Kit Bag / HoldallI you dont intend to travel on then a sturdy holdall/kit bag
is ideal getting in an out o the hold on truck based trips.
Shoulder Bag / Day SackTrekking trips will be enhanced i a good day sack is used.Shoulder bags are handy or keeping with you in the truck.
ThermalsImportant or any trip into high altitude.
Useul or those who eel the cold in areas where eveningtemperatures can plummet, such as the desert.
Walking BootsUsually sturdy shoes will suce. Those doing trekking
should consider mid or high leg boots.
GlovesWork gloves or working around camp, collecting wood andjungle trekking. Thermal gloves or altitude.
Water BottlesOverlander trucks usually have large water tanks so a 1ltrbottle will suce but or trekking it is necessary to carry
at least 2 Litres. A 2 litre bladder or 2 x 1 Litre bottles
should be considered.
Sleeping BagProbably the most dicult item to get right, especiallyor multi destination trips. Going rom high altitude t o hot
plains or desert where evening temperatures can plummetis a challenge. I you eel the cold cater or the cold-est, carry a sheet liner or hot environments, otherwise
versatility and layering is the key. Consider a 1 2 seasonsleeping bag + a tropical quilt + thermal baselayer +
feece or insulated mid layer.
Mosquito NetsNot necessary or truck based trips as tents are supplied
but very useul or sleeping under the stars and when awayrom the truck.
Sel Infating MatsMats are very important or ground insulation andcomort, ordinary camping mats are ne but bulky (not an
issue on the truck as there is plenty o storage space). Selinfating mats are by ar the more comortable and pack
down small, a repair kit is essential they are easilypunctured, especially in some areas o Arica whereglass-like sand and thorns are prevalent.
Tropical QuiltA versatile alternative to a sleeping bag. Particularly
suited to Overlanding. This sleeping bag can be worn asa poncho, great or duvet days t ravelling on the truck, or
sitting around the camp at night.
EatingOverland tour vehicles generally carry eating anddrinking utensils, but check rst.
Sports BraA Sports Bra will give added comort when travelling in thetruck over rough terrain. It gets bumpy sometimes.
