While operating the lift, keep all body parts, longhair, loose clothing and jewelry away from allmoving parts, including (but not limited to) thedrive-train mechanism, cables, pulleys and liftplatform. Be sure the lift cradle is completely loweredbefore any adjustments or repairs are made tothe winch or drive-train mechanism.

Always keep all people clear of the boat lift sup-port structure and lifting cradle. Never swim orplay near a boat lift, even if it is not being oper-ated.

Make sure the boat lift is completely clear ofpeople or other obstructions prior to operating.Do not operate a boat lift with people inside theboat.

Never operate a boat lift with protective coverremoved from drive train system.

Never allow anyone on or under this lift system,especially while it is being operated, or it is sup-porting the weight of a watercraft.

Stay clear of boat lift when someone is enteringor exiting the lift with a boat. Never try to assistthe boat’s direction while it is in motion (eitherfrom inside or outside the boat).

Never work on or make adjustments to boat,boat lift or boat lift accessories while the lift issupporting the weight of the boat.

Lift must be assembled and installed properly ormechanical failure and possible injury may occur.

Never overload a boat lift. See capacities/specifi-cations for important information regarding theboat’s actual weight and boat lift capacity limita-tions.

If watercraft is open to the accumulation of rainwater, be sure boat’s drain plug is pulled.Additional water weight may cause the maximumlift capacity to be exceeded, resulting in potentiallift damage or bodily injury.

Never operate a boat lift that is not level. Undernormal conditions a boat lift operates underextreme force. When the lift is not level, theseforces are greatly multiplied and bodily injury ordamage to the lift can result.

Perform all inspections and maintenance on aregular basis. Replace any worn parts immedi-ately to avoid potential lift failure. Ensure all pul-leys are operating properly and that all cablesand their attach points are secure and free ofexcessive wear and fraying. See Inspections &Maintenance section for all important details.

Never lift a tow boat with water filled ballast bags.This extra weight will overload the lift.

WARNINGBodily injury or damage to lift system may resultif installation or removal of this lift is attemptedwithout first reading and understanding the instal-lation and removal section of this manual.

If this unit is equipped with a canopy, severe winddamage may occur if the lift is not securely helddown to the lake bottom by screw anchors or bysome other means.

FLOE lift systems have not been tested in brack-ish or salt water conditions. Lift failures due toinstallations in brackish or salt water locations willnot be covered by FLOE’s warranty. FLOE willnot be responsible for incidental or consequentialdamages resulting from these installations.

Never install the lift system in a body of waterwhereas either the rising water or wave actionwill not always flow under the main lift beam. Forexample, do not install lift in bodies of water withsignificant water fluctuation or large water bodiesthat have excessive wave action.

The electrical system is not designed to be sub-stantially saturated, immersed or submerged inwater. FLOE will not be responsible for inciden-tal or consequential damages resulting from elec-trical damages in these situations.

This manual is intended to serve as an owner’s use and maintenance guide for a lift that has been properly assembled by a qualified, trained professional. Detailed assembly instructions

are packaged with the lift systems.

If the boat lift system is not assembled, installed, or operated properly, mechanical failure,as well as serious injury or death, could result. See to it that all users understand that this lift system is a piece of heavy equipment that requires the use of good

judgement and the knowledge of its dangers and limitations.

______ I understand that a 5,000 pound total boat weight could easily over-load one of the main lift beams on a 5,000 pound capacity lift. For instance, if the boat was positioned so that one main lift beam supported3,000 pounds and the other only supported 2,000 pounds, the lift would be over-loaded. For this reason, FLOErecommends that your total loaded boat weight doesn’t exceed 85% of the lifts rated capacity and that you locate and place the boat’s center of gravity (balance point) in the center of the two lift beams.

______ I understand that the boat lift needs to be installed level and must be kept level while it is in use. A lift that isn’t level will have a reduced lifting capacity of 5% per 1” of being out of level.

LIFT CAPACITIESIt’s recommended that the total loaded weight of the watercraft doesn’t exceed 75 to 85% of the total lift capacity.

The total capacity of a lift is the combined capacity of eachof the boat lifts two main lifting beams.

Never exceed the weight capacity of either main lift beam.For instance a 5,000 `lb capacity boat lift is limited to 2,500lbs for each main lift beam. It is very easy for a 4,000 lbboat to exceed the capacity of a 5,000 lb boat by not parking on the lift in the correct position.

BEFORE PUTTING A BOAT ON THE LIFT YOU NEEDTO KNOW THREE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS:

1. Determine the total loaded boat weight.Weigh your boat loaded with fuel, water and everything inthat you could ever have in it when it is parked on the boatlift. Not all manufacturers published boat weights are accu-rate because they don’t account for motors, gear, fuel,water, etc.

2. Determine the boats center of gravity or CG.A boat’s CG is the location under the boat hull which theboat will balance if sitting on a narrow object. Your dealeror the manufacturer of the boat should be able to help youlocate the boat’s CG. Be sure that the motor and gearweight have been taken into consideration. See Illustration A.

3. The boat should be parked so that the boat’s CG orbalance point is centered between the two main lift beams.See Illustration B.

Once you know that your boat is well within the boat liftsrated capacity and the location of the boat’s CG develop apositioning method that will ensure that all users of theboat lift will park with the Boat’s CG in the center of the lift.Here are a couple of suggestions to do this consitently:

· Use a motor stop.

· Note the proper location of the boat on the lift and use some sort of marking system or labels.

· If equipped with canopy, center the canopy overthe boat when the boat’s CG is in the center of the lift, park with the boat centered under thecanopy.

· You can even hang an object such as a tennisball so it just touches the windshield when theboat is properly positioned.

If your boat is not positioned properly, you can extremelyoverload one of the main lifting beams. See Illustration C.

Never exceed the lift’s rated capacity. Doing socould cause structural/mechanical failure andserious injury or death.

Another way to determine whether the lift’scapacity is adequate is to log onto FLOE’s web-site, www.floeintl.com, and click on the Boat Lift

Selector program. This program will calculateoptimal boat positioning and guide you to thebest lift selection for your boat. It even has a linkthat will help you determine the weight of yourcraft. Your dealer can also assist you in makingthe best choice.The following simple exercise is a second, butless accurate, way to manually determine thelift capacity needed for your boat.1. Obtain the boat’s actual total weight including

motor, fuel, water, equipment, accessories,etc.

