SPPS stands for Service Package Pricing System and is a program for calculating and communicating fixed price offers(service packages). The service packages consist both of parts as well as of jobs and thus make it possible to obtain quick, reliable price information for maintenance jobs and wear repairs. After an individual calculation, all service packages can be transferred to the commercial system (DMS) via the file interfaceand accessed there directly. The service packages in SPPS are made up of the following items of information:

Information System

Package content WIS (e.g.: maintenance sheets)

Labour values ASRA

Information about parts EPC

Parts prices IPS, SPICS, Autoline

Packages for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars & smart:SPPS contains packages of maintenance and repair jobs for all models from model series W201 up to today (except G-modelsas well as smart Roadster and BRABUS types).Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles:SPPS contains packages of maintenance and repair jobs for all Vaneo, V-Class, Vito/Viano and Sprinter models as well aspackages for Actros, Axor and Atego models.

SPPS offers a series of opportunities in the MPC (market performance centre) and retail. The packages for maintenance work and wear repairs are provided to the MPC by Headquarters. TheMPC Package Managers can amend, change or reject these packages on a market-specific basis.Packages in SPPS can be forwarded to all recorded dealers. Participating dealers are entered inSPPS.With the Service Package Pricing System (SPPS), the dealer (Dealer Package Manager or DPM)manages all existing fixed price packages for market cultivation. Service packages are transferreddirectly into the commercial system (DMS) via the file interface.SPPS also supports the service advisors when meeting with customers. SPPS facilitates quick, reliable price information.

The following process chain can be sketched for SPPS.

The Mercedes-Benz Headquarters (HQ) is in charge of system supervision and package creation. Softwarechanges and updated package data are regularly incorporated into SPPS during updates. New and changed packages must first of all be transferred into the SPPS system of the market in question by marketsupport (MPC) . Package data may have to be localised in this case. The packages can then be processed. Up-to-date parts price lists are created by the MPC and also incorporated into the SPPS system. The MPC can create campaigns with the existing packages or, if necessary, create new local packages that are valid forthe entire market. The packages or the dealers who have been entered in SPPS are then released for the entire market. Dealers must also first of all transfer new and changed packages that have been released by the MPC to theirSPPS system. Accepted packages can be changed on a dealer-specific basis if necessary. Finally, packages are calculated and exported to the DMS (dealer management system) .

In SPPS, market support's (MPC) main task is to adapt packages delivered by Headquarters to the needs of the market inquestion and to manage them.

Example:Flat-rate taxation in the form of an environmental levy is generally due for a market. The MPC's task here is to calculate theenvironmental levy for all packages published on the market. A retrospective calculation for each individual dealer is thereforenot necessary.

Overview of MPC's tasks:Task Description

Management of market-specific parameters Management of the market-specific parameters involves adaptingthem to the tax rates in force and other calculation parametersthat are valid for the entire market.

Creation and management of packages Package data and parts price lists provided by Mercedes-BenzHeadquarters must be incorporated into SPPS by MPC andmanaged. This includes accepting packages that have to beimported into the market and rejecting packages that are notrelevant for the market in question. In addition, new packagesand campaigns that are valid for the entire market can becreated.

Localisation of packages/prices Since Mercedes-Benz Headquarters delivers package data inGerman and English and the parts price data in euros, both thepackage data as well as the parts price lists may have to belocalised for each update. SPPS's own import and exportfunctions support the user here.

Creation of parts price lists Up-to-date price lists are created by each MPC and imported intothe SPPS system in question.

Calculation of packages Once the packages have been processed, the affected packagesare re-calculated in accordance with market-specific parameters.

Publication of packages Calculated packages must be published in order to be availableto the market and the individual dealers. Packages are not shownto the dealers until they have been successfully published.

Creation and management of dealers Packages are only made available to dealers who have beenentered as dealers in the MPC's SPPS system. The MPCmanages a market's main and branch offices.

SPPS Online Tutorial — Processes

2.2 Important tasks of the MPC

SPPS Online Tutorial — Processes

In SPPS, the dealer package manager's (DPM) main task is to adapt packages delivered by market support (MPC) to theneeds of the dealer in question and to manage them.

