FORGING

Weconcentrateonhotmassiveformingofawiderangeofsteelsreachingfromlow-carbontostainlessausteniticsteels.Ourproductrangecomprisesforgedbarmaterialwith square, flat or circular cross section, as well asopen die forgings like rings, discs, bushings, prisms orshoulderedshaftsandpistons.

Prior to the forging operation, pre-heating of ingotsis performed in several gas-fired forging furnaces.Dependingonthesizeandtypeoftheforgedproduct,a 10MNhydraulicpress,a32kNforginghammerorseveralsmaller forging hammers (with ram weights between 500kgand1500kg)areused.

Forselectedcustomerswealsoofferhiredforgingofnon-ferrousalloys,e.g.titanium.

MACHININGHEAT TREATMENT

We operate state-of-the-art gas-fired heat treatmentfurnaces with hearth loads between 10 t and 70 t andoffer heat treatments according to demanding norms.Quenchingmediaarewater,polymer,andforcedair.

Machining (peeling, turning, milling) of our forgingscompletes our services. Thereby, we create advantagesforourcustomersintermsofenhancedplanningcertainty.Machiningtypicallycomprisespre-machiningofingots,barmaterialoropendieforgings.However,finalmachiningcanbeofferedifneeded.

ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT

Breitenfeld was the first steel mill in Austria whichpassed an environment inspection according to theIPPC-guidelines. Breitenfeld fulfils all legal environmentstandards. The ongoing investment strategy guaranteesthat our production facilities are the latest state of theart with respect to environmental considerations andcontemporaries.
