Cordura ® is the most widely used textile upper, if versatility, reliability and durability are required for a product. It offers high abrasion and tear resistance, superior to other fibres or cotton fabric. Cordura ® is made of 100% polyamide as a chemical raw material and the melting point is about 210 ° C. The fabric is available for different purposes in different variants. In the motorcycle industry a 500-D Cordura ® fabric is typical. Hitena ® Hitena ® is an abrasion-resistant fabric made of twisted yarn. It is a very strong material, yet has a soft feel, is stable in shape and lighter than ordinary polyamide. Nano-Tex ® Nano-Tex ® is a manufacturer of textiles using techniques based on nanotechnology. The materials receive various surface treatments that adds their properties. The main new feature is the dirt-repellent character created by this surface treatment. The products of Nano-Tex ® comply with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Schoeller ® Dynatec ® Schoeller ® Dynatec ® is a protective fabric specially developed for motorcycle clothing. It is tear-and abrasion-resistant, durable and easy care. It is abrasion proof with good thermal properties. The melting point is 290° C. Dynatec ® is made of Cordura ® and Dynafil TS 70. The material complies with the environmental label Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Schoeller ® Keprotec ® Schoeller ® Keprotec ® was developed more than 15 years ago for motorcycle racing. The fabric is made of Cordura ®, Dynafil TS 70, Kevlar ® and polyurethane. The material complies with the environmental label Oeko- Tex Standard 100. In the plastic base material carbon fibres are embedded as reinforcement. Carbon fibres have high strength and rigidity, but with a low breaking point. Taslan Taslan is a specially textured nylon fiber with a soft textile feel. The fabric is usually water-repellent and breathable. Thinsulate TM ThinsulateTM gives heat protection without unnecessary weight and bulk. CoolMax ® CoolMax ® is made of 100% polyester fibres. The structure of the fiber is designed so that it provides a larger surface area. Moisture is transported quickly in this fibre to the outside. Neopren ® Neopren ® is an elastic, flat material made of foamed, synthetic rubber based on chloroprene. In the material, many small gas bubbles are distributed, so it has excellent thermal insulation properties. Clarino Clarino is deceptively similar to suede, but is made of synthetic fibers (60% Nylon and 40% polyurethane). Clarino is abarasion resistant, durable and washable. Elastan Spandex or elastane is a highly elastic synthetic fibre. It is similar to rubber, but has a higher strength and durability. Spandex is a block copolymer of polyurethane and polyethylene glycol.

CLIMATE MEMBRANES

Climate membranes are available from various manufacturers. In Europe the best known membranes are Gore-Tex ® and Sympatex ®. Other used membranes are from Reissa ®, Ex-Tex ™, ® and Porelle Hipora ® .

The basic functions of climate control in all membranes are identical or similar. They keep rain and wind out and allow water vapor to escape. This gives the clothing excellent weather protection and comfort features.

Membranes can be processed in different ways. They can be processed as a laminate or as a Z-liner. A laminate is the direct and extensive connection of two materials, eg the outer fabric and membrane. The Z-liner construction is the membrane fitted loose to the garment, so to speak as a “jacket in the jacket”. Both versions support the processing function of climate membranes.

Although effective at climate control and weather protection, the membranes are susceptable to mechanical and chemical damage. A holed membrane is no longer waterproof!. Similarly, when washing the clothes ensure the washing instructions are followed. Membranes should not be treated with inappropriate detergents or fabric softeners. Likewise treatment in the laundry dryer is to be avoided.

SympaTex®

The Sympatex ® membrane is a non-porous polyester film. Water from the outside can not enter, but water vapor molecules inside dissolve in the membrane and are transported by a physical-chemical means through the outer membrane. Only one-hundredth of a millimeter thick, in a jacket it weighs the same as a letter. Every seam is also specially sealed. In tests SympaTex ® has always been in the highest category.

Gore-Tex®

Gore-Tex® is a thin, microporous membrane of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It has a thickness of 0.025 mm with about 1.4 million pores per cm2. These pores allow water vapor molecules through, but no water molecules. Gore-Tex ® is waterproof, windproof and breathable.

Ex-Tex™is a microporous membrane with a polyurethane coating and different sized pores. Ex-Tex ™ is waterproof, windproof and breathable.

Humax®

is a microporous membrane based on polyurethane with different sized pores. Humax®is waterproof, windproof and breathable. Numerous pores (1.4 billion to 1cm2) prevent the large drops of rain from entering, but allow the small water vapor molecules in the body moisture to escape.

Porelle®

is a microporous membrane with a polyurethane coating and different sized pores. Porelle® is waterproof, wind proof and breathable.

Reissa® is a three-layer microporous membrane with a polyurethane coating and different sized pores. Reissa® is waterproof, windproof and breathable.

Hipora®

Hipora®is a waterproof polyurethane membrane, mainly used for gloves.

Abrasion Test�Performance Those who want to achieve something, must work for it. Sweating is the bodies means of temperature control. If the body overheats performance drops. The Sympatex ® membrane comes to the rescue and transports moisture away from the body, it generates an optimal comfort zone for optimum performance.

Breathability The membrane technology provides unique breathability. It works on a physical�chemical principle: the hydrophilic components of the membrane absorb moisture and release it by evaporation from the outside. The effect increases with temperature and humidity differences between the membrane sides. The greater the difference between inside and outside, the more moisture is passed through the membrane. The effectiveness of the membrane is demand�driven.

100% waterproof and windproof The Sympatex ® membrane exceeds the requirements of DIN Standard. It can withstand up to 25 metres of water pressure. Thus continuous rain presents no problem, even after washing it remains 100% waterproof.The SympaTex®�Membrane is totaly windproof, thus reducing the wind chill effect. A gust of 15mph at an ambient temperature of +5 ° C reduces the perceived temperature to �6 ° C. A corresponding reduction in performance is the result.

Guaranteed and tested ecologically The SympaTex®�Membrane is made of polyetherester, recyclable and harmless to the environment and skin. It is composed of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen and there�fore is 100% free of toxic residues and environmentally degradable. The mem�brane complies with the Oeko�Tex 100 and is certified by bluesign ® standards. Quality is a priority for SympaTex ®. All products with SympaTex ® are manufactured only by licensed partners. In the laboratory, the Sympatex ® products are carefully tested for processing, water�and wind�resistance and breathability and durability. All seams are sealed with the original Sympatex ® Tape.