Example:Due to the competitive situation, a dealer wants to offer some packages for a specific time span on more favourable conditionsthan how the MPC published them. The packages in question are adapted by the DPM for all assigned branch offices, regardless of the MPC specification at dealer level.

Overview of DPM's tasks:Task Description

Management of dealer-specific parameters Management of the dealer-specific parameters includes adaptingthem to the labour rates in force and other calculation parametersthat are valid for the dealer.

Creation and management of packages Packages published by the MPC must be managed by the dealer. This includes accepting packages and rejecting packages thatare not relevant for the dealer. In addition, new packages andcampaigns that are valid only for the dealer can be created.

Calculation of packages Once the packages have been processed, the affected packagesare re-calculated in accordance with dealer-specific parameters.

Publication of packages Calculated packages must be published in order to be availableto the branch manager and/or service advisor roles. They are notdisplayed in XENTRY Portal, for example, until they have beensuccessfully published, and can be used for creating offers there.

DMS export The DMS export of published packages is performed by the DPM.

To be able to offer up-to-date content at all times, there are different updates for SPPS. The following overview shows the different updates and their functions:

Type of update Description

System System updates are published once or twice a year and contain updates of the SPPS user interface, such as new functions.

Package data Package updates are published every three months and contain the complete package master. Afterevery successful update, new packages must be accepted by the MPC, localised if necessary, processed and published.Every market is informed of a new package update in advance.

Parts price lists Parts price lists contain price information about packages. Where necessary, they are created by theMPC and incorporated into SPPS.

Updating a parts price file triggers a re-calculation of all packages for all assigned dealers.

The package selection is the central entry point into all the Package management functions. After therequired functions have been selected, all packages contained in this process step are displayed inthe package selection.

Example:After the "Accept the packages" function has been selected, all packages available for SPPSthat are new and have not yet been transferred for processing are displayed in the packageselection.

The displayed packages can be filtered according to specific criteria via the package selection options

so that only the relevant packages are displayed in the package list . Examples of filter criteriaare part number, vehicle identification number or operation number. When there is a change offunction, the selected options are retained and show the relevant packages of this function.

Which options are available in the package selection, how these can be used and what thedifferent status icons mean is described in detail in the Help section of the SPPS userdocumentation.

In the display, one or more packages can be selected and transferred to the function and informationarea via a double-click (for single packages) or the action button "OK" (for multiple packages).Icons in the "Status" column show the package's current status and must be complied with duringfurther processing.

Specific packages are brought together in groups.

Example:As part of a springtime promotion, a specific discount is to be granted for all passenger cars forchanging the tyres. To this end, packages related to the tyre change are brought together in onegroup across all passenger car model series. This means that all relevant packages do not haveto be re-calculated individually. Instead, a special calculation can be performed directly for allpackages contained in the group.

Packages can be transferred to the function and information area via group selection as well as viapackage selection. All packages that have been assigned to the selected group are accepted viagroup selection. As in package selection, this transfer is performed via a double-click or the actionbutton "OK" .A multiple selection is not possible in group selection.

New groups are created and the displayed groups managed in the "Group management"function.

Groups with a yellow group icon have been created by the MPC; groups with a blue groupicon by the dealer. If a calculation icon ( or ) has been added to the icon, this meansthere is a calculation regulation for this group.

Packages with status are completely defined packages. They contain all necessary parts information and can beaccepted directly after the package has been received. If no follow-up processing is necessary, these packages canalso be released directly for the dealer or service advisor.

Exercise: A search is to be performed for completely defined packages with a specific operation number .

These packages must first of all be accepted and then released.

The following steps are necessary:

1. Open the "Accept the packages" function.2. Search for completely defined packages with a particular operation number.3. Select and accept the packages.4. Open the "Release packages" function.5. Search for the accepted packages.6. Select and release the packages.

To be able to offer up-to-date content at all times, there are different updates for SPPS. The following overview shows the different updates and their descriptions:

Type of update Description

System System updates contain updates of the SPPS user interface, such as new functions.

Every market is informed of a new system update in advance.

Package data Package updates contain the complete package master. After every update, new packages must be accepted by the MPC and (where necessary) package textslocalised. The affected packages are then edited and published. After every update, dealers must transfer packages published by the MPC to their system and edit themwhere necessary.