2. Subtract the weight of the motor and fuel fromthis number.

3. Take the boat’s weight, (the result of step 2),divide it in half and add the weight of themotor and fuel to that number. This numberis the approximate weight that the rear liftbeam will need to support.

4. Take this number and multiply by two. Thiswill equal the approximate minimum rated liftcapacity needed for the boat.

For instance: If the boat is an I/O that has a totalloaded weight of 2900 lbs. and the fuel, motor andlower unit weigh approx. 800 lbs. it would be cal-culated as follows:

• 2900 - 800 = a boat only weight of 2100 lbs.• 2100 / 2 = 1050 lbs. This is the approximate

boat weight that will be supported by each liftbeam (not including motor and fuel).

• 1050 + 800 = 1850. This is the approximateactual weight that the rear beam will need tosupport.

• 1850 x 2 = 3700. This is the minimum overallboat lift capacity needed.

This example does not include any additionalhardware or accessories that would affect thecapacity needed.

If watercraft is open to the accumulation of rain water, be surethe boat’s drain plug is pulled. Additional water weight maycause the maximum lift capacity to be exceeded, resulting inpotential lift damage or bodily injury.

You must weigh your boat fully loaded, including fuel, gear, etc.to get its accurate weight. It is common for published dryweights to be considerably lower than actual loaded weights.Lift and/or boat damage due to overloading is not covered byyour warranty.

EACH LIFT BEAM IS RATED TO SUPPORT ONE-HALF OF THE LIFT’S TOTAL CAPACITY.

WINCH SELECTION & USEYou can customize your FLOE vertical lift with the winchstyle that best fits your needs and budget. The DC battery-powered winch offers an effortless way to raise and lowerthe cradle lift beams and boat by simply pushing a button.Another option is the manual winch. Although you supplythe power with a manual winch, FLOE’s gear-reduced winchsystem, combined with a large crank wheel and speedknob, makes it easy to raise and lower your boat.

DC WINCH WITH ELECTRONICCONTROL SYSTEM

With the DC Winch with Advanced Switch Control (ASC)(Fig. 2), FLOE has combined the dependability of a cus-tom 12 Volt DC StrongArm winch manufactured byDutton-Lainson Company, andFLOE’s advanced electronic controlsystem to give you standard wiredremote lift operation and the optionof wireless remote lift operation.With the DC Winch with ASC, youcan raise or lower your boat bypushing the up or down buttons onthe standard wired remote pendant(Fig. 3). The wired remote’s 30’ cordenables you to place the winchopposite your dock, and still havethe controls within easy reach ofyour dock or boat.

With the purchase of the option-al wireless remote kit, the lift can be operated with a smallhand-held transmitter. This transmitter (Fig. 4) also oper-ates the interior light and optional floodlights. See pages12 and 29 for more information on these optional features.

SELECTING THE BATTERYBefore assembling or usingthe DC Winch withElectronic Control System,you need to select and pur-chase a suitable battery.The following sections giveyou guidelines for selectingthe correct battery, andkeeping it properly charged.

The recommended batteryis a 12-Volt, deep-cycle,Group 27 (case size), with600 cold cranking amps and stud post terminals with wingnuts (lead top posts). An Interstate SRM-27 meets these cri-teria. FLOE does not provide the battery.

WARNINGBatteries that are improperly connected can cause dam-age to the lift system, batteries, and may cause a poten-tial explosion.

Battery boxes include a built in battery condition indicator to let you knowthe level of your charge.

When charging batteries, it is important to follow the man-ufacturer’s instructions for both the battery and chargingsystems to ensure that batteries are not damaged byimproper or over charging.

CONNECTING THE BATTERY

The Advanced Switch Control (ASC) with DC Winchcomes standard with an aluminum battery tray, plasticbattery box, and the cabling to connect the battery to theelectronic control panel. Attach the ring connector on thered power cord with the automatic overload circuit break-er to the positive side of the battery, and the black cord tothe negative, as shown in Fig. 8. The circuit breaker willtrip if an excessive amount of current is drawn through it.If this occurs, refer to the section on Troubleshooting theDC Winch on page 15 of this manual.

ASSEMBLING THE DC WINCH WITHADVANCED SWITCH CONTROLInstructions for assembling the DC Winch with ASC arepackaged with the winch. Refer to those instructions fordetailed, step-by-step procedures for attaching the batterytray; installing the winch, eyebolt and lifting cable; attachingthe magnet holders, and locating the wired remote. The fol-lowing sections will give a brief overview of the electricalconnection panel, how to connect the limit switch and itspurpose, how to use the wired remote, and general lift oper-ation methods. Refer to your instructions for additionalinformation. Please read all warnings carefully.

All battery and motor connections must be corrosion freeand tight. If not maintained properly, excessive heat willbe generated which can melt the connections.

WARNING

SEASONAL STORAGEThere is no need to cover the DC winch for winter stor-age. If you choose to do so, do not close or seal thebottom of the cover as this will trap moisture andencourage internal corrosion.

For battery care, disconnect the ring connectors and fullycharge the battery according to manufacturer’s instructions.

CHARGING THEBATTERYIn order to achieve peak lift per-formance and maximum batterylife, the battery must be properlycharged and maintained. If the bat-tery is run down or faulty, the liftsystem will either move very slowlyor not at all.

Charging Option #1 There are three ways to charge the12-volt battery. One way is toaccess the battery posts and chargethe battery as you would normally. Charge the battery permanufacturer’s instructions for both the battery and thecharger.

Charging Option #2 - To maintain a battery charge with theoptional FLOE 12-Volt solar panel, Fig. 5. mount panel perincluded instructions and wire it to the battery as shown inFig. 7. Be sure the panel faces the sun during peak daylighthours. A solar panel provides continuous charging on sunnydays.

NOTE: Solar panels will only maintain a charge on batter-ies. Be sure batteries are fully charged before installing asolar panel.

DC WINCHADVANCED SWITCHCONTROL(ASC)The ASC is de-signed to allow for easyhook up of standardand optional compo-nents. Proper hook upto the panel will beaddressed as eachcomponent is coveredin this manual.

