Ushers ...................................................... Worship through giving

It is no secret Sharon Missionary Baptist Church is in the midst of change. We must admit when the word change is mentioned, it brings a mix of emotions. If we are honest, we would probably agree change can be exciting, but it can also be a time of anxiety. These are natural feel-ings, after all we can only see up to the corner. However, let’s remem-ber that God can see around the corner.

Based upon this uncertainty though, of course we find ourselves asking, “What are we to do? How are we to respond?” I want to encourage you to remember the One who is unchangeable—Our God!

When theologians talk about God’s unchangeableness they describe it as God’s immutability which is defined as, “a divine attribute which ex-presses the truth that—in His nature and perfections, in His knowledge, in His will and purpose—He always remains the same in the fullness of His infinite and perfect Being: infinitely exalted above change.”

So, how is He unchangeable?

First, God’s being is unchangeable. Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17 (NKJV)

Second, God’s characteristics do not change and His love is con-stant. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13 (NKJV)

Third, God’s purposes and plans do not change. There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 (NKJV)

Fourth, God does not revoke his promises. The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body. Psalm 132:11 (NKJV)

Fifth, God’s Word does not change. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV)

Therefore based upon the Word of God, I simply want to remind you, that though Sharon is in the midst of change, God is unchangeable; we can rest in this fact.