Every market is informed of a new package update in advance.

Parts price lists Parts price lists contain the relevant price information for every package.

Updating a parts price file triggers a re-calculation of all packages for all assigned dealers.

The package data is created by Mercedes-Benz Headquarters (HQ) and incorporated into SPPS.

Before package data is incorporated in a market, the MPC in question is informed of theimminent package update.

New package data is initially only visible for the MPC in incoming packages. Dealers do not seenew packages until they have been published by the MPC.

Package data contains the complete scope of all packages for SPPS, including the relevant items ofinformation such as labour values and parts information. Those packages that are deleted from thepackage scope are included as delete records. The associated package texts are made available to the MPCs separately. These must be importedafter the packages have been transferred.

Package texts are delivered in German and English only. If the package texts are required in adifferent language, they must be localised after the package data has been transferred toSPPS.

When package data has been successfully incorporated into SPPS, the packages must be accepted in SPPS so that they canbe further processed there. The packages are transferred in the "Accept package" function or "Accept changed packages"function in the "Package management" view.

Tip:It is recommended to first of all reject all non-required packages and then accept all completelydefined packages. Only then are all packages in the status "Not completely defined" processed. For a better overview of the undefined parts, a suitable overview can be created via the "Reports"function.

A distinction can be made between the following use cases:

Use case Procedure

A completely defined package that has not been changedyet is transferred.

The package data is transferred using the "Accept package"function.

A completely defined package that has already beenchanged is transferred.

The package data is transferred using the "Accept changedpackages" function.

If there are packages in this function, this is signalled by theexclamation mark.

An incompletely defined package that has not beenchanged yet is transferred.

The package data is transferred using the "Accept package"function.

The package must first of all be completely defined. To this end,the undefined parts in the "Undefined parts" tab must bespecified in Parts management in the "Workplace" view.

The package switches to the "Completely defined" status . For the next steps, see above.

After package data and texts have been successfully incorporated into SPPS, the packages can befurther processed in SPPS.

If a language other than German or English is required for the package texts in a market, thepackages must be localised before being processed.

Localisation (MPC)

Since package data is only delivered in German and English, package texts may have to belocalised after the update.

The parts contained in the package data do not contain any information about the prices or discountgroups. The parts price file constitutes a connection between the part number of the package dataand the information saved in the parts price band (e.g. SPICS).The following data is contained in a parts price file:

Information Description

Part number The part number as saved in the package data.

ES1 Addition to the part number

ES2 Addition to the part number

Description Name of the part

Unit price Price information about the part number

Quantity Number of parts to be added to the package

Return value Part's return value

Discount group Part number's discount group

Processingthe parts price file can be controlled via import options. When the parts price file is updated, only the affected part numbers are overwritten. Price information about a partnumber not contained in the parts price file is not processed, it is deleted. Updating the parts price file therefore doesnot affect own parts.

Updating and archiving a parts price file triggers a re-calculation of all packages for all assigneddealers.

Exercise: The parts price file is to be imported.

The package data is imported via the "Import parts" tab in Parts management in the "Workplace" view.

The following steps are necessary:

Updates ensure that the user can always access an up-to-date set of data. This is particularlyimportant for package content and price information in SPPS.However, the user must also know to what extent own changes to updates are affected and whetherown data can be overwritten by an update. For this reason, the effects of updates on own changes ispresented below.

When package and parts price data is updated, the user must check packages that the user haschanged, as changes to the package content may make own changes superfluous.

Ownchange Effect of an update

Changedpackage

A package update always has an effect on the content of changed packages. After anupdate, a changed package must therefore be checked by the user.Changed packages that are affected by an update are displayed in the "Acceptchanged packages" function in Package management.

If there are packages in this function, this is signalled by the exclamation mark.

Newpackage

New or own packages are not subject to the update process and must be updated bythe user him-/herself.

Only specific package numbers are allowed to be allocated for new packages. This ensures that packages created by the user are not overwritten by apackage update.

Calculation A re-calculation arising from a package update is automatically performed if thepackage data is updated after an update.Fixed price packages that are affected by a change to master data (e.g. parts price)are displayed in the "Calculation of changed packages" function in Packagemanagement. In this case, the user must check the calculation of a changedpackage.

