“Reborn to Be?”

I did not follow rock music when I was young, but I was familiar with a song from a band called “Stephanwolf.” The song was called “Born to be Wild.” The song goes:

“Like a true nature's child, we were born, born to be wild.

We can climb so high, I never wanna die.

Born to be wild …”

Now Steppenwolf was not a Christian band. They were a secular group, but their songs often carried interesting messages. And in this particular song Steppenwolf de-clared:

“I don’t want to be like everybody else.

I was born to be different than others.

I was born to be wild and free.”

In that song of the 60’s – a song of rebellion and coun-terculture – Steppenwolf touched on a truth that the Bible has taught us for centuries. And that Biblical truth was this: As Christians, we weren’t born to be like every-body else. We REborn to be different. We were REborn to be wild and free from this world.

What was the “wildest” thing you did for the Lord? This week and next, four of our members, Mona Wells, Kathy Eubanks, Belinda Nort, and Linda Gabelman are going on an “adventure” to Brazil. Pray for them during this mis-sion trip, and for our partners at Central Brazil Mission.
