NSPIRE Outreach is working with homeless men and women to support them in cultivating the skills and tools necessary to leave the streets behind for good. This innovative program addresses the whole person – mind, body and spirit – to examine and eliminate the situations and perceptions that led to living on the streets.

THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

EMPLOYMENTEach program participant is hired and trained initially as a customer service representative for our clothing campaign. This is an entry level position but serves as a powerful stepping stone into a longterm career.

EDUCATIONEach client is required to participate in continued education. This may represent obtaining a GED, an online certificate program, 2-year technical degree, or a full four-year degree. The NSPIRE program awards a $500 grant to each client to assist with books, supplies, tuitions, etc.

PHYSICAL FITNESS AND HEALTHPhysical health is an important value underscored in this process. Two workouts are required each week with a personal trainer. Healthy food choices and nutrition are frequently covered in our client sessions.

LIFE SKILLS4 different classes are conducted over 20 weeks by success coaches:• Goal setting• Self esteem• Financial literacy• Career readiness

FAITHAll clients participatein a weekly churchservice and personalspirituality isencouraged.

COUNSELINGThe program participants meet weekly with a clinical psychologist with specific experience in addiction, abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. They meet in groups as well as individually. The group sessions focus on survival skills, living and working in community and addressing fears and life changes during this transition.

CLOTHINGBecause of generous donations, each participant gets a new wardrobe of gently used clothing of their choosing that is work appropriate. Each participant is also given athletic apparel and shoes.

FOOD AND NUTRITIONNSPIRE operates a food pantry resourced by individual and corporate donations. Clients and other families in need benefit from this service. NSPIRE additionally conducts outreach events that feed thousands of hot meals annually to those struggling in the community.

HOUSINGNSPIRE can work with the homeless men and women in this program by providing jobs, meals, clothing, outreach, and opportunities for spiritual growth but without a roof over their head, what change can possibly survive? In an ambitious effort, NSPIRE is renting apartments and houses for members of the program. NSPIRE provides the security deposit and thereafter the tenants pay a program charge that includes their portion of housing and utilities. The homes are furnished through donations.