LIMIT SWITCH CONNECTION ANDIMPORTANT INFORMATIONThe DC Winch ASC is equipped with an automatic uppermagnetic safety limit switch. The two prong connector forthe limit switch assembly plugs into the two prong con-nector on the Advanced Switch Contol box. The magnetsfor the limit switch are housed in two aluminum tubes.The first of these tubes, which contains the limit switch, ismounted to the inner side of the winch corner post,approximately 6” below the upper clamp as shown inFig. 11. The second magnet holder is attached to thetop of the side cradle beam (flush with the outside edge)in line with the corner post and limit switch. When thecradle is raised, as the magnet holder on the cradlebeam passes the limit switch on the corner post, themagnetic force triggers the switch. Fig. 12. Once a limitswitch is triggered, it prevents the winch from raising thecradle bed beyond its normal travel limit. Exceeding thislimit will cause severe damage to the winch or lift.

WARNINGWhen raising your lift the winch cable must wrap aroundthe drum from the inside to the outside or severe damageto winch and it’s brake system may occur. It may alsocause your boat to slowly lower to the water. If your winchis wound up backwards, simply lower the lift and continuerunning the winch until the lift platform raises.

CONNECTING AND USINGTHE WIRED REMOTEThe DC Winch with AdvancedSystem Control (ASC) comes stan-dard with a wired remote control. Theremote plugs into the 10” ASC cordwith a blue ring. If the plug is notinstalled properly, the lift will not oper-ate. To raise the lift, simply press the“Up” button, to lower the lift press the“Down” button. (Fig. 15). The lift willstop automatically when it reachesthe end of its up travel limit or whenthe button is released. Never relycompletely on the limit switch. Read the warnings on pages16-17 and the “Stop Here” section on page 17.

The corded remote has a 3-position key switch. The keyis removable from all positions. OFF position disables thewired and wireless remotes. ON position provides wiredand wireless power with the key in or out. In the WIRE-LESS position, only the wireless remote will work with thekey in or out.

The wired remote is weather resistant but not waterproofand should not be exposed to the elements. Installationunder a canopy system is recommended. If the remote isnot covered by a canopy, unplug and store indoors whennot in use. Turn the wired remote to the off position whilestoring the lift to ensure power is not beng drawn from thebattery durng the off season. NOTE: If the remote is acci-

dentally submerged in water, to avoid corrosion on the con-

tacts, it should be taken apart

and blown out until dry.

If the lift is equipped with acanopy system, the cord onthe remote should beattached with Velcro one-wrap to the canopy uprighttube and the canopy hoop .Then run the cord forwardfrom the frame’s midpoint,or completely across thehoop, so that the pendantcan be located for easyaccess from either the boator the dock. (Fig. 16). Refer to the assembly instructionspackaged with the winch for details.

NOTE: If the lift is not equipped with an optional

canopy system for routing the wires to the dock side

and it does not have the wireless remote option, the

lift system should be installed so that the electrical

connection panel is next to the dock.

The magnet holder on the cradle beam must remainintact and must be checked periodically. There should beno more than 1/2” gap between the inner edge of the sidecradle beam and the corner post when the lift bed is shift-ed away from the corner post. If there is more than 1/2”gap, adjust the side cradle beam toward the corner post.(See your boat lift assembly instructions.)

WARNING

Do not operate winch without reading and understandingthis warning and all other warnings on this lift and in theowners manual. (1) Do not exceed the winch’s ratedcapacity. (2) Inspect the winch cable often to ensure it isnot frayed. Replace as necessary. (3) Inspect the winchgears often to ensure they are not dangerously worn.Replace as necessary. (4) Grease the cable and thewinch gears annually. (5) Do not rely on the safety limitswitch to stop the upward bed travel.

WARNING

DC WINCH ROTATIONWhen using a DC winch the winch drum must always rotatefrom the inside to the outside when raising your boat. Whenwound correctly, the cable will go up the back of the winch,or the side closest to the corner post on which it is mounted.

If the cable is woundthe wrong directionon the drum of theDC winch, the weighton the lift will fight thebrake, so that thecradle lift beams mayslowly lower, drop-ping your boat gradu-ally back into thewater. To correctthis, simply use thewired remote tolower the lift and let itcontinue to run untilthe lift cradle beamraises again.

CONNECTING AND USING OPTIONAL WIRELESS REMOTEAn optional wirelessremote control (Fig. 17)will allow operation of thelift and LED floodlight froma distance. This systemincludes a wireless trans-mitter and two key fobremotes. Plug the wirelesscord into the 7” cord withyellow ring on theAdvanced System Control(ASC) panel (Fig. 18).Then attach the combination receiver to the post. Seeassembly instructions for more details.Should the remote fail to perform properly, contact your

dealer for assistance.You may also refer to thetroubleshooting sectionof the instructions formore suggestions andinformation on how tocode your transmitter.These brief steps willhelp to diagnose theproblem.

1. Lift moves without buttons pushed. Unplug thewireless remote from the Advanced System Control(ASC) panel and remove the batteries from the hand-heldtransmitter. Plug the radio remote receiver back in, and ifthe lift still moves, it is possible that the wireless receiverunit is faulty. If the lift does not move, replace the batter-ies in the transmitter to determine if it was transmittingwhen it should not have been. Leave the battery out ofany transmitter determined to be faulty and contact yourdealer.2. Lift will not move when the transmitter button ispushed. Check to ensure that the batteries in all trans-mitters are good. If a transmitter has been dropped in thewater, dry it out or replace it. If the problem persists, itmay be due to radio interference in your area. Whenthere are two remotes and both are transmitting at thesame time, one signal will cancel out the other, even if thesecond transmitter is for another lift.

The transmitter uses a lithium 3V watch battery, availablethrough your dealer, Part 511-00831-00. (Sony CR2032)

WARNINGIt is important that you never raise or lower the lift usingthe wireless remote until you are sure no one is on ornear the lift.

WARNINGIf the lift should raise or lower by itself without operatingthe remote control, disconnect the battery cable ringconnectors immediately, if you are able to do so with-out the risk of injury. Contact your local dealer orFLOE International.

