OUR TIME TODAY?WHAT WILL WE DO WITH
It is my pleasure to be here sharing stories and time with members of UDIA Victoria. Collectively you hold in your hands the
potential to help Australia usher in a rich and dynamic urban future. Today, I’ll be exploring six consumer trends and six
industry trends, and sharing how their convergence is leading to exciting opportunities in the urban development ecosystem.
My path to today, what matters to
me, as we head into an incredibly
exciting future together.
BIT ABOUT ME

DRONESThey used to be the stuff of science fiction, but flying drones are rapidly
emerging as a staple tool of the construction industry. UK Researcher
Juniper, said that Drone sales have been doubling year on year since
2015. The Urban Developer identified these three potential use cases.
Aerial Photography & Videography: Drones deliver a much richer view
of a property than possible from ground based photography alone. But
there is another thing they can do that is really cool for developers –
they can fly up and take photos that illustrate what views might look
like from upper floors and windows of a tower before it has even been
built!
Mapping & Surveying: They have reduced the cost and complexity of
performing mapping and surveying activities, this has resulted in more
uptake in capturing and using mapping and survey data. Property
owners and developers now have access to up to the minute terrain
maps, boundary lines, building point clouds and more.
Asset Inspection: They offer the perfect platform to inspect hard to
reach areas that would ordinarily be difficult, or risky to reach in person.
Applications include roof inspections, chimney inspections, and more.
Post storm damage assessment has never been easier or quicker.

VERY SMART CONSTRUCTIONDeep Blocks received investment from Singularity University Ventures
to develop their alpha software that uses artificial intelligence software
optimise development projects .
Deep Blocks boasts a simple,
comprehensive software platform
that dynamically integrates all the
assumptions required to analyze a
real estate development.
These include market data, financial
projections, building parameters, and
infographic map layers that give you
the flexibility and insight to fine tune
your development models. They are
in alpha.

THE PLAYER
The PLACE game is the connection between the customer and a cyber physical system (CPS) that controls production and manufacture of the home they design.
The 3D model created by players in the game acts as the 'Digital Record' that informs the system of actions that need to be taken within the PLACE digital manufacturing
ecosystem.