If there are packages in this function, this is signalled by the exclamation mark. If the parts price list is updated, a re-calculation of all packages takes place. Theuser is informed of this accordingly.

Packagetexts

If changes to package texts have been made in the delivery languages German orEnglish, these are only overwritten by an update if the option "Released packagesmust also be taken into account" has been selected.

Own parts Own parts are not subject to the update process and must be updated by the userhim-/herself.

In the "Own parts" tab in Parts management in the "Workplace" view, it ispossible to specify whether the part number is to be updated when the parts

In SPPS, there are several import and export functions that can be used for different areas. The following overview showswhich import and export functions are available for which user role.

Function User role Description

Import package data MPC, DPM Package data is imported into SPPS.

Export package data MPC, DPM Package data is exported out of SPPS, e.g. for the DMS.

Import package texts MPC Package texts are imported into SPPS after a package update.

Export package texts MPC Package texts are exported out of SPPS, e.g. for translation.

Import parts price lists MPC Parts price lists are imported into SPPS during updates.

Export reports MPC, DPM Reports are exported out of SPPS, e.g. "Undefined parts", "Discount groups","Parts list".

Export shopping cart DPM The content of the shopping cart is exported out of SPPS, e.g. for the DMS.

The export of the shopping cart to the DMS is one of the most frequent reasons for using exportfunctions during everyday usage of SPPS.Creating reports, e.g. "Undefined parts", can be helpful for performing tasks after a package update. The import and export functions are used for package texts and parts price lists here as well. The package data export function is used to transfer package data to the DMS. This must be doneafter changes in SPPS. The package data import function is only used if a data comparison is to beconducted between two SPPS installations.

In general, the most frequent problems occur during imports because the data used is notcompatible with SPPS. It is therefore important to ensure that the correct data structure is used forthe import. If you have any questions, please contact SPPS Support. The import and export of package data and the import of parts price lists does not take placeimmediately but is performed by SPPS as a job in the background. To ensure the systemperformance and data security, jobs are performed sequentially and at times when less use is beingmade of SPPS. The user is informed by e-mail when the job has been completed. It may thereforetake a while before a commissioned import or export has been conducted.

Package data is imported into SPPS when the set of data of one SPPS installation is to be transferred to an additionalSPPS installation.

Example:A dealer has several SPPS installations at DPM level. However, packages accepted by a DPM are onlyprovided to the assigned users (e.g. service advisors). To avoid additional effort, the package master ofan SPPS installation can be transferred to the SPPS installation of another DPM.

Exercise: To import the package data.

The package data is imported via the "Package import" tab in Package management in the "Workplace" view.

The following steps are necessary:

1. Select the environment.2. Select the mode.3. Select the file.4. Start the import.

To transfer data from SPPS to a DMS, for example, the package data export function is used. The data that is provided for the export can be narrowed down by means of a wide range of options such as theconstruction group or model series.

Every DMS requires a specific data format for the import. The export options vary depending on whichformat type is selected.Making the export file available can take some time. After a successful export, the user is sent an e-mailwith a download link for the export file.

Exercise: To export the package data.

The package data is exported via the "Export package(s)" tab in Package management in the "Workplace"view.

In order to edit and release packages in SPPS, packages must first of all be transferred fromincoming packages to the package master.Packages cannot be transferred to the package master until all associated parts have beencompletely defined. Whether a package has been completely defined can be seen by its status.Packages that are not required can be rejected and thus excluded from further processing. They willthen no longer be visible in incoming packages.

Status Description

Packages that are not required can be rejected via the "Reject package" button in incoming packages or duringpackage editing, and then viewed via the "Rejected packages" function.Packages that have been rejected can be deleted via the "Rejected packages" function and then viewed via the"Deleted packages" function. Both rejected as well as deleted packages can be restored via the "Rejected packages" or "Deleted packages"functions. In the "Deleted packages" function, deleted packages can be removed from SPPS forever via the "Delete markedselection" button.

Rejected packages are not sent to the DMS during the package export. For deleted packages, a delete record is generated during the package export. This also deletespackages in the dealer system. After a package has been restored, a complete package data record is generated again during apackage export.