RAISING AND LOWERINGLIFT MANUALLYIf there is no power to theDC winch, the lift bed canbe manually lowered withthe emergency handcrank packaged with thewinch. Make sure bat-tery power to the lift isdisconnected beforeattempting to lower orraise the cradle liftingplatform manually.Remove the plug on theside of the winch housingand insert the crank han-dle (Fig. 20). Turn coun-terclockwise to lower thelift. Continue turning untilthe cradle is fully lowered and there is slack in the cable.Turning clockwise will raise the lift.

WARNINGMake sure battery power to the DC winch is disconnectedbefore attempting to lower or raise manually.

DC WINCH TROUBLESHOOTING A. Lift won’t go up or down1. Check to see if the key on the wired remote is turned to

the ON position.2. Check battery(s) condition and that it is properly charged.

Each battery should have between 12.7 and 13.8 volts.3. Check to see that all battery connections are corrosion

free and tight.4. Check plug connections from the Advanced Switch

Control (ASC) going to limit switch and remote(s) toensure they are plugged in properly and making positivecontact.

5. Check the wire connections from the Advanced SwitchControl (ASC) to the motor to ensure they are corrosionfree and making positive contact. Connections are locat-ed under the motor cover.

6. Check auto reset circuit breaker or fuse. If the breakerhas tripped it should reset after a couple of minutes whenit cools down. If not sure it is working, you can bypass it.• If circuit breaker has tripped or fuse is blown chancesare the motor is drawing too much current and it couldblow the fuse or trip the breaker again. Check the follow-ing:

a. Is the lift overloaded or has it exceeded its maxrun/cycle on time

b. Is the brake improperly engaged• With the winch units, the brake will drag if the cable

is wound up backwards on the drum. Refer to decal onwinch corner post.

• With VSD drive units, if the brake is not releasingwhile in operation it will drag and cause the drive to drawexcessive current. You should hear the brake “click” onthe outside end of the VSD power unit box when raisingor lowering the lift.

c. Additionally there may be something causing fric-tion in the system, such as a problem in the drive train, orthe cable/pulley system has an issue.

B. Lift will only work in one directionIf this occurs, you may have a problem with the end oftravel limit switch(es).

1. Test the end of travel limit switch(es) by using the limitswitch bypass plug located in the tool pouch.

2. To do this, un-plug the limit switch plug going into the ASCand replace it with the bypass plug.

3. If the cradle is up, press the down button and vice versa. 4. Use extreme CAUTION. When using the bypass plug the

limit switches will no longer shut down the lift when itreaches the end of its travel. This means you must NOTrun the lift either all of the way up or down.

5. When going up, stop short of the “Stop Here” decalslocated on the corner post.

6. When going down, stop as soon as the cradle stops mov-ing.

See page 29-30 for additional information.

FLOE has matched a winch and cable pull style to eachlift model to assure optimal performance. The V2000 liftuses the 2500 DLB model winch with a double-pull cable.“Double-pull” indicates that the winch cable goes througha pulley-block and then directly back up to the winchdrum. This increases the winch’s capacity and decreasesthe amount of effort you must supply. The V2600 lift takesthe B3500 winch and has a single-pull style cable.Because the winch on this model is more powerful thanrequired, there is no need for a pulley-block. The V3400and V4200 model lifts also use the B3500 model winchwith a double-pull cable setup.

MANUAL WINCH CRANK WHEELFLOE includes a “big wheel” with a speed knob attach-ment that makes using the manual winch easy. (Fig. 21)The V2000 & V2002 lifts come with a 36” wheel, while theV2600 through V4200 models are packaged with 42”wheels. These large-diameter wheels dramaticallyreduce the amount of effort that a regular crank handlewould require to raise or lower the boat. The speed knobis easy to grasp and allows you to turn the wheel with onehand.

MANUAL WINCH OPTIONFLOE offers manual winches for the V-2000 through V-4200 lift models. (Fig. 21) The brake style winch is man-ufactured by Dutton-Lainson. It operates by maintainingpressure on the brakepad any time thewinch is beingcranked to raise thecradle lift beams. Asthe “dog” catcheseach cog of thesprocket, you will heara clicking sound. Thisindicates that thebrake is working prop-erly, and that thedrum is turning whilethe brake preventsthe cable fromunwinding uncontrollably. When you “back the wheel off”by turning it in a counterclockwise direction, the pressureon the brake is reduced, allowing the smooth lowering ofthe cradle lift beams and boat.

WARNINGWhen raising lift a clicking sound should be heard indicat-ing proper rotation and brake function. If no sound isheard a fast uncontrollable spin-down could occur.Attempting to stop the crank wheel during an uncontrol-lable spin-down could result in severe injury.

WARNINGThe main cradle lift beams should never act as a wave-break (fig. 23). Make sure that the lift platform is alwayseither raised high enough so that the waves pass underit or lowered completely beneath the water. Wavesbreaking against the cradle lift beam will cause unnec-essary wear on the lift’s frame.

RAISING AND LOWERING THEMAIN CRADLE LIFT BEAMSBefore raising or lowering the main cradle lift beams it isimportant that you understand how to ensure that the lift islevel and in adequate water depth. Please read the safetystatements and information in this section carefully beforeoperating the lift for the first time.

Never allow anyone on or under this lift system or theboat it is supporting at anytime. If the lift platform were tofall, serious injury or death could result.

DANGER

If the lift is equipped with a canopy, it is important to stopraising the boat before it or or any accessories make con-tact with the canopy frame or fabric.

WARNING: Many boats have stowed plug-in style bow

and stern lights that while plugged in are higher than

the rest of the boat. Be sure these are removed when

entering or exiting the lift, or lowered prior to lifting the

boat to its normal raised position.

Stay clear of boat lift when someone is entering or exitingthe lift with a boat. Never try to assist the boat’s directionwhile it is in motion (either from inside or outside the boat).

DANGER

Never work on or make adjustments to boat, boat lift, orboat lift accessories while the lift is supporting the weightof the boat.

When the main cradle lift beams are in their lowered posi-tion on a properly leveled lift in adequate water depth, theboat floats free of the bunks as it enters or leaves the lift.(See Fig. 22). When determining required water depth,take wavy conditions into consideration. There should beno chance of the boat hull lifting up on a wave and drop-ping down onto the bunks or cradle pads. Guidance onbunk placement is addressed in more detail on page 21.

