Introduction

1.0 Planned Scope

Construction of Student Accommodation Development for University College Cork consisting of 4 blocks of 8,9 and 10 Storey in height over a common ground floor area.

The Primary Structure will be cast in-situ flat slab, the Ground Floor Structure proposed as Suspended Slab on Ground Beams/Pile caps and Piled Foundations.

The Proposed Building will be predominantly student accommodation (Approximate 200 no Plus Bed Spaces) with some healthcare, administration, support services and retail units at

Ground Floor Level.

2.0 Outline Construction Methodology

The Outline Construction Methodology is a High Level Executive Summary document which outlines the Planned Construction Intent proposed to successfully deliver the Project. The

Planned Construction Intent is to construct the Development from East to West.

We have included a series of drawings to demonstrate our Planned Construction Intent with specific reference to the following Key Issues.

• Traffic Management Intent

• Proposed Construction Traffic - Site Access and Egress Routes

• Proposed Construction Personnel - Site Access and Egress Routes

• Proposed Hoarding Lines

• Proposed Tower Crane Strategy

• Proposed Site Compound and Contractors Accommodation

• Proposed Loading / Unloading Zone

• Proposed Material Lay Down Areas

• Proposed Programme

3.0 Traffic Management Intent –

A Key Issue on the Project is to ensure that Construction Traffic does not impact on Victoria Cross Road as this Road forms part of Cork University Hospitals Critical Emergency

Transport Arteries for Emergency Vehicles Travelling to and from Cork University Hospital.

To mitigate the risk of Traffic Congestion on Victoria Road, NO CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC WILL BE PERMITTED ON VICTORIA CROSS ROAD.

We have attached a series of drawings noting the planned access and egress routes to site.

All Construction Traffic exiting the site will turn left only and will head West along the N22 until it reaches the N40.

All Construction Traffic entering the site will access the site from the West along the N22.

We also propose the positioning of a full time Traffic Management Coordinator at the Proposed Site Entrance to Ensure full compliance with the Approved Traffic Management Plan.
