IntroductionOutdoor Advertising is the

oldest form of advertising and is different from other advertising media forms.

Types – Posters, Billboards, Hoardings & Transit advertising.

Market share – Approx 1600 crores.

Price – Charged on basis of week, month & year. Price ranging between Rs. 5000 to Rs.1.5 lakh per hoarding depending on the location.

Mumbai itself has more than 5000 hoardings, more than 20000 kiosks & equal number of other modes of outdoor sites

Billboards OR PostersBillboard advertising is the

most commonly and widely used form of outdoor advertising.

The word ‘billboard’ or ‘poster’ has its origin in the playbill posted outside the theatre, on the walls, fences, etc.

Original poster paper was sized at 28” x 41” & several such sheet is combined to make a huge poster.

Outdoor posters on roadside are used extensively for promotions.

Public transport system is mainly used for its advertising confirming it as a potential mass medium of advertising.

Is essentially a low cost medium.

It offers a sure exposure and repetitiveness.

Reaching large population.

Having a long exposure.

It can present a fairly long copy, unlike other outdoor advertising where the copy is as brief as possible.

Printing machine costs more than Rs. 3.5 crores.

Machine having no upper limit on the length of the picture but width restricted to 8 feet.