To maintain optimum water level for proper lift operation,the minimum water depth is 29.5-inches. with the maxi-mum 69-inches.

WARNINGKeep all body parts and clothing away from cables andmoving parts. Do not attempt to stop the wheel if anuncontrollable spin-down should occur.

The operator should always watch the lift bed and stopbefore exceeding the stop limit and “Stop Here” decals.Failure to do so can result in serious bodily injury.

WARNING

WARNINGPrior to entering or exiting the lift with your boat, youmust first ensure that the lift’s bunk or cradle pad systemis lowered far enough so that no boat hull contact ismade with the supporting bunk system. Powering on oroff the bunk system can cause severe damage to the liftthat is not covered by your warranty. See Fig. 22.

INSTALLING AND LEVELING LIFTEASY LEVEL™ LEVELING LEGS (patented)The FLOE V-2000, V-2002, V-2600, V-3400, and V-4200lifts come standard with FLOE’s exclusive Easy-Level™Leveling Leg. With the Easy-LevelTM legs you can effort-lessly raise, level, or lower the lift frame without getting inthe water. Also, these legs allow for easy adjustment ifthe lift should settle or if the water level fluctuates meas-urably.

As you prepare to install and level the lift, keep in mindhow crucial it is to prevent a boat hull from rubbing or hit-ting the bunks or lifting beams and causing undue pres-sure on the lift frame. Read the warning below, and referback to Fig. 22, which diagrams a properly leveled lift inadequate water depth.

When positioning the lift it is important that it is placed inadequate water depth (Fig. 22 on page 14). The cradlemust be lowered far enough for the boat to easily float onand off without touching the lift bunks. If the boat hull rubson the bunks when entering or exiting the lift, the hori-zontal forces can cause severe damage to the lift and willvoid the warranty on affected components.

WARNING

WARNINGNever adjust leveling legs (up or down) with a boat on thelift. The added weight of the boat will apply extreme pres-sure to the adjustment system causing potential mechan-ical failure and/or serious bodily injury.

VERTICAL LIFT - CABLINGAs its name indicates, the vertical lift’s cradle beams raiseand lower vertically, or straight up and down, as opposedto the pivot or cantilever style lift which has a cradle thatpivots back from the main frame. The advantage of thevertical lift style is that the cradle lift beams drop lower,thus requiring less water depth to float the boat onto thelift and the cradle lift platform also raises your boat muchhigher for greater protection. The winch cable winds orunwinds onto the winch drum which raises or lowers thelift. One end of the front leveling cable attaches to thefront corner post leg, passes over a sheave inside thefront cradle beam, through the beam itself, and thenunder a sheave at the opposite end of the front cradle liftbeam. The cable is attached at its opposite end near thetop of the other front corner post. As the winch cable rais-es or lowers the lift, the pulleys allow the cradle platformto travel up and down along the leveling cables. The frontleveling cable, working with two corresponding cables inthe side cradle beams, keeps the cradle platform bothsquare as it travels up and down.

With the exception of the winch cables, all of FLOE’s ver-tical lift cables are made of aircraft-quality stainless steel.Because stainless steel cables are not flexible enough towind on a winch drum, FLOE uses the highest aircraft-quality galvanized cables available for the winches.

WARNINGDo not raise the cradle lift beam platform beyond the “StopHere” arrow decal on the corner post of the lift frame.Exceeding the maximum height can cause severe damageto the corner post and lift frame, winch, and cables, as wellas your boat and accessories. See Fig. 24.

PROPER HEIGHT “STOP HERE” DECALNever exceed the recommended height when raising thelift. A “Stop Here”arrow decal islocated on thewinch corner post(See Fig. 24). Itis especiallyimportant toremember thiswhen using aDC winchbecause, if there is a limit switch failure, the winch willcontinue to try to raise the boat. Going beyond the rec-ommended height can cause damage to the winch,cables, accessories, or lift frame.

When using a drill it will come to a sudden stop when theleg is fully extended or retracted. Do not use pneumaticpowered impact tools to adjust. When approaching end ofleg’s travel, reduce speed of drill. This will prevent youfrom twisting your wrist or accidentally dropping the drill.

When lowering the lift, the weight of the lift is working inyour favor. For this reason, it is particularly important tohave the drill in clutch mode, so that when the end oftravel for the leg is reached, the drill will slip instead ofcoming to an abrupt stop.

WARNING

CAUTIONBe sure people and objects are clear of the lift and the lev-eling leg during adjustment. As the lift is leveled, the entirelift frame will move, causing the potential creation of pinchpoints between the lift and dock system as well as thesand pad and lake bottom.

To raise or lower the lift frame, simply turn the nut insidethe leg as shown in Fig. 26. Turning clockwise will raisethe lift, counterclockwise will lower it. Use a 3/4” socketwith a 14 volt (or larger) cordless drill to adjust. Each of thefour legs adjusts independently so the lift can be perfectlyleveled. As the lift is raised or lowered, alternate among allfour legs after 1-1/2” to 2” of adjustment - similar to tighten-ing lug nuts on a wheel. If the drill is working too hard youare lifting too much on an individual leg and need to proceedto the other legs.

For leveling leg adjustment range, see boat lift specifica-tions, page 5. The decal pictured in Fig. 26 has a usefulmeasuring tape so that you can see the water level on eachcorner post. It is important that the water level reads thesame on all four corner posts. Once you determine whatleg extension measurement works best for your boat and lift,you can use a waterproof marker to draw a line at that pointon the tape of one corner post. (Fig. 27) This will be veryhelpful in following seasons either for you or for a hiredinstaller who may be unfamiliar with your boat, shorelineand lift.

WARNINGNever operate a boat lift that is not level. Under normalconditions a boat lift operates under extreme force.When the lift is not level, these forces are greatly mul-tiplied and bodily injury or damage to the lift can result.

To install the lift with the optional wheel kits in place:1. Raise the leveling legs so they are fully retracted with

a 14 volt (or larger) cordless drill or socket wrenchand 3/4” socket. (see Fig. 28). Before transportingthe lift, make sure the cradle lift beams are raised atleast two feet, as shown in Fig. 31. This will preventthe wheels from hitting the side cradle beams, whichwould keep the wheels from turning freely.

2. Once the weight of the lift is supported by thewheels, roll the lift into position by hand, or pull it witha boat using a cable harness.