Exercise: To reject, delete and restore packages.

Rejection takes place in the "Accept the packages" function , deletion in the "Rejected packages" function and restoration in the "Deleted packages" function .

Packages with status are completely defined packages. They contain all necessary part information and can beaccepted directly after the package has been received.

Exercise: A search is to be performed for completely defined packages with a specific operation number .These

packages must then be accepted.

The "Accept changed packages" function contains updated packages that have already beenchanged in the past. If there are packages in this function, this is signalled by the exclamation mark.

For every changed package, a check must be performed to see whether the changes are to beretained or discarded after the update. The rejection or acceptance procedure for changed packagesis then performed in the same way as for standard packages.

Example:A dealer adds a part number to an existing package as this part (e.g. lubricant) is required forthe work scope. He informs the MPC that the part number should always be contained in thepackage in future. The MPC transfers the part number to the package in question. The next time the package is updated, the package appears to the dealer in the function "Acceptchanged packages". The dealer checks the package and discovers that the part number is nowcontained in the package by default and that his change is thus superfluous. He can discard hischanges via the "Restore contents" function and transfer the package as the original package.

The following functions are available for changed packages.

Button Description

Acceptpackage Transfer with all previous changes, incl. expansion/reduction of the original package.

Restorecontents

Transfer without changes. Expansions/reductions are ignored and the package iscreated as an original package again.

Changepackage Transfer with additional changes, incl. expansion/reduction of the original package.

After the relevant packages have been selected, they are published via the "Release packages"button. After packages have been released, they are available to the dealer in incoming packages. He canthen transfer them to his stock. As soon as the dealer has accepted packages, they are immediatelyavailable for all connected users. They do not have to be released by the dealer again.

Groups are used to bring packages with the same work volumes for different model series together, for example. Different calculation types that deviate from a standard calculation can be saved forgroups.

Example:As part of a springtime promotion, a specific discount is to be granted for all passenger cars forchanging the tyres. To this end, packages related to the tyre change are brought together in onegroup across all passenger car model series. This means that all affected packages do not haveto be re-calculated individually. Instead, a special calculation can be performed directly for allpackages contained in the group.

Calculation regulations assigned to the group, e.g. a target price, only apply for packages for as longas they are assigned to the group. If a package is removed from the group or the group is deleted, thestandard calculation applies for the affected package.

Groups with a yellow group icon have been created by the MPC; groups with a blue groupicon by the dealer. If a calculation icon ( or ) has been added to the icon, this meansthere is a calculation regulation for this group.

When packages are transferred from incoming packages, they are automatically calculated and a price assigned tothem. The standard calculation is performed on the basis of the parameters saved in the "Workplace" view such as labour rateand prices for parts and merchandise. Detailed information about the composition of the package price can be found in the "Information" function of Packagemanagement in the "Calculation values" tab.

With SPPS, different methods for calculating individual fixed prices and forming prices are available, in addition to thestandard calculation. An individual calculation is performed using different calculation types, depending on the strategy and market situation. These are discount, markup and target price. These calculation regulations as well as a mixed calculation(discount/markup on parts/wages) can be applied to the entire package or only to the parts and/or operations containedin it.SPPS also offers a method of forming a signal price for the package prices. Individual prices can be calculated for packages in the "Calculation" function.

The "Calculation of changed packages" function is largely similar to the "Calculation" function. The difference lies in thefact that only fixed price packages whose list price has changed due to a change to the master data (e.g. parts price orlabour rate) are displayed here. These packages may require a re-calculation. Otherwise, the new price can be confirmed. If there are packages in this function after an update, this is signalled by means of the exclamation mark. Packages inthis folder must be processed.

The "Delta" column shows whether the list price has increased (green) or decreased (red). If the changes are not accepted, the packages must be marked and confirmed via the "Confirm packages" button sothat the current price is retained. If the changes are accepted, the packages must be marked, re-calculated via the "Start calculation" button and thechanges saved via the "Save changes" button.

Groups are required so that several prices can be shown for one and the same package. An individual calculation can be assigned to every group in the "Group management" function of Edit packages.Changes to the calculation regulation always affect all packages assigned to the group.

Group calculations are only active for a package for as long as the package is assigned to the group. If apackage is deleted from a group, the group calculation no longer applies and only the standardcalculation is used.

