OCTC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Carden-Alvey Scholarship Est. in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Carmine Carden and Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Alvey GUIDELINES: Available to non-traditional students enrolled in an Associate Degree transfer program; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; May be used for tuition, fees or books. David Nuckols Memorial Scholarship MONETARY AWARD: up to full tuition, five (5) credit hour minimum GUIDELINES: Available to students enrolled in a certificate, diploma or degree program in Welding; Minimum 3.0 GPA and 90% attendance after at least one semester completed; May be used for tuition, fees or books. Dr. Bruce Beck Memorial Scholarship GUIDELINES: Must be an Ohio County resident; Enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) in an Associate Degree program; Minimum 3.5 cumula-tive GPA required. Ernest A Weill, III Memorial Scholarship Established, in memoriam, by the Weill family and friends GUIDELINES: Must be a KY resident with first priority to Daviess County residents; Majoring in Engineering and/or Architecture; Minimum 2.5 cumu-lative GPA; May be used for tuition, fees or books. Ken-tron Scholarship GUIDELINES: Available to students enrolled in a Machine Tool degree; Minimum 2.5 GPA; May be used for tuition, fees or books. Lorene Kimes-Smith Memorial Scholarship GUIDELINES: Available to full-time students enrolled in an Associate De-gree program; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required. Morton J. Holbrook, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Established, in memoriam, by the Holbrook family & friends GUIDELINES: Must be enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma or Associate De-gree program; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required. OCTC Community Healthcare Scholarship Established by Ms. Jean Wells GUIDELINES: Available to students enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma or Associate Degree program in Certified Nurse Aide, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with a preference for students who plan to work with the aging population; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required; Enrolled in six (6) credit hours or more. OCTC Foundation Scholarship—NEW STUDENT GUIDELINES: New OCTC students enrolling within three (3) years of high school completion; Must file FAFSA; Minimum 3.0 GPA; ACT of 19 or COM-PASS equivalent; Must reapply each academic year. OCTC Foundation Scholarship-RETURNING STUDENT GUIDELINES: Returning OCTC students; Must file FAFSA; Minimum 2.5 GPA first semester, 3.0 GPA thereafter; Must reapply each academic year. Ohio County Scholarship Established by the Bank of Ohio County GUIDELINES: Must be an Ohio County resident; Enrolled full or part-time (6 or more hours) in a Diploma, Certificate or Associate Degree program; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required. OMHS Workforce Scholarship GUIDELINES: Available to students enrolled full or part-time (6 or more hours) in a Certificate, Diploma or Associate Degree program; preference given to students majoring in healthcare fields; Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required; May be used for tuition, fees or books. Ray and Alice Addington Family Scholarship Established by Dr. Jacqueline Addington GUIDELINES: Must be enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma or Associate De-gree program; Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required. Vance Wilson Memorial Scholarship GUIDELINES: Students must file FAFSA; ACT of 19 or COMPASS equiva-lent; Minimum 3.0 GPA.

OCTC ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS Lester E. Yeager Scholarship GUIDELINES: Applicants must be from Daviess County and/or surrounding areas. M. H. Ford Scholarship MONETARY AWARD: full tuition for 2 years GUIDELINES: Priority to Fine Arts student

Ray Gillaspie Scholarship—High School Senior MONETARY AWARD: up to $1,500 per year* GUIDELINES: Must have 2.0 high school GPA; Provide four (4) letters of reference (non-relative, two must be from instructors, two from non-school personnel); Biographical Statement; Ohio County resident; Complete Ad-missions file; Must be degree-seeking in a technical degree. (Separate Appli-cation Required) Ray Gillaspie Scholarship—Adult Students MONETARY AWARD: up to $1,500 per year* GUIDELINES: Must have 2.0 GPA; provide four (4) letters of reference (non-relative, two must be from instructors, two from non-school personnel); Biographical Statement; Ohio County resident; Complete Admissions file; Must be degree-seeking in a technical degree. (Separate Application Re-quired)

KCTCS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Kentucky Colonels Better Life Scholarship MONETARY AWARD: $2,500 per year GUIDELINES: Must be full-time student pursuing a KCTCS Associate de-gree; Kentucky resident; Single working parent with one or more children under the age of 12; Must demonstrate financial need. (Separate Application Required)

SYSTEMS OFFICE SCHOLARSHIPS Commonwealth Scholarship GUIDELINES: Kentucky resident; Students in top 25% of high school class (including past graduates); Enrolled in six (6) credit hours or more. Scholar-ship is renewable for second year by completing a scholarship application and having successfully completed 24 credit hours at a KCTCS institution and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA. John T. Smith Scholarship GUIDELINES: Must be enrolled in six (6) or more credit hours; African-American; Kentucky resident; Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.

President’s Scholarship GUIDELINES: Must file a FAFSA; Minimum 3.0 GPA required; ACT of 19 or COMPASS equivalent. Returning students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS E. B. Burgess Scholarship GUIDELINES: Must be a member of the Green River Federal Credit Union and/or immediate family member. N.O. Kimbler Scholarship MONETARY AWARD: up to $1,200 per year GUIDELINES: Student must be an Education major Owensboro Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges Scholarship (AAWCC) GUIDELINES: Must be a female with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA for a continuing student or a minimum ACT composite score of 19 or minimum COMPASS Reading score of 84 and minimum COMPASS English score of 65 for a high school student is required. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate financial need.

* The OCTC Scholarship Committee reserves the right to rescind or adjust awards based on available financial resources. Renewal of awards are based upon cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).

considered for certain scholarships.

The deadline to submit the 2009-2010 Scholarship Application is April 1, 2009. (Applications received after April 1,

2009 will be considered if funds are available.) Applicants must complete the following steps:

1. Complete the application process to OCTC—Admissions Application, High School Transcript or GED scores and/or College Transcript(s) and COMPASS Testing, if required.

2. File the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you need assistance, please contact the Financial Aid Office to schedule an appointment at 686-4520.

3. Submit one letter of recommendation from someone who is not related to you. (Only one letter of

recommendation is required unless specifically stated in the scholarship description.)

4. New students/recent high school graduates must attach a copy of their High School Transcript.
