REFLECTION
ANNOUNCEMENT
Welcome
Each year, the Church in the United States designates October as “Respect Life” month.
As Catholics, we believe that all life is sacred and that life begins at the moment of conception…that all human beings have an inherent value and dignity. Sadly, there continues to be constant violations to the Christian principles of human dignity; from simple road rage and injustice to the poor and elderly, to euthanasia, and the death penalty.
Through Jesus, God blessed and sanctified all life, becoming one like us; humbling himself by sharing in our humanity. Every human being has an inherent dignity and sacredness that must be respected and never exploited, violated, or disposed of. Our
dignity, our value, is not a matter of the gifts we have, the contributions we make to society, our physical beauty, or intellectual abilities, rather, our dignity comes from the God who created us, loves us, and became one like us.
It is in that relationship, that gift, that as people of Faith, we strive to see God in one another….especially those we are most likely to overlook or dismiss.
Caring for another person with dignity and respect as a child of God and our brother in Christ…Isn’t that what our St. Dominic mission statement is all about? “To Seek, Know and Become Christ, each for the sake of all”.
Blessings, Deacon Greg

Respond with Love
Do you remember a time when you spent a lot of time or money on a surprise or gift for someone else and they failed to appreciate it? We do open ourselves up to disappointment if our expectations do not match the response. Perhaps we reached down deep to share a part of ourselves only to encounter apathy and insensitivity. That can hurt, even if the person ignoring our gesture meant no ill will toward us.
What must God feel like when we fail to respond to what He has done for us. We probably do not purposefully slight God, but perhaps we are so busy and mindless that it becomes impossible to be responsive and mindful. We can miss the gift of God which is right before our eyes.
It is very difficult to be a good steward if we do not intentionally choose to be mindful. We miss the important stuff in life, and we neglect those placed in our path as gifts to enrich our lives. If we are to live as Jesus asks, we must work on focusing our eyes of faith on the things that matter and the gifts we have been given. If we are made in the image of God, I suppose we can guess how God might feel when His gifts are not acknowledged, or His love not returned. If I reflect on the One who loves me more than anyone, how can I choose to not offer my love in return?

2021 Stewardship Appeal Theme
Our 2021 Stewardship Appeal theme comes from Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” We can find peace in the knowledge that no matter what is happening in our world, in our families or communities, Christ does not change. His mission remains the same. Jesus came to share God’s merciful love with all people and we are called to share in that mission.
YESTERDAY. We were called to seek, know, and become Christ.
TODAY. We live out our mission by being a beacon of hope and reaching out in love to one another as the Body of Christ.
TOMORROW. We put our trust in the promise of eternal life that Jesus Christ offers us through His sacrificial love.
Through St. Dominic Catholic Parish we have the opportunity to give and to serve in response to the gift of God’s love—to leave the comfortable and stretch out to the mystery of discipleship and relationship that Jesus desires for us.
Watch for your Appeal materials coming in the mail in the upcoming weeks. Please prayerfully consider how you will respond to God’s invitation to give and to serve as we continue to spread Jesus’ message.
Commitment Weekend: October 24/25, 2020.
This year we will be offering a St. Dominic logo face mask to families who respond to the appeal by November 9, 2020, to help unite us together in community and to help lower our appeal costs. We will also be offering stewardship themed “Christ the Same” t-shirts and a crewneck sweatshirt during our Logo Wear Sale. Watch for more information coming soon!

Catholic Kids CHILD MINISTRY
Welcome Miss Wickeham to Extended Care!
We are thrilled to share the good news that one of our Knights has returned home to work with us in Extended Care. Please welcome Ms. Emily Wickeham to our after school care team! Ms. Wickeham is a 2009 graduate of St. Dominic Catholic School. As an eighth grader, she would volunteer time during recess in Extended Care, helping with the students. Evidently, this made quite an impression upon her as she returns where she left off. Between then and now, Ms. Wickeham has received a Bachelors in History and minor in Communications from Mount Mary University and is currently exploring a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling. We are so excited to have her joining us.
Our Extended Care After School program continues to need one more additional team member for our 2:30-5:45 PM shift. If you, or someone you know, may be a good fit for this position, please contact Mrs. Jill Fischer, principal, at 262-783-7565 ext. 271 or [email protected].

Please allow for physical distancing and avoid crowding together. The start/finish line will be on the school playground.
Register: catholicschoolswalk.org. Find St. Dominic, click “view,” then click “Register to Walk,” and complete the form. Registration is free!
Please help us reach our $5,000 fundraising goal to keep our school going strong! You can text SOLES51 to 71777, give online via catholicschoolswalk.org, or bring cash or check donations directly to the school office. 100% of all donations will directly benefit students in our school. ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC SCHOOL
What’s Happening?
Kairos for Kids students enjoyed walking in Jesus’ footsteps and adding their own, as they followed the path around the Marcy Center, making good choices and doing the things Jesus asks of us. They also had fun with playdough creating something from the Gospel story last week about the land owner and the workers.
The kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th graders focused on morality to begin their year. A great chapter in our book series touches on making choices and looking to the Saints to help us make decisions in our lives.
The 2nd graders were reminded that Jesus lived in a family and was a kid…just like them! He is fully human and fully divine and drew people to learn more about God the Father and the Kingdom of Heaven.
The 3rd graders will spend a few weeks learning more about the rosary and will make one of their own.
Thank you for your prayerful support of our kids and families.
