Abstract

Petronas Carigali is currently finding a way to increase its income by increasing its production due to loss in

profit. One of the way to increase its production is by reactivating idle wells. However, not all idle wells are

economic to reactivate. Therefore, several analysis was done to determine which well is suitable to be

reactivated. The idle well that I found was in Dulang X named XXX well. It needs additional perforation to

continue as a producing oil well. Several assessment was done:

- To prove the reservoir potential is conducive for additional perforation

- To determine exactly the location of perforation

- To prove that by reactivating the well will promise huge profit

Brief Description of the Project

XXX Well history will be studied together with the interpretation of openhole log to

show that there is a profitable reservoir in the well. Then, based on the production

performance of offset well, reservoir capability after reperforation will be assessed and

its future production rate will be predicted beside its recoverable reserves using

Decline Curve Analysis. Then perforation strategy and design is devised. Lastly, from

rate of production, revenue will be calculated together with cost to know its Net

Present Value of this project. Based on the NPV, it will show that this project will

promise huge income.
