioned for continued success and growth under the capable leadership of Rev. Dr. Carol E. Lytch, President of Lancaster Theological Seminary. Private donations are the lifeline of the Seminary. Your gifts have provided scholarships, technology and physical improvements, and the critical educational support required to educate transformational leaders to serve the church now and into the future. Here are just a few highlights from a busy and exciting year that you helped to make possible. INNOVATIVE — INVOLVED — INCLUSIVE Over the last year, Lancaster Seminary provided more than $500,000 in scholarship financial aid, making it possible for students to follow their call to ministry. In 1964, Lancaster Seminary was the first to require MDiv students to complete a cross-cultural seminar. Fifty years later, we remain a leader in integrating theological education with the reali- ties of life outside our campus, continuing a half-century tradition of transformative cross-cultural experiences. Recognizing the importance of enhancing connections to the “wired world,” we completed the installation of the latest Smart Classroom wireless technology in our lecture rooms. Robust web- based infrastructure enhances our ability to continue our tradition of providing the highest quality theological education to students and the community well into the future. We launched our new website with multimedia capabilities and debuted unique hybrid courses that combine the best of online and classroom-based education, carrying on our heritage of personal- ized, high-quality teaching now enhanced with the convenience of high-tech tools. Ever mindful of the importance of preparing future leaders for an increasingly diverse and changing world, Lancaster Seminary’s recruitment program has increased the percentage of students of color from 13% to 36% over the last seven years. More than 3,000 regional clergy and lay people participate annually in our continuing education / lifelong learning programs which feature some of the most renown preachers and theologians in the United States including Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright and Rev. Dr. James Forbes. Lancaster Seminary’s historic campus and architecturally significant buildings require careful stew- ardship. We have begun work with the nationally known nonprofit Partners for Sacred Places on a unique campus preservation and maximization project that also will serve as a national model for seminaries.

recognizes and celebrates the impressive support of donors who share our commitment to quality theological education.

INNOVATIVE — INVOLVED — INCLUSIVEOver the last year, Lancaster Seminary provided more than $500,000 in scholarship financial aid, making it possible for students to follow their call to ministry.

In 1964, Lancaster Seminary was the first to require MDiv students to complete a cross-cultural seminar. Fifty years later, we remain a leader in integrating theological education with the reali-ties of life outside our campus, continuing a half-century tradition of transformative cross-cultural experiences.

Recognizing the importance of enhancing connections to the “wired world,” we completed the installation of the latest Smart Classroom wireless technology in our lecture rooms. Robust web-based infrastructure enhances our ability to continue our tradition of providing the highest quality theological education to students and the community well into the future.

We launched our new website with multimedia capabilities and debuted unique hybrid courses that combine the best of online and classroom-based education, carrying on our heritage of personal-ized, high-quality teaching now enhanced with the convenience of high-tech tools.

Lancaster Seminary’s historic campus and architecturally significant buildings require careful stew-ardship. We have begun work with the nationally known nonprofit Partners for Sacred Places on a unique campus preservation and maximization project that also will serve as a national model for seminaries.

The 1825 socieTyAt Lancaster Theological Seminary

Named for the Seminary’s founding year, The 1825 Society offers two ways to invest in our school’s future by honoring its historic past. an annual gift of $1,825 or a dona-tion of $365 a year for five years (one dollar a day) qualifies for Society membership and benefits. We thank these members whose contributions help support our mission to educate transformational leaders for church and society.

God has richly blessed this school in this past year. God has used you and your gifts to “do far more abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Beyond speechless wonder, the only genuine response to all this is gratitude — a heartfelt thankfulness that makes us generous, less as a duty than as the least we can do in response to all God does for us.

GIVE A GIfT ThAT CREATES A LASTING LEGACyWe prayerfully ask you to consider naming Lancaster Theological Seminary among those organizations that will receive support once you or your spouse has passed on. A charitable bequest is the simplest of all planned gifts. Just a little bit of time today can create long-term impact. If you would like more information on how your bequest might best be used to help strengthen the future of Lancaster Seminary and our students’ and graduates’ ministries, please call Crystal Mills, Vice President of Advance-ment, at (717) 290-8738. If you’ve already named the Seminary in your estate plan, please let us know that as well, so that we might express our thanks and count you among those special members of our Faith Legacy Society.
