A New Year’s Resolution for both men and women

might be to seek comfort and guidance from a Stephen Minister.

Stephen Ministers are not problem solvers but, rather, are trained to

listen in a confidential, caring manner and seek God’s help. Men are

assigned to men, women to women. Meeting with a Stephen

Minister can be for a few weeks or for as long as the need

continues. Call Pastor Brent (512 261-6331) for more information.

Alpha Course

Why Alpha? Life is full of questions. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Where

am I heading? Alpha is a place to explore life’s big questions in a safe

environment.

What is Alpha? Alpha is a starting point. It is a safe place for people to find

answers about faith and learn about Jesus. Each week you will share a

meal. After dinner you will engage in learning and discussion. Alpha is a series of

sessions where you can ask the deep questions and explore issues about life and faith.

Who should do Alpha? Alpha is for everyone who wants to explore God and seek to grow in their

faith. The course is designed to provide space to ask questions and wrestle with the meaning of life and

the purpose of God. Alpha is a great course to invite neighbors and friends who are exploring faith.

When: Sunday evenings, 5:30-7:30, from January 15- March 5

Where: Gary and Rosemary Kinman have graciously offered to host Alpha at their home in Rough Hollow.

Registration and Cost: Register at https://lakewaychurch.breezechms.com/form/149c51. Registration is

free but we will be asking everyone to pitch in to help cover meals and the retreat.

MEN’S MONDAY MORNINGS

WOMEN’S WEDNESDAY MORNINGS

WEDNESDAY WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY meets in Room 205 of the Fellowship Hall, 9:45-11:00 am. We are studying the OT book II Samuel –

books named after the person God used to establish monarchy in Israel. Samuel not only anointed both Saul and David, Israel’s first two kings, but

he also gave definition to the new order of God’s rule over Israel. The chapters are full of stories of birth and death, sin and forgiveness, and wrath

and God’s intervention on our behalf. Come to class and learn with us! Arrive early for coffee/tea and fellowship. If you need nursery services, let

us know so that we can make it happen. Contact Sue Johnson, [email protected] or 512-217-8891. Beginning Jan 11

Community Bible Study (CBS) will resume Thursday, Jan 5, from 10am—noon. Come join us as we continue our study of 1,2,3 John, Jude, 1&2 Timothy and Titus. Our children & youth program (ages birth to 8th grade homeschool), will also resume learning about God’s Word and love. For info on registering, contact Becky @ [email protected].

WOMEN’S CBS

WOMEN’S FRIDAY BIBLE STUDY

FRIDAY WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY resumes Jan 6 in Room 203 of the Fellowship Hall, 10:30-11:45 am. They will begin studying the NT book of 2 Corinthians. If you think we have trouble in our world today, you should see the challenges the Christians of the Greek city of Corinth faced in the Apostle Paul’s time! The church there was spiritually immature and subject to all sorts of temptations: immorality, false teaching, and general laxity in church discipline, to name only a few. Paul not only attempts to correct the Corinthians’ behavior, but he also instructs them on God’s spiritual gifts – available to us today as well. Arrive early for coffee/tea and fellowship. Contact Sue Johnson, [email protected].

WOMEN’S PRECEPT™ BIBLE STUDY

Precept™ Bible study will begin a new series of Kay Arthur’s Philippians: How to Have Joy, on Jan 9, meeting Mondays noon-2:00 pm. How do I live the Christian life joyfully regardless of people or circumstances? What is the purpose of suffering and the Christian perspective on death? Discover true, deep-down joy in your life that the world cannot take away! Led by Loretta Foster and Sherry Hoffman. Contact Loretta Foster, 512-261-4855, [email protected] or just show up for class!