3. Once the lift is in place, use a drill or socket wrench

BOAT LIFT INSTALLATION& REMOVAL OPTIONSIf the lift is in a climate where the lakes freeze during the win-ter months, it may need to be installed and removed on aseasonal basis. FLOE has several accessory optionsdesigned to make this easier. With the exception of the boatlift wheel kit system, these options will be mentioned onlybriefly. Detailed assembly and use instructions will be pack-aged with the lift accessories.

BOAT LIFT WHEEL KITSIf the lift is in a location where it can be rolled straight in andout, we recommend using two pair of optional wheel kits asshown in Fig. 31 below. Attach wheel kits to lift frameaccording to wheel kit assembly instructions included withyour boat lift wheel kit.

WARNINGThe wheels must not touch the lake bottom once the lifthas been installed. The weight of the boat and lift mustbe supported by the sand pads only.

CABLE & PULLEY SYSTEM Boat lift wheel kits can be combined with the optionalCable & Pulley System to enable you to harness thepower of a boat alone, or use in combination with anATV or winch, to install and remove your lift. This sys-tem consists of “Y” harness cable assemblies, which canbe added to each side of the lower lift frame

Never tie a rope, chain or cable to the center of a lift’sframe beam. This can bend or break the beam. Alwaysuse a “Y” cable set-up to more equitably distribute thepressure on the frame.

WARNING

The “Y” harness will distribute the weight on the frame ofthe lift, so that you can then attach a cable, chain, orrope of appropriate length from the harness to yourpower source and pull the lift without damaging it.

FLOAT & ROLLThe Float & Roll takes the concept behind the boat lift wheelkit system a step further. This system uses floats andwheels to provide easy installation and removal of the boatlift. It is especially useful if the lift must be floated into a slipor cannot be simply rolled into position.

INSTA-FLOAT This system is similar to the Float & Roll in its purposewhich is to make the lift installation and removal processeasier by floating the lift once it is in the water. The Insta-Float does not have its own wheels and is designed to beused in conjunction with two pairs of optional wheel kits.

A Float & Roll may be a better option if it is going to be usedfor multiple lifts, or if it needs to be independently mobile.

BUNK SELECTION & SET UPFLOE offers four different lift bunkstyles to accommodate a wide varietyof boat and pontoon hulls.Regardless of the style you select, itis important that you follow two impor-tant rules when installing the bunksystem. 1. If the lift is in shallowwater, make sure that the verticalsupport tubes are either set or cutshort enough that they do not hit thelake bottom and prevent the maincradle lift beams from lowering com-pletely. 2. Always adjust the height ofthe bunks so that the boat’s hull doesnot touch the main cradle lift beams.

FULL-LENGTH BUNKSFull length bunks are excellent forstabilizing and providing superiorsupport for most V-hull, Tri-hull, andtunnel-hull boats. Detailed instruc-tions for setting up and adjusting thebunks are included with the bunk sys-tem. Ideal bunk placements areshown below in Figs. 37 and 38. Fig.39 shows an acceptable, but lessdesirable bunk placement.

Never attempt to adjust the bunksystem (or any boat lift compo-nent) with the weight of the boaton it. Doing so could causedeath or serious bodily injurydue to a fast dropping boat.

FULL LENGTH BUNKS

If the lift is in shallow water and after final adjustment these tubes stick too far belowthe main lift beam, they may need to be cut off flush so that they do not hit the lakebottom and prevent the lift from lowering completely.

CRADLE PAD PIVOT BUNKSCradle pivot bunks are ideal for most lightweight V-hullwatercraft. They can be located in a V-position at both thefront and rear of your boat. Like the full-length bunks, thecradle pads will adjust both vertically and horizontally.(See Fig. 40 on the previous page.) The support tubeclamps adjust in the same way as the bunk clamps shownin Fig. 41 on the previous page. This extensive adjust-ment capability gives you the flexibility to fit the system toyour boat’s hull design.

The best set-up will ensure that as the boat is being raisedit does not lean to one side or the other and that once itis raised the boat will be held completely stable.

PROPER ADJUSTMENTIdeally the pads in the rear will be spread out towards theedges of the hull to better distribute the boat’s weight onthe rear cradle lift beam. The front pivot pads should bepositioned where they best support the hull and preventthe boat from leaning once the cradle lift platform beginsto raise it out of the water. Fig. 42 shows well-positionedcradle pad pivot bunks. Note that the support tubes donot extend below the main cradle lift beam. This preventsthem from hitting the lake bottom when the cradle lift plat-form is in its lowered position. Refer to the instructionsincluded in the cradle pad pivot bunks to install and adjustthem.

DETERMINING THE PROPER WIDTHThe proper width of the bunk system depends on the con-tour of the boat hull. As a rule of thumb, the bunks shouldbe spread as wide as possible. If the boat is on a trailer,measure the width that will provide optimal support andhull fit. The setup of the trailer bunks may provide a help-ful guide. See Figs. 37-38.

DETERMINING HEIGHTFOR PONTOON BUNK/GUIDE-IN SYSTEMAs a general rule, when entering or exiting the lift, the topof the bunk/guide-in system should be approximately 51/2” out of the water and there should be 1/2” of clearancebetween the side of the float and the guide edge of thebunk system. See Fig. 43. When raised, the bunks shouldcarry the weight of the boat by supporting the pontoonboat frame and the pontoons should clear the main cradlelift beams by at least one inch. (Fig. 44). Refer to page24 for a discussion of how to position the craft front-to-back on the lift . The assembly instructions packaged withthe kit provide more detailed information on installationand adjustment.

GUIDE-IN SYSTEM SELECTIONPRECISION PARKTM CARPETEDGUIDE-INS WITH BUMPERSVertical entry bumpers mounted to each side allow theboat’s rub rail to make initial contact. The carpetedguides provide a continuous guide surface while two addi-tional vertical bumpers make final contact with the boat’srub rail for perfect alignment. It is important to adjust theheight of the carpeted guide-in system so that the mid-points of the upright bumpers are on a level with the rubrail of the boat. Improper weight distribution on the main liftbeams can cause the majority of the boat’s weightto be lifted by the rear beam. This could cause anoverload situation which could result in lift failureand potential bodily injury. If you do not knowwhere your boat’s balance point is, consult yourdealer. When determining balance point, the Boat

Lift Selector Program on FLOE’s website,www.floeintl.com, is a good starting point.

