Best Practices3a Engaging Students in Learning: Ms.
Williams
Ms. Williams did a wonderful job using manipulatives as shows on slide 4 to engage her students in learning. Her
materials and resources supported the learning goals of ensuring students could
understand subtraction and required intellectual
Engagement. The pacing of the lesson provided
students the time needed to beintellectually engaged. Keep it up, Ms.
Williams!
3b Classroom environment:
Mr. Glackin and Ms. Zisk
Both teachers have calm, cozy corners or spaces in their rooms for students to
take a break. The classroom environment allows the
teacher to silently and subtly monitor
student behavior. Keep up the great work, Mr. Glackin
and Ms. Zisk!
82.1% of Teachers have attended 95% or more of days (121) as of 3.6.20.
There have been 121
days of school so
far for staff only. Keep
up the great work!
Try your best…. miss
9 days or less!
Excellent job teachers!
Our Vision and MissionThe vision of OEC is to be a model school
in the School District of Philadelphia by 2020 as rated by the School Progress
Report (SPR) (we scored 68% for 18-19 school year and we must earn 75% to be rated a model so are just 7% away from
reaching that goal) while creating the least restrictive environment for students with
special needs.
Additionally, 100% of our 8th graders will have the opportunity to attend the high
school of their choice. We will accomplish this through:
-Ambitious Instruction-A Supportive Environment
-Involved Families-Collaborative Staff
-Effective Leadership
Our mission is to prepare students to become positive, productive citizens who can live independently and with purpose to serve others and to ensure proficiency (or above) for all students in each subject
area and development of strong character.
At least 80% of students and 90% of staff will attend 95% or more of school days (miss 9 days or less). We are currently at 75.3%.
At least 70% of students will earn A’s and B’s in core courses in grades 6-8.Quarter 2 = 30.7%
At least 82% of K-2nd grade will score at target on the Spring aimsweb and make at least 1 year’s growth from Q1 to Q4 in their independent reading levels. Q1 = 87.5%
The percentage of students scoring at proficient or
advanced on the ELA PSSA will increase by 15% in each
grade level.
No more than 20% of students will score below basic on the math PSSA.
Hello Parents of OEC!We will be holding an attendance competition for the whole school based on the Monopoly game. Students will win prizes as a whole class as their class moves along the game board based on achieving 95% attendance as a whole. Students must be in school and on time to help their class move along the game board.
Prizes include such things as free dress down days, pajama days, donuts, dance party, and a pie in Ms. Caroline’s face!
Please help to ensure that your child is coming to school every day and on time!
