Who we areFounded in 2007, Dlight has evolved into a global company that designs, engineers and produces lighting solutions with new sustainable LED products for residential, industrial, retail, hospitality, museum and commercial applications.
We use the phrase “Creating Atmospheres” as the brand standard that reflects Dlight’s holistic approach to each project, encompassing a deep commitment to sustainable products, extensive research, energy saving technology, design aesthetics and altruism, while supporting diversity and reliance.
Our customers have always come first in our business model. We leverage emerging lighting technologies to create designs that ensure our customers are in our best interest. We listen to customer concerns and build lighting solutions that will exceed their expectations.
Dlight’s diverse team are constantly exploring the ever-expanding boundaries of lighting design and
technology all while they maintain a strong foothold in the traditional values inherent to the design. Light is not an element that is added onto or into a design; it is an element that is inherently part of the building or space, a central part of the function and form of a project.
This is always our starting point, informing our analysis and our understanding of a project and creating clarity to our design process.
The diversity within the company brings knowledge and experience that allows Dlight to work with clients on many projects from hospitality and public spaces to retail and personal residences.

How does Dlight approach lighting design?Designing a basic lighting scheme requires the consideration of many factors, not just the achievement of a desired lighting level.
The basic objectives must first beestablished, such as:
- What sort of tasks will be performed in the area? - What ‘mood’ needs to be created? - What type of lighting will create a comfortable environment?
There are also standards and legislation that need to be complied with. For example:
- How energy efficient must the lighting be? - How will Building Regulations affect the design? - Is emergency lighting required?
When all of these objectives and requirements have been established, they can be expressed as a series of lighting criteria in order to facilitate a quality lighting design.

With over 10 years of experience within commercial lighting design projects, Dlight has the expertise and know-how to take your commercial project to the next level.
Lighting accounts for up to 40% of a commercial building’s energy consumption. Dlight strives to deliver the right amount of light using the least amount of energy. Our engineers will provide lighting calculations to ensure proper uniformity and light levels, resulting in a specified fitting which delivers as required.
We offer a comprehensive service which integrates innovative and practical lighting solutions for all environments. We have access to extensive product ranges from Leading European technical and decorative brands for both interior and external applications.
In addition, the team have a diverse background that equips us to create solutions that are positive for people as they are sustainable for the environment and businesses.

The lighting within an office space can have a tremendous impact on workforce productivity and well-being. Human-centric lighting supports cognition, sleeping patterns and contributes to our general wellness through syncing to our circadian rhythm.
Workstation lighting is fundamental when it comes to productivity and well-being, ergonomically designed task lighting is one of the most important factors for achieving a good working environment. A whole array of problems can occur from bad lighting, including aches, pains, headaches, eye-strain and fatigue.
Good office lighting design can also reduce overheads through the installation of highly efficient luminaires and control systems. We are quick to adopt the latest technologies within the lighting industry, resulting in more sustainable, efficient and versatile solutions for our clients.

Dlight discusses the appropriate quantities of light for various tasks as well as the quality issues that are equally important to provide a comfortable and safe work atmo-sphere.

Dlight has been working within the healthcare industry for over ten years, throughout this period we have designed lighting on three of the largest hospitals in Ireland and a variety of smaller applications.
We continue to move forward searching for high-quality luminaries in reducing the consumption allowing efficiency to be paramount. We deliver a premium product and design consistently to the requirements of the lighting application.
When undergoing a lighting design project for a healthcare application we must take into account the needs of patents, staff, visitors, the environment and organisation itself.
Hospitals need to achieve a certain ambience to promote comfort, safety and reassurance all while reducing carbon footprint and minimising energy usage. In addition, light-ing must enable the performance of visual tasks.
Some of the recent projects include – Waterford Regional Hospital, Wexford Regional Hospital, St. James Hospital, St Otteran’s Waterford, Tipperary General A&E, NUIG, and the UHL extension 2016.

Dlight has a strong affiliation with architecture and design. We have undertaken many projects in the heritage space, including public realms, libraries, estates and buildings of historic significance.
Our approach is based on the use of light to engage, stimu-late and complement the space. Light guides us from place to place, it directs our attention, keeps us safe at night and helps us to function as human beings. We bring the client along with a journey which meets their true expectation, resulting in many award-winning projects, decreased ener-gy consumption and a design that fits.
