Fruits and flowers. Herbs and spices. There is virtually no flavor that haven’t been explored in the quest to create the sweet alcoholic libation known as liqueur. The sweet factor is what distinguishes liqueur from your everyday spirit, but beyond that.

In its nascent stages, liqueur production can be traced to the alchemists who were searching for the Elixir of Life. Some of the earliest herbal liqueurs, such as Chartreuse and Bénédictine, were produced in French monasteries, while Italy created its own category of bitter digestives known as amari. In the 16th century, we find liqueur production gradually left the medicinal confines of the monastic pharmacy and took on an altogether more recreational – and commercial – role.

Then we flash forward to the Golden Age of Cocktails in the late 1800s, where distinctive liqueurs – from Crème de Violette to Maraschino – were an essential component in hundreds of cocktails. By contrast, more pop culture-styled liqueurs, among them Kahlua and Midori, dominated drinks in the 1970s and 1980s. Now, with the cocktail renaissance and enthusiasm of the craft spirits community, the world of liqueurs has never been more diverse or exciting.

If a sharp, bitter cocktail is like a sweaty, ragged run, then a sweet cocktail is like yoga, gently improving you without the need to overtly remind you that “it’s working.” Whether you’re a lover of sweets who expects nothing less from their cocktails or a cocktail connoisseur who’s finally ready to give into the temptation of good, good sugar, here are a few sweet cocktails that are undeniably delicious.

Dulce en dulce en dulce, literalmente. El shot B52 está cubierto con Kahlua, Baileys y Grand Marnier. Nada más dulce que eso. Los shots en capas están muy atrasados para una reaparición, así que comienza el renacimiento y satisface a tu goloso con un B52.

El Melon Ball es el epítome de lo suave, dulce y delicado. Un producto del movimiento del cóctel dulce de la década de 1980 es una combinación de cosquilleo y el sabor dulce de Midori, jugo de naranja y vodka, básicamente un Jolly Rancher hecho bebida. No es demasiado fuerte, así que adelante y date un gusto.

Desserts had been present in the food rituals since the Greeks, being the cheesecake one of its examples. During the Romans time desserts became more important; honey, yeast bread and fruits were the star ingredients. These sweet snacks were used to be eaten between the dishes of their great feasts. The last vestige of these hors dóeuvres are the pre-dessert.

At the same time of these events in America the cacao was used, however, it wasn’t until the XVI century that this product was taken to Europe, but dessert wasn’t that appetizing at that time. Almost 200 years ago France was living a boom in their pastry, being them who coined the name dessert from the verb “desservir” (cleaning the table).

Nowadays, the pastry, bakery and all the other derived branches have evolved impressively at the same pass of the gastronomy giving as a result captivating dishes in appearance, techniques and flavors.

Los postres han estado presentes en los rituales de alimentación desde la época de los griegos, siendo la tarta de queso uno de sus ejemplos. First Stop. To start our journey, the chef recommendation is a light grill vegetables burrito with a chipotle chilli dressing.

Refresh & Unwind. With an amazing view, a warm weather and fresh wind, the chef recommendation is a tasty caprese panini accompanied with a refreshing Bloody Mary.

Hidden Paradise. With a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean as background, the chef recommendation is to enjoy a succulent beef fajita tostada and cheese chicharron, or for noon, a beef slider or even a governor taquito.

Last but not least. With the fresh breeze that this station offers, you cannot miss our classic margarita or a vodka tonic accompanied by a few snacks, so you can keep on golfing.

Primera Parada. Para comenzar nuestro recorrido, la recomendación del chef es un ligero burrito de vegetales a la parrilla acompañado con aderezo de chile chipotle.

Fresco & Relajante. Con una maravillosa vista y con un clima cálido y viento fresco, la recomendación del chef es un rico panini caprese acompañado de un refrescante Bloody Mary.

Paraíso Escondido. Teniendo una asombrosa vista al océano Pacífico, la recomendación es disfrutarla con una suculenta tostadita de fajitas de res y chicharrón de queso, o para el mediodía, un slider con carne de res o incluso un taquito gobernador.

Cíbola represents the elegance in service inside a private club in Montecristo Estates. It’s representative Mediterranean cuisine offers everything from fresh fish, homemade pastas to signature dishes with the freshest ingredients straight from our orchards. The chef suggests a delicious Benedictine eggs for breakfast; Looking for something more Mexican? Green “chilaquiles” with chicken is the way to go. Very hungry? Try our starry eggs. The Cíbola Clubhouse has a private pool area with a snackbar menu. If you happen to stop by during the day, don’t forget to try the chef’s specialty: shrimp ceviche with dehydrated “tostadas”. To accompany, our mixologist recommends a margarita on the rocks with tequila reposado and fresh lime juice.

Cíbola representa el servicio de elegancia dentro de un club privado en Montecristo Estates. Su cocina representativa mediterrá-nea ofrece desde pescados frescos, pastas hechas en casa hasta platillos insignia de con ingredientes frescos de nuestros huertos. El chef ofrece para el desayuno unos deliciosos huevos benedictinos. ¿Le gustaría probar algo más mexicano? Los chilaquiles verdes con pollo son la opción. ¿Mucha hambre? Un huevo estrellado no puede faltar.La Casa Club Cíbola tiene un área de piscina privada con un menú de snackbar.