The standard calculation is performed on the basis of the parameters saved in the "Workplace" view, such asVAT rate,Price calculation basis (labour rate/hour),Labour rate,Prices for parts andPrices for merchandise.

A change to the calculation parameters always triggers a re-calculation of all packages for all connectedusers.

The wage component is shown with three different labour rates. No discount is given for wages. Example - Labour rates created in the "Labour rates" tab of the "Workplace" view

Packages can be calculated with a defined fixed price, e.g. in marketing or comfort campaigns. If a target price is defined, the labour rate changes. The labour rate displayed is a theoretical value that is calculated onthe basis of a proportional distribution of the sales deductions/increases.The specified target price is compared with the minimum, average and maximum package price as calculated percolumn, and the profit amount is re-calculated (at the same labour rate). The margin displayed refers to the parts and the labour. To the parts because the net purchase price was calculatedusing the reference discount groups. The margin on the work is calculated by means of a purchase price that has beenentered.

If the target price is shown in red, the calculation should be checked. In these cases, the purchase priceof the parts has been undershot.

After the target price has been calculated, whether a margin under-usage has occurred must be checked in thecalculation overview. When the minimum margin is entered in %, packages that do not reach this minimum margin aredisplayed and can be re-calculated.The target price calculation can be forwarded to connected users as a price recommendation or price maintenance.

Exercise: To calculate packages with a target price.

Select packages in the "Calculation" function, select "Target price" via the pull-down menu and click on the"Start calculation" button.

The following steps are necessary:

1. Select the "Target price" calculation regulation and click on the "Start calculation" button.2. Enter the target price, calculate the prices and transfer them.3. Check the margin under-usage and start the calculation for affected packages.4. Enter the target price, calculate the prices and transfer them.

Signal prices have a psychological and marketing effect on the customer. An extended rounding function is availablefor calculating signal prices, i.e. amounts can be rounded up or down.Signal price formation results in a rounding difference that is shown in the "calculation values".

Signal prices can be formed in all calculations except the "Target price" calculation regulation.

Exercise: To form signal prices for packages using a standard calculation.

Select packages in the "Calculation" function and enter the calculation in the "Signal price" area.

The following markups can be calculated via the markup calculation:Absolute markup (absolute value on the purchase price)Markup on package in %Markup on parts in %Markup on wages in %

Calculating the markup:Wages + Parts (BLP) = Subtotal (net) - Discount as per Daimler reference discount groups = Purchase price + Desired markup = Total price (net)

The markup is calculated on the basis of the purchase package price (excl. tax). Markups and discounts are performed by default on the total package price, i.e. including wage labour. When a markup is calculated, the markup is only applied to the total of wages and net purchase price of the parts. Thismarkup is not to be equated with the margin. The margin to be achieved is specified in this way.

Sample markup/margin: Markup 10% = margin 9.09% Markup 20% = margin 16.67% Markup 30% = margin 23.08%

The margin is calculated from the reference discounts saved for the parts in question. The value of themargin and that of the markup therefore differ from each other.

Exercise: To calculate packages with a markup on parts.

Select packages in the "Calculation" function, select "Markup on parts [%]" via the pull-down menu and clickon the "Start calculation" button.

The following discounts can be calculated via the discount calculation:Absolute discount (absolute value on the gross list price)Discount on package in %Discount on parts in %Discount on wages in %

Discount calculation:Wages + Parts (BLP) = Subtotal (net) - Desired discount = Total price (net)

The discount is calculated in relation to the sales package price (excl. tax).

Exercise: To calculate packages with a discount on the package.

Select packages in the "Calculation" function, select "Discount on package [%]" via the pull-down menu andclick on the "Start calculation" button.

If packages are calculated using two different calculation parameters, mark the required packages and select"Discount/Markup on parts/wages" via the pull-down menu. The following variants can be calculated via the mixed calculation:

Discount/Markup parts in currency unit or %Discount/Markup wages in currency unit or %Discount/Markup parts in currency unit or % and wages in currency unit or %

Whether a discount or markup is calculated depends on the prefix that is entered.Positive values (e.g. 20) = markupNegative values (e.g. -20) = discount
