In FY 2017, 86% of JICA’s overall budget is allocated to Finance and Investment operations.

JICA provides ODA Loans with concessional conditions (similar to development finance provided by Multilateral Development Banks, etc.) for developing countries to finance investment for development.

By sharing Japan’s technologies and expertise, technical cooperation aims to foster the human resources who will lead economic and social development in developing countries.

Assistance in the form of grants with no repayment obligations to provide the goods and services necessary for economic and social development in developing countries.

Singapore: 1983-1990Productivity Development Project • Request from PM Lee Kuan Yew• Supported CD of National Productivity Board• Almost 100 companies implemented

KAIZEN, and around 15,000 corporate managers received trainings through the project

• The project supported and encouraged productivity movement in Singapore which lead to its economical success

Thailand: 1994-2001Quality and Productivity Improvement Project• Supported CD of Thailand Productivity

Institute (FTPI)• Trained 38 consultants and provided KAIZEN

service to 96 companies within the project • During 2001-2002 (after the project) FTPI

trained 167 companies, 2,877 persons, gave consultancy service to 827 companies

• The project laid down the essential basic management system in Thai SMEs

• JICA has been implementing Technical Cooperation Projects in 8 countries. The projects are still on-going in 7 countries (The project was completed in Egypt).

• Every year, more than 60 officials from Africa participate in KAIZEN related trainings conducted in Japan and Malaysia.

• From 2009, JICA received officials from 25 countries for KAIZEN trainings.
