When we opened Pierre Victoire in 1996 we wanted to createsomewhere for people to enjoy authentically cooked, traditional dishes inan informal environment at reasonable prices, the way the French do…Fourteen years on, and we’re still doing just that – and we’re busier thanever!

Our team of chefs, led by Pascal Bouchet, have earned high praise fortheir signature dishes such as Duck Confit, escargot, moules-frites,tartiflette and fondue savoyarde. And the restaurant itself is certainlyinformal with its rustic furniture and candles, but our customers love it,and most are regulars.

Eat from £5.90 at lunch time, and in the evening choose from the à lacarte menu or one of a number of prix fixe menus, such as thepre-theatre menu which offers 2 courses and coffee for £9.90. For groupsand parties of up to 60 wanting to celebrate a birthday or graduation, wehave a couple of 3 course menus starting at £19.50. We also have aspecial three course a la carte menu, Sunday to Friday, £19.90.

The Brasseries were born from something that is far more important to methan just eating, it is eating in company. Not just any company of course, company that means something to you; be they family, friends, lovers oreven colleagues. This has its roots in exactly the same place as my loveof food; the family table and the cooking of Maman Blanc. The food sheproduced season in season out was the canvas to our family life; familymeals were the centre of our lives.

Brasserie Blanc is split into two main rooms and a small private diningroom. This gives it an intimate and bubbly atmosphere. The Garden Roomis available for private hire and can accomodate up to 110 guests. Thesmall Salon Privé holds about 12 people and it pleases me to see it oftenused for family celebrations, the noise spilling out into the mainrestaurant. Most Sunday’s I have lunch here, chez moi.' When Jamie's Italian was first conceived, the starting point was tore-create what Italians are most proud of - fantastic, rustic dishes, usingrecipes that have been tried, tested and loved! Jamie talks about "feelingItalian" and in Gennaro Contaldo, we can tap into real thing. A greatmentor for our young chefs and someone who, as a boy growing up ina tiny fishing village on the Amalfi coast, learned how simple, freshingredients, prepared and cooked with love and passion (a phrase heuses every day - and means!) become truly great dishes.

So of course we wanted to serve exceptional food, but our aim was alsoto create an environment with a "neighbourhood" feel, inspired by the"Italian table" where people relax, share, and enjoy each other'scompany. Jamie's Italian was designed to be accessible and affordable,a place where anyone is welcome and everyone will feel comfortable,no matter how much you spend or how long you stay.

Shanghai 30's, located in a 15th century building across the street fromChrist Church gardens, is the latest addition to the Oxford dining scene.Next door to 'Alice's Shop', better known as The Old Sheep Shop in "AliceThrough the Looking Glass", Shanghai 30's occupies the building thatwas formerly the Bishop's Palace and more recently housed the famousRestaurant Elizabeth.

Over 50 years The Elizabeth built a reputation for serving quite simply thebest food in Oxford and its name is still synonymous with quality. Shang-hai 30's are very much continuing that tradition and an elegant andrefined atmosphere is exuded throughout this graceful Chinese restaurant. There are two dining rooms; the larger one is classy and stylish and morethan capable of hosting the most ostentatious banquet whilst the otheris a cosy panelled room offering a snug and inviting ambience.

The modern French menu at Raymond Blanc's two-Michelin starred LeManoir aux Quat' Saisons restaurant has been described as 'a twist ofimaginative genius' and the cuisine is undoubtedly the focus of everyguest's visit. Le Manoir has retained two Michelin stars for 25 years.

The quality of the food stems from the freshness and purity of itsingredients. The two-acre kitchen garden produces 90 types of vegetableand over 70 varieties of herb, which are used in Le Manoir's kitchen.Raymond Blanc has been a champion of the organic movement for thelast 20 years and comments 'flavour alone would be a reason to buyorganic food, quite apart from its freedom from additives'.

Gary Jones, who trained with Raymond, became Executive Head Chef inAugust 1999. "Gary is a brilliant leader and the most gifted chef I know.He has added another layer of strength to the team. So the adventuregoes on." RB commented.