BOAT PLACEMENT& MOTOR STOPIn order to properly distribute theweight of the boat on the lift, it is impor-tant that the boat is parked in the correctlocation. How to Position a Pontoon BoatIf you have a longer craft such as a pon-toon boat that proportionally does nothave a lot of weight in the back, it can beparked, depending upon its length, withmore overhang (up to 2 - 7 ft.) in the backand still achieve proper weight distribu-tion. See Fig. 52. For instance, the backof a 21’ pontoon boat should overhang 3’past the back end of the lift. For everyadditional foot of length the stern canoverhang 6” more beyond the rear of thelift. These are only general guidelines.Consult the Boat Lift Selector Program

and your dealer for more information.

SELECTING YOUR GUIDESTechnically, two pairs of single guideswould be best help safely guide theboat into the lift. However, FLOE rec-ommends at least one pair of doubleguides for the lift’s entry because thisstyle has two vertical guides mountedahead of the lift structure. The boat’sinitial impact with these outset guideswill slow it and start to guide the craft byits rub rail before it even enters the lift.

Adjust guides so that they areagainst your rub rail.

Always enter the lift slowly to avoidany severe impact. Severe impactcould cause damage to the guide sys-tem, lift or boat.

PROPER CANOPY FRAMEPOSITIONINGThe FLOE canopy system is adjustable verti-cally and horizontally. Detailed instructions onhow to make these adjustments are includedwith the canopy system. Once the boat’sproper position is known follow the simplesteps below to ensure proper canopy place-ment as shown in Figs. 51, 52, & 53.

1. With the boat in place determine how farthe canopy needs to extend beyond therear of the lift, remove the boat and posi-tion the frame accordingly. (Normally thisdistance will be between 3.5 - 5 ft. for stan-dard boats and 4 - 8 ft. for longer pon-toons.) Do not tighten at this point. It isrecommended to allow at least 6” of extracoverage in both the front and rear of theboat and outdrive. When adjusting the hor-izontal position of a canopy frame, theframe will extend further off the front of thelift than off the rear. This depends on the

needed to cover the rear of the boat. If this front overhang is more than11’ or if the canopy is 26’ or larger, a canopy frame support systemis needed as shown in Fig. 54. This will reduce flex and bowing inthe canopy frame and gives you an additional 2-ft. of overhang.

2. Raise the boat to its maximum height and determine how high thecanopy framework needs to be in order to clear the tallest point ofthe boat.

3. Remove the boat before making adjustment. Set the canopy frameheight by adjusting the four vertical tubes and tightening each setbolt to 60 ft. lbs. See Fig. 54.

4. Tighten the horizontal adjustment bolts to 60 ft. lbs.

When adjusting the main rail bolts be especially carefulwhen using a cordless drill. The drill has so much powerthat it would be easy to overextend the rails which couldcause the canopy fabric to overstretch or tear.

WARNING

1. Place fabric over the frame system and adjustwhere necessary for a uniform fit.

2. Attach canopy ends to frame by wrapping theVelcro around the bottom of the end hoops asshown in Fig. 57.

3. Use a 9/16” socket witheither a socket wrench ora cordless d r i l l ,spin the main rail adjust-ment bolts counterclock-wise to extend each sideuntil the fabric is snug. Do not over extend as toomuch pressure on the fabric can tear the seamsor bend end hoops.

4. Push the top center of the end-hoop outward untilthe fabric is snug and tighten the center rail adjust-ment knob.

5. Attach all elastic belts by placing the Quick Clip™

onto frame rail as shown in Figs. 58 & 59.

CANOPY FABRIC INSTALLATION

Do not attempt to install or remove canopy fabrics inwindy conditions. Strong winds or wind gusts can makefabric handling extremely difficult and can cause apotentially dangerous situation.

WARNING

Do not adjust canopy frame with the boat on lift. If liftfailure were to occur there is potential for serious bodi-ly injury or even death. Damage may also result fromthe loosened framework making contact with the boat.

WARNING

Do not adjust canopy frame with fabric attached. Whenthe bolts are loose or removed a sudden wind couldcause the entire frame structure to blow off the lift anddamage it.

WARNING

END FRAME ADJUSTMENTAll canopy frames are equipped with the adjustable endframe feature. This feature makes installation and re-moval easier and pulls the canopy fabric tight for a greatlooking fit.

To adjust prior to installing or removing fabric:1. Loosen center rail adjustment knob by turning it

counterclockwise (See Fig. 55). This will allow thecenter rail to retract.

2. Using a 9/16” socket with either a wrench or a cord-less drill, spin the main rail adjustment bolts clock-wise to retract each side (See Fig. 56).

3. Follow canopy fabric installation instructions.

WARNINGIn winter climates where the potential for snow accu-mulation exists the fabric must be removed or theweight of the snow may cause damage to the canopyframe and/or canopy fabric. Canopy fabric should bestored clean and dry. This will help prevent the growthof mildew and fungus.

(3) Pull up and attach to frame

(2) Pull towards you.

CANOPY WIND PRECAUTIONIf the lift has a canopy it is possible for strong windsto move the lift system or blow it over. This is especiallytrue if the lift does not have a boat on it. Even with aboat’s weight extreme winds can possibly move a boatlift causing potential damage. The possibility of winddamage to the lift or canopy may be reduced by anchor-ing the lift to the lake bottom with a screw-auger Fig. 60anchor system. Mesh end canopies are available for highwind areas.

Screw-auger anchors are commonly used to securemobile homes and can be purchased at most hard-ware stores. They can also be purchased from a FLOEboat lift dealer.

CANOPY FABRIC REMOVAL1. Detach all elastic belts and Velcro end straps.

2. Loosen the center rail adjustment knob so the end-hoop can retract.

3. Using a 9/16” socket with either a socket wrench ora cordless drill spin the main rail adjustment boltsclockwise to fully retract each side.

4. Remove fabric from frame.

Before attaching the quick clips tothe frame check each one toensure that the elastic strap hasbeen woven through the clip prop-erly (see Fig. 58) and that a “tail” ofat least one inch of strap materialextends beyond the end of the clip.

