Location

• Situated in the heart of Rabajà, the historical and renowned “sori” in the territory of Barbaresco

• Barbaresco is from the Latin word “Barbarica Silva” meaning Barbarian Forest, as the Romans called the Oak-trees wood covering the hills at the time.

• Cortese comprises nearly 10 acres of the Rabajà vineyard, one of Barbaresco’s top crus.

• Has one of the best microclimates due to the vineyards disposal recalling a natural amphitheater

History

• The Cortese family has been producing wine for three generations

• Founded in 1971 by the Cortese family.• Production is characterized by the mix of

traditional methods and the implementation of modern wine processing technics.

• In the 1990s, Giuseppe was joined by his son Piercarlo, who studied at the enological school of Albá.

• Today, Cortese is the typical small, family-run winery.

• Giuseppe’s wife Rosella and daughter Tiziana also play active roles in the family business.

History

• Today, Giuseppe Cortese produces wines exclusively from grapes grown in their own vineyards, from vines that are 15 to 25 years old.

• The winery itself is housed in the family’s private residence, perched atop a picturesque hillside with rows of vines that lead all the way up to the back door.

• The basement houses the winemaking equipment and barrel room.• With an unrivaled understanding of the Nebbiolo grape, profound respect and

knowledge of the terroir of Barbaresco, and long-held family traditions, Giuseppe Cortese is able to craft some of Piedmont’s most exceptional wines.

OwnerGiuseppe Cortese•A native of Barbaresco.•He joined his father Giacomo in the family’s wine business, which at the time consisted of selling their grapes and wine in bulk.•Refined his vineyard management and winemaking skills at the renowned Marchesi di Gresy winery in Barbaresco. •Began re-orienting the family’s wine business. He remodeled the winery, improved vinification techniques, and purchased new parcels in the famous Rabajà vineyard.

Barbaresco Rabajà DOCG

Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva DOCG

• 100% Nebbiolo• The grapes are selected from the oldest vines in the

prestigious Rabajà cru. • Intense and ethereal bouquet of plums, prunes,

cinnamon, cocoa, tobacco, leather and spice. Dry, and full-bodied, with robust flavors developing on the palate and unveiling this wine's very solid structure and elegance.

• Incredibly long-lived, it is recommended with pot roasts, truffles, polenta with ossobuco, and other rich fare.

Barbera d`Alba DOC

• 100% Barbera • Aromas of crushed red cherries and plum

fruit. On the palate, the wine is crisp, well-rounded and flavorful.

• A perfect choice for lasagna or tomato-sauced pastas, brick-fired pizzas, or slow cooked, smoked tenderloin.

Dolcetto d`Alba Trifolera DOC

• 100% Dolcetto • Made from 25-30 year old vines in the Trifolera zone,

which is named after the prized white truffles that can be found in the area.

• Notes of juicy black cherries, black currants and violets. This wine is very elegant and velvety with harmonious flavors and a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.

• Highly recommended with vegetable pastas, roasted game hens or pork tenderloin with cranberry sauce.

Nebbiolo Langhe DOC

• 100% Nebbiolo • Layered aromas of dried red cherries, plums,

cola and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is perfectly structured with integrated, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity, which along with its rich flavors, evolve into a sumptuously long finish.

• Ideal with robustly flavored cheese or braised beef dishes.
