OUTBACKARCHIES 2016Celebrating its 6th year, the Outback Archies is an annual art prize and exhibition open to residents in the Outback Arts and Orana Arts regions. Entries can include, but are not limited to, photography, painting, drawing, print-making and sculpture.

With cash and vouchers up for grabs, awards will be given in the categories of Open 2D (including painting, drawing, print-making and etching), Photography & Sculpture (including ceramics, glass art and metal work) with entries and winners assessed by a panel of judges.

A prize will be awarded to winning artists in each section as well as People’s Choice and Most Outstanding Indigenous Artist, and an overall Outback Archies 2016 winner.

Dates to remember:

12th August - Applications close.

29th August onwards - Notification of success to exhibit.

12th September – Delivery of entries.

19th September – 7th October – Exhibition at OBA Gallery.

23rd September – Formal exhibition opening and announcement of winners.

Applications open Friday 1st July – Friday 12th August.

8. Dimensions must not exceed approx 1.7m x 1m including the frame (excluding sculptures).

9. All entries must be ready for hanging. Framed and unframed works must have D-rings or wire attached.

10. The work must be clearly labelled on the back with the artist’s name, address, title, medium and price. It is intended that the works selected will be shown in the exhibition. Should space prevent the display of the work, the gallery will advise the entrant.

12. Artworks available for sale will be charged a commis-sion rate of 20% of the sale price by Outback Arts. If not for sale clearly display NFS when labelling.

13. Unsold artworks must be collected by October 14th between the hours of 9am and NO LATER that 4pm. Artworks not selected to tour will be held for no longer than one week following the completion of the exhibition and Outback Arts retains no responsibility for damage.

14.The artist is deemed to have accepted sole responsibility for ensuring that the work submitted by the artist does not infringe on any copyright laws.

15. The Outback Arts staff will exercise every care in handling each artwork but will in no way be responsible for any damage, loss or theft. Artists are responsible for their own insurance cover against damage, loss or theft. Freight and insurance is the responsibility of the artist. 16. Artworks must be created solely by the entrant.

17. Artists selected agree that Outback Arts reserves the right to reproduce or copy any artwork submitted in any form for advertising and promotional purposes and or in relation to the project.

18. The exhibition will be held at the Outback Arts Gallery, 65 Castlereagh St, Coonamble from the 19th September to the 7th October.

19. Subject matter is based around, but not constrained to, the theme of ‘Legends & Landscapes’. This is open to the individuals interpretation.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Please note: entrants must be over 18 years and a resident situated in the Outback Arts (Bourke, Cobar, Coonamble, Wal-gett and Warren Shires) and Orana Arts (Dubbo City, Gilgandra, Mid Western Regional, Narromine and Warrumbungle Shire Councils) regions

1. Artworks must be in the form of visual arts - Open 2D (painting, print-making, etching, drawing etc.), Photogra-phy & Sculpture (glass art, ceramics, metal work etc.).

2. Application forms must be arrive no later than Fri-day 12th August and accompanied by the entry fee for each entry including .jpg images of work (minimum resolution 500KB and labeled with title of work and artists name).3. A pre-selection judging process will take place from the digital images to produce a shortlist of artworks to be hung in the exhibition.

4. Entry fee is $5 per work. Entry fee is non-refundable and covers administration and handling. Payment may be made by cheque, cash or direct transfer to Outback Arts Inc. Envelopes must be addressed to Outback Arts. P.O Box 28 Coonamble NSW 2829

5. Artists whose works are selected for exhibiting will be notified on or following the 29th August.

6. Successful entries must be delivered on or before 12th September by 4pm to OBA Gallery 65 Cas-tlereagh St, Coonamble and the artist is responsible for all forward and return freight costs. Location pick ups in the Outback Arts and Orana Arts areas will also be organised. Contact Outback Arts on 6822 2484 for more details.

7. Artist agrees that works selected (including winning works) will be on tour for the remainder of the year and early 2017 and the artist will be notified of these arrangements.
