The nerves, the excitement and the pressure all add to a potentially frightening

experience – the FIRST DATE. Just like on Halloween, on a first date we dress up

and act like someone we’re not - a great way to get candy when you’re a kid but not

the best recipe to make a real connection.

Take the fright out of date night. On a first date pheromones

Edmonton, AB February 9, 2009 – The economic downturn is affecting more than

consumerism, it’s affecting love lives. The old stand-by of heading to the club to find

that special someone is not as much of an option as before - it costs cash to go out for

drinks. There is also a pre-existing social pressure for first-time daters to “go out” for their

meeting. “This doesn’t need to be the case”, says Edmonton match maker, Elizabeth

MacInnis, “There are plenty of ways to meet singles, not just hitting the bar. And newly

dating couples have way more options than going out for dinner, drinks or movies. A date

doesn’t need to break the bank”.

Although times have changed there is still an underlying pressure for men to pay for

the date. In the current economical times this can add to underlying stress, which is not

conducive to building a solid relationship.

“Sometimes the best dates are the ones that cost the least”, admits Elizabeth.

Some cost effective options for meeting new people:

♥Make a Blind-Date Potluck! Each person brings a single friend of the opposite sex AND

brings a dish for dinner too. A casual dinner party with endless opportunities.

♥Go ice skating with a few friends but get out there and meet other skaters too. It’s free, it’s

fun and it’s a Canadian thing to do.

♥Walk your dog at a dog-run. This is a great way to get exercise and make new friends, for

both you and your pooch.
