Historic Harmony

This colony was first named Murdering Town.It was also the location of the first shot that triggered the French/Indian War. The first shot was aimed at future president George Washington who also survived the shot.Shakertown at Pleasant Hill, and South Union Early Shakers were poor.During the Civil War, the Shakers moved to various locations.After the Civil War the Shakers had so many problems that the populations decreased greatly. The last official Shaker was Mary Settles [ 1836-1923].
