If I asked you to choose two Christian holidays to signify as most important you might choose Easter and Christmas. You might say Easter and Good Friday. If I gave you five choices, you might choose Christmas, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and Pentecost. Maybe you would choose Epiphany or Palm Sunday or the Ascension. If I got four choices I would choose Easter first, Good Friday second, Christmas third, and Pentecost fourth. Those holidays are significant to me because of the impact they had on the world. Pentecost is May 15 th , and you can read all about it in Acts, Chapter 2. It is when the Holy Spirit empowered the 120 people gathered in the Upper Room to go out into all the world to share the good news of Jesus Christ. It is often referred to as “the birthday of the Church”. Although Key West UMC is getting close to our 175 th anniversary (2019), the Church is now just a few years shy of 2000 years of age. Pentecost launched a global mission of two milenia so far that’s pretty significant! Youth News

KWESST will be sponsoring a concert by

Temple Veil on July 1st at the Michaud

Home. We invite YOU to join us for a time

of music, fun and fellowship. Pencil it in,

more details to follow.

The UMW presented their Special Mission Recognition Award pin and certificate to Julio Torrado, our Trustees Chairperson. Since Michelle Heaviland was not present on April 17th to receive her award, it will be mailed to her in North Florida, where she is now living. This award is based on the recipient’s support of our mission programs. In their honor, a gift for ministries with women, children and youth has been forwarded to the United Methodist Women, National Office, United Methodist Church.

Congratulations to Julio and Michelle!

New Railings

Make Safer Steps! A big Thank You to Julio and our Trustees

for arranging the manufacture and installation of these new hand rails on the

steps going into the Fellowship Room from the breezeway, and the door by the Choir Room. WE ARE THANKFUL FOR

THESE IMPROVEMENT TO OUR CAMPUS!

The “Cross Wall” in the office begins to take shape! We so much appreciate these crosses that have been donated for the office wall. We will continue to add more as they make their way to us. If you’d like to donate, please leave them in the Sanctuary on the pew under the stained glass window at the back, or drop by during Office Hours. Thank you !

The Church Office will be closed

Monday, May 30

in observance of Memorial Day.

WITH MANY THANKS

Thanks to all of you for the donations

that assured my election. Through your generosity $500 was raised for the Foster Children’s Fund for the “extras” that kids need to help them feel they are growing up in a loving

supportive environment. Pastor Terri Hill

Dear Church Family,

I want to thank you for the time I spent serving as Office Manager at this great church. You took a chance on me, someone who had been in Key West for only a short time, giving me an opportunity to be blessed in my service here. I hope that my work has in some way blessed your service at KWUMC. On May 2, I am beginning a new part of my journey in life and will begin work with the Nurturing Parenting Program at Wesley House Family Services. I will have an opportunity to work with families seeking to become healthier and to move from just surviving to thriving. Wesley House has some strong beginnings in the United Methodist Church. It feels like I will be continuing in that United Methodist connection while working as a part of the team at Wesley House. I spent the last week working with Allison Matejka. She will be a blessing to you so take an opportunity to come meet her. Thank you again for your support and love. You will see me around. Becky Love
