PHILANTHROPY IMPACT REPORT

Page 2: OUR SHARED PASSION FOR MUSIC - Amazon Web Services · OUR SHARED PASSION FOR MUSIC PHILANTHROPY IMPACT REPORT 2016-2017. ... is to bring to life through statistics and testimonials,

As we launch this 2016—2017 Philanthropic Impact Report, we offer our deepest thanks for your generosity and enthusiastic support of Melbourne Recital Centre’s vision across its five impact areas of diverse programming, access for all, a platform for the best, nurturing young artists and reaching beyond the Centre.

The 2016—2017 program of 312 self-presented concerts and events supported by philanthropy, box office and sponsorship brought transformative shared experiences of music to over 73,000 people from all walks of life.

The Centre is sustained by its growing community of supporters where each person has their own special place. The aim of this report is to bring to life through statistics and testimonials, the difference you have made in the lives of artists and audiences through your gift this year.

This year we would particularly like to remember and honour the wonderful Dr Betty Amsden AO DSJ, Inaugural Artist Development & Music Education Benefactor whose philosophy of engaged philanthropy was ahead of its time. The way she gave of self as well as giving financially — observing, getting involved, encouraging young people in their endeavours — was not only inspiring; it changed lives.

To Betty and each of you who have contributed to the Melbourne Recital Centre story so far, thank you!
