SPECIAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (SPRED) SPRED stands for Special Religious Education for the developmentally disabled. St. John’s group was established in1999 and is for adults 22 years old and above. We are part of the Oakland Diocese SPRED who provides the training for catechists and the program sessions we use. We come together several times each month, meeting in the school, as well as attending SPRED events such as retreats and special Masses. Mary Barranco (510-278-5315) is the leader of this group.
EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA ESPECIAL (SPRED) La Educación Religiosa Especial es para personas con necesidades especiales. El grupo de San Juan se formó en 1999 y es para adultos mayores de 22 años. Somos parte de la Diócesis de Oakland quien provee entrenamiento para catequistas y la sesión de programas que usamos. Nos reunimos varias veces al mes en la escuela. Bible study
Saint John is proud to announce an in-depth bible study starting May 6th organized by Deacon Noe and supported by Fr. Joseph and Fr Sergio.
The Bible Timeline:
The Story of Salvation” by Jeff Cavins. This study goes beyond last years' study. It is a 24-session study on Monday at 7pm, that will be completed toward the end of October. The number of participants will be limited to 50 mainly due to capacity of the classroom. We will break up into small groups with facilitators to get into in-depth discussions. The cost is roughly $34.95 plus tax per work book. Please call the office for further details.

Our Ticket To The Kingdom
St Vincent de Paul is asking for your monetary response to "Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me - you did it to me said Jesus". Corporal Works of Mercy are tangible ways in which God's love is made present to those "overlooked or ignored". It is by these works of mercy that we live out the Gospel Message and we bring good news by transforming someone's life for the better. We do it not as a "social service" or to feel good, but because in doing it we allow Christ himself to embrace our brothers and sisters in need through our St. Vincent de Paul Fifth Sunday second collection.
Nuestro boleto al reino
San Vicente de Paúl necesita de su ayuda económica: "Cada vez que hicieron algo por alguien humilde o ignorado, también lo hicieron por mi, dijo Jesús". Las obras corporales de la misericordia son formas tangibles en las que el amor de Dios se hace presente a aquellos "ignorados". Es por estas obras de misericordia que vivimos el mensaje del Evangelio y traemos bue-nas noticias al transformar la vida de alguien para mejor. Lo hacemos no como un "servicio social" o para sentirnos bien, sino porque al hacerlo permitimos que el mismo Cristo abrace a nuestros hermanos y hermanas necesitadas a través de nuestra segunda colecta del Segundo Domingo de San Vicente de Paul.
