Montgolfier Balloon (4-Module Envelope)
by Katrin and Yuri ShumakovHere are presented the original printable color patterns especially designed for Origami Hot Air Balloons from the ‘Oriland Balloon Ride’ book. Just print, cut needed rectangles and fold your special Canadian balloons along the diagrams presented in the book.
There are 2 pattern types – one with the maple leaf and the other one just plain red. You will need 2 sheets of each type, so that you have 4 modules. Of course, you may use 2 sheets of red paper instead of printing.
The round basket folds from a square with a side that is 3/8 of the side of the square used for the Montgolfier balloon module. Use red or white color, as you wish.
Have fun and happy folding!
Cut out the squares and fold the Montgolfier Balloon according the diagrams of ‘Montgolfier Balloon (4-Module Envelope)’, pages 126-129 of ‘Oriland Balloon Ride’ book.
Print 2 copies on sheets of paper (US Letter format) of white color (if using other paper formats, ie A4 or A3, zoom content to fit the height of the printout).

This variation works well for all the types of the top lock - outside top lock, inside top lock and even skirt-like.

BasketWhen you need a balloon envelope made of 4 modules, you may use rectangles that have 1 extra section, which will be used for overlapping. So, you’ll need 4 rectangles, 5:8 in proportion each. For instance, you may efficiently use standard format of paper, Letter or A4, to yield a rectangle 5:8, as shown.

Cut out the rectangles and fold the Balloon according the diagrams of ‘Hot Air Balloon (Modular Envelope)’, pages 14-43 (Outside Top Lock) or 62-80 (Inside Top Lock) of ‘Oriland Balloon Ride’ book.
