This extremely picturesque city is a mosaic of colonial churches, narrow streets and Spanish-style homes with beautiful indoor patios, tiled roofs, and gorgeous colonial colors. Upon arrival, you could make a tour the city by horse drawn carriage, which will take you 500 years back to the past. Después del almuerzo, se embarcará en un viaje en barco a las Isletas. Situada a los pies del volcán Mombacho, la zona se compone de 365 pequeñas islas volcánicas, que se formaron cuando Mombacho estalló hace unos 20.000 años.

3. Night Lava Tour

Otra actividad espectacular es realizar un tour nocturno. El Parque Nacional Volcán Masaya ofrece esta excursión todos los días desde las 5PM hasta las 7.30-8PM. El tour comienza justo antes de la puesta del sol, con una visita a la cruz (Cruz de Bobadilla) con vistas al volcán y los alrededores.

A continuación es la observación de pericos que vuelven a las paredes del volcán. La segunda atracción es observar a un gran número de murciélagos que salen masivamente de sus cuevas. La excursión termina con un mirador que ofrece la posibilidad de observar dentro de la boca del cráter del volcán, observando la lava roja y resplandeciente.

Another spectacular activity is to undertake a nocturnal tour. The Masaya Volcano National Park offers this tour every day from 5PM until around 7.30-8PM. The tour starts right before sunset, with a visit to the cross (La Cruz de Bobadilla) overlooking the volcano and the surroundings. Next is the observation of Green Parakeets that come back to the volcano to roost.

The second attraction is to watch a large number of bats depart massively from their caves.The tour ends with a visit to a viewpoint that provides the possibility to actually look inside the crater mouth of the volcano, observing the red, glowing lava.

The Cerro Negro volcano is a young and unique volcano. The steep slopes of this black volcano lack of any vegetation. On and around the volcano lies a big layer of volcanic ash and rocks. An eruption in 1999 has left a wide border of black, volcanic material around the Cerro Negro and there are two smaller craters right next to the volcano which were recentlyformed.
