Over-the-net Faults NFHS Rule 9-6 ART Blocking a ball which is entirely on the opponents side of the net is permitted when the opposing team has had an opportunity to complete its attack. The attack is considered complete when the: a) Attacking team has completed its three allowable hits; b) Attacking team has had the opportunity to complete the attack or, in the referees judgment, directs the ball toward the opponents court; c) Ball is falling near the net and, in the referees judgment, no legal member of the attacking team could make a play on the ball. Team on right has only used one hit... Ball is falling on the attacking teams side after one hit... A player is in a position to play the ball... Defending player contacts the ball entirely on opponent's side of the net before they have completed their attack.
