one is a two-hander, dealing with the perennial issues of money and family, passion and deceit, bureaucracy and prejudice, and each

has a twist at the end.

a;ernoon they begin to reminisce about the �me when they first met in Rome several decades earlier, with unexpected revela�ons.

A;er a life�me’s involvement in Drama, Thomas Bewley turned professional five years ago, since when he has played a variety of film

and stage roles. He first read Edith Wharton’s short story while lying in a hammock in Ecuador and is delighted to have this opportunity

of bringing it to the stage.

Petra, a young woman from a �ny barely-known country in the East turns up at the desk of Immigra�on Officer, Margaret Denton, to

claim asylum in the UK. Margaret, a worn-out, overworked cynic tries to fulfil her duty to this young woman, but Petra starts to get un-

der her skin. Whilst ba2ling with bureaucracy, the emo�onally charged stories of the women start to emerge – having an unexpected

effect on both their lives.

Mary Sco2 trained as a mature student in ac�ng at an academy in Canada and went on to do a classic theatre appren�ceship with a

professional company for a year before returning to the UK in the mid 90s. Since then she has been primarily involved in coaching ac-

tors, performing in fringe theatre and la2erly had started wri�ng and producing her own material. Her wri�ng/direc�ng debut was a

theatre - physical theatre - music produc�on of ‘Faces’ in Vienna in 2007.