When attaching the quick clipsalternate from one side of the frame to the other. Follow the threesimple steps shown in Fig. 59. Once installed, thestraps should be fairly taut with an approximate tensionof 20 lbs.

CANOPY FABRIC CARE ANDCLEANINGThe canopy fabric is either a vinyl laminated polyester or a100% solution dyed polyester (SDP) all-weather fabric.

SOLUTION DYED POLYESTER (SDP)SDP is a woven fabric and will not support the growth ofmildew. Mold and mildew needs “food” to grow on andpolyester isn’t a desirable substance for mold. Dirt or duston the fabric is a perfect “food” for mildew growth, whichmakes regular cleaning important. There is no set time forwhen a fabric should be cleaned. The local environmenthas a great deal to do with determining cleaning frequen-cy. Cleaning is required less frequently in a dry environ-ment than in a humid one with heavy foliage cover. SDPhas a finish applied to the fabric to deter mold and mildewgrowth but it does not make it mold-proof. Keeping the fab-ric free of dirt is important to deter mold growth.

Cleaning: One of the best ways to keep SDP looking goodand to delay the need for deep cleanings is to hose the fab-ric off on a monthly basis with clean water. This practice willhelp prevent dirt from becoming deeply embedded in thefabric. In most environments, a thorough cleaning will beneeded every two to three years.

To thoroughly clean SDP fabric follow these simple steps:1. Brush off loose dirt.2. Hose down. 3. Prepare a cleaning mixture of water and mild nat-

ural soap (no detergents).4. Use a soft bristle brush to clean.5. Allow soap to soak in.6. Rinse thoroughly.7. Air dry completely before storage.

-or-Size permitting, SDP fabric can be cleaned in a largecommercial washing machine with mild natural soapand water.

Re-treating the Fabric: SDP fabrics are treated with a flu-orocarbon finish which enhances water repellency. This fin-ish is designed to last for years but must be replenishedafter a thorough cleaning. The fabric manufacturer recom-mends 303 High Tech Fabric Guard™ as the preferred re-treatment product. Fabric should be re-treated after a thor-ough cleaning or after five years of use. 303 High TechFabric Guard™ can be purchased at most marine supplystores or online at 303-products.com.

If a canopy fabric has any build-up of dust or dirt in thepores and it is in a moist environment where it cannot dryout regularly, it may cause mildew to grow on the fabric.Although this mildew can be removed, it can be very diffi-cult or even impossible to remove the stain on the fabric leftby the mildew. With darker colored fabrics, even if such astain occurred it is much less visible to see.

CANOPY FOLDING INSTRUCTIONS1. Lay canopy on a clean, flat surface with the top fac-

ing up.2. Fold the sides of the canopy on the seam. Fold one

end of the canopy to the seam. See Fig. 61.3. Start at the end that is folded, measure in 16”, fold

the canopy toward opposite end and continue fold-ing until you reach the other side. The canopyshould now be approximately 20” wide and resem-ble Fig. 62.

INSPECTIONS & MAINTENANCE• Check all structural fasteners annually to ensure that

they are tight.• Check all seven pulleys (sheaves) annually to make sure

they are turning free and true. Ensure that the cables arerunning properly in the grooves or channels of the pul-leys. Check the bushings for any signs of wear. If thereis too much vertical play at the top and bottom of a pul-ley on its axis (more than an 1/8”) replace the bushingand if necessary the sheave itself. See Figs. 67 & 68.

• Visually inspect lift frame annually for cracks or damage.Replace any cracked or damaged parts before using lift.

• If the lift receives wind damage or is moved or blownover by the wind a full inspection (preferably by a trainedFLOE dealer or other knowledgeable professional) mustbe completed before the lift is used.

• Grease lift as outlined in this manual. See Fig. 70

Lift Light Kit

OPTIONAL LED FLOODLIGHTAn optional LED lighting system is available for the lift. The lighting package is mountedon the wireless receiver post and plugs into the receiver. The receiver plugs into the “RadioRemote” socket on the lift’s Advanced Control System. Installation instructions are includ-ed with the light kit. The 120 LED floodlight is about equivalent to a 75 watt incondesent.There are 2 bulbs per kit.

TROUBLE SHOOTING OPTIONAL LIGHT SYSTEM Step 1: Make sure the lighting wire is not bare or creating a short by making contact with the lift frame. Step 2: Check to see if the light bulb(s) is ok.Step 3: If you have an optional wireless remote, check to see if it is working by trying to raise and lower

the lift. If it is not working, contact your dealer for assistance.

Loose fasteners can cause instability in the lift frameresulting in premature wear to the lift structure and cre-ate a structurally unsafe boat lift. Damage due to loosefasteners or improper assembly and/or maintenancewill void warranty .

Do not use a boat lift with cables that show any abnor-malities. If a cable breaks under pressure, the boat willdrop suddenly causing potential damage to the boat,the boat lift, and can cause serious injury or death.

• Inspect all cables at least annually. Any frayed, deterio-rating or visibly stressed cables must be replacedbefore the lift is used.

It can still be checked from the open end of thebeam by using a long pry bar or flat screwdriver and push-ing against the side of the top and bottom of the pulley totest for excessive side-to-side play (see Fig. 68).

Always remove the boat and lower the lift bed com-pletely before attempting any maintenance or repairs.

WARNING

GREASING THE DC WINCHAlthough the DC winch does not need to be covered for sea-sonal storage you should grease the gears at least once ayear. Access the gears from the opening on the top of thewinch housing. Apply a high quality lithium grease to thetopmost gear and then run the winch enough so that thegrease is distributed to the other gears. (See Fig. 71)

Pulleys with worn bushings can cause damage to thebeam where they are located and cause excessive fric-tion while the lift is being operated. This can alsoseverely damage other components such as the drivetrain and cables.

GREASING THE EASY-LEVELLEVELINGTM LEGThe Easy-LevelTM leveling leg must be greased at least once annually. This should be done priorto winter storage if the lift is removed seasonally. To grease, lower lift until the pad is fully retract-ed and the access holes line up, with the threaded rod clearly visible inside the hole. Apply a gen-erous amount of quality lithium grease to the threaded rod as shown in Fig. 72. Remember togrease all four legs and extend them to distribute the grease, see Fig. 73.
