Pleasant Local Schools Board PolicyThe Pleasant Local School District Board of Education has adopted a policy to excusestudents from the half credit of Physical Education required to graduate from PlejsantHigh School. This Phys. Ed. Waiver is based on participation in marching band,cheerleading, or an interscholastic athletic team for two seasons in two separate schoolyears. Twenty-one credits will still be necessary for graduation.

Guidelines1. The student must complete two full seasons as a member of an athletic team,cheerleading, or marching band. The activity must be sponsored by Pleasant HidjiSchool. If an athletic activity is used, it must be recognized by the Ohio High SchoolAthletic Association.

2. The two seasons must be completed in two different school years.

3. Any suspension (either from school or extra curricular) during the season for a i lyreason that causes the student to miss any portion of the season will nullify thattowards this requirement.

4. Activities beginning in the 2012-2013 school year and beyond will count towaHd thiswaiver.

5. A student using the wavier must complete the entire requirement through extracurricular activities. Any student who only completes one season must still take tHe entire0.S credit (two semesters) of Physical Education classes.

6. Those students choosing to waive Phys. Ed. will be required to earn a half cred1 t inanother course of study.

7. Any student who has not completed the waiver requirements by the end of their juni »iyear will be required to take Phys. Ed. as a senior.

8. No grade or quality points will be assigned to the waiver of credit.

9. A student who becomes injured must have participated in one half of the season ormore and must remain a member of the activity throughout his/her injury.

10. The head coach or director will determine, at the conclusion of the season, if therequirements listed above have been met.

Procedure to Obtain Phvs. Ed. Waiver1. Following participation in one full season of a sport/marching band/cheerleading, thji;student should obtain a Physical Education Waiver Form from the Pleasant HighSchool guidance office or guidance website. (A form will be completed for both seasons.)

2. The student must complete the top portion of the form and then have the form verifiedby their coach or director AND the high school athletic director or principal.

3. The student will submit the form to the high school guidance counselor. A copy wil beplaced in the student's cumulative file.

4. Once the season #1 and season #2 forms are submitted, the guidance office will note|the Phys. Ed. as complete on the student's transcript for no credit, no grade, and noquality points.
