Annual Assessment

If you have not yet paid the $363.00 annual assessment your account has been assessed a $36.30 late fee and an $8.00 admin fee, bringing your account total to $407.30.

If the fees listed below have been assessed to your account, the Association has already paid for the work to prepare and mail the late letter and turn your account over to the attorney’s office. These are hard costs and cannot be waived by the Board.

Late Letter Fee: $225 Attorney Prep/Turn over Fee: $150

If your account gets turned over to the attorney’s office for collections, the board has no power to waive any fees that are incurred due to your overdue account. Legal costs are expensive and could cost more than $2,000. Those owners with a delinquent balance on their account receive monthly statements from Personalized Property Management until their account has been paid, unless your account has been sent to legal for collections.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Next Step in Reimagined San Pablo

The City of Palm Desert will celebrate another significant step in the creation of a new downtown on Wednesday, May 1, when the City Council breaks

ground on construction of a reimagined and reconfigured San Pablo Avenue.

The 9 a.m. ceremony on northbound San Pablo, just north of Alessandro Drive, will include information about San Pablo’s transformation into a key artery in a revitalized city center where walking, biking, and fun are the focus.

Envisioned changes on San Pablo include new shade trees and landscaping, wider sidewalks, pocket parks, enhanced bike lanes and parking, a new roundabout at San Pablo and San Gorgonio Way, and a “road diet” that will narrow the wide, four-lane road to one lane in each direction.

Many of these elements were demonstrated in May 2016 during Vision San Pablo, an 11-day demonstration project that gave residents, local businesses, and visitors an advance look at the proposed changes along with a street party featuring live music, food trucks, and children’s activities.

For more information about San Pablo and all of the exciting changes taking place, please call 760-776-6384.

By the Coachella Valley Water District

Every few years, the conditions are just right. Nourished by rain and sun, the desert spaces in and around the Coachella Valley become streaked with color, from

the purple of the sand verbena, the orange of the globe mallow and the yellow of the desert dandelion. Some years, such as in recent months, the wildflowers achieve “super bloom,” encouraging residents and tourists alike to find and photograph as many as possible until they disappear again.

While it is not every year that we have a wildflower super bloom, we can always use the palette from nature as inspiration for our own gardens. Look to the colors around you and integrate some of these color schemes into your own natural garden landscaping.

Inspired by the yellows of area fields? Consider planting brittlebush that features bright daisy-like flowers in the spring. Love the purple of the swaths of sand verbena, you might consider ground morning glory, a trailing evergreen perennial that promises lavender-blue flowers all summer.

If you need inspiration, the Coachella Valley Water District has published a book “Lush & Efficient: Desert Friendly Landscaping in the Coachella Valley.” The most recent revised edition outlines ways to bring the beauty

of native plants into your landscaping and includes a list with photos of wildflowers that are adapted to grow in the Coachella Valley.

As the book states, the new look of the color bed is a shift away from annuals that need to be replaced in spring and fall and are not efficient users of water. Instead, the landscape design features desert-friendly plants such as water efficient perennials, shrubs, cacti and succulents.

“Rather than blanketing an expansive bed with rows of bedding plant annuals, these plants are artfully combined with non-native plants: native boulders, rock and decomposed granite, creating a more natural look,” the book states. “We live in a desert with an annual rainfall averaging about 4 inches per year. This new approach to adding color to our environment speaks to that.”

A wildflower that can be grown easily in Coachella Valley gardens is owl’s clover. It grows to about 8 inches high with rose-pink to purple flowers. Native to the Southwest, it reseeds well and is drought tolerant.

You can find additional information about desert-friendly gardening on the conservation pages at CVWD’s website, www.cvwd.org . You can also order a copy of “Lush & Efficient” for $10 from this link:

Mommy, I love youMore than you seeYou have always been thereWhen I needed you to be

I know I don't showHow great my love isBut I need you to knowAll the love of you I have to give

I wish there was moreFor you I could doBut all I can sayIs how much I love you

It is deeper than the oceansHigher than the sunI could shout it foreverAnd still not be done

Your smile is a keepsakeI keep close to my heartThat I open up and treasureWhen we are apart

Tears In My Daddy’s Eyes© Unknown Mystery

He was always my pillar when I knew I’d fall

Always my anchor, so strong and tall

His hard face changes only for me

His softer side, so careless and free

He knows my dreams are too big for this place

His little girl’s leaving, ready to begin her race

He knows I’ll be thinking of him wherever I go

I know I’m ready to do this on my own

But still I cry and he holds me tight

He tries to be strong, not a tear in sight

I’m ready to reach for the stars in the sky

He’s ready to watch his princess fly

It’s time to let go, sure of a path to take

But now I know, even pillars can break

For when I drive away, trying to stifle my cries

All I could see were tears in my father’s eyes
